GOG.com just brushed down the prices for NWN and some other games now just as well. A discount for the christmas rush it seems...

So now you can buy NWN for under 7$....

Actually it is not. NWN2 will never reach anywhere close to where NWN1 was a couple of years after its release.

Today NWN2 is about 4 years from its relase while NWN1 is probably 9 year from when it first appeared.

The amount of players in NWN2 is only about one third of what NWN1 has and it is going down. A more compelling compare would be to compare the games a couple of years after relase...where the ratio will be more like 20 to 1 in favor of NWN1.

For me as a multiplayer gamer (aren't all people in this forum multiplayer gamers?) NWN2 was a huge failiure. It looked far from as polished as NWN1 and even though you could blast of good screenshots actually moving around in NWN2 was a painful sight. Animation and camera sucked beyond belief. That they recycled most of the audio from NWN1 just added to the crappy feel.

Horrible GUI and near to non existing animations didn't help. Oh...did I mention that the most vital functions in multiplayer...like chatting..and other...had been severaly nerfed....

That the NWN1 toolset was a lot better didn't make things worse. Also it is easier to make custom content for NWN1 and the amount if it is staggering.

Warmaster670, check the video I posted on youtube and you will see that NWN1 has more than enough graphics to battle NWN2 and also it is a far greater platform for this type of gaming.

I dont need to check anything, ive played both games, and NWN2>NWN.

Maybe if all you care about is playing online with random people, but as far as playing solo/small group of friends NWN2 is bar far better.

As for those screens yay the terrain looks decent, but even you said theres custom content being used, im talking flat games, but even then im sure the characters in that screen still look like crap like they used to, cant really so though its way to zoomed out

NWN2 had a better main campaign and a more powerful toolset, which ironically backfired. It takes MUCH longer to make anything of quality and I've yet to play any community made NWN2 mod that is any good compared to NWN1 ones. NWN1 thrived because of the many amazing player made mods, NWN2 failed to recapture that.
