K seriously, this is cool. Some people make every attempt to hate on this game. Go away, just play some other game that makes you happy and forget about this one.

I loved the zombie event, but Deathwing flying over and nuking everything sounds even more awesome.
This does sound good but what about the rest of the content . Will Blizzard make levels 1-60 more challenging because at present they are so easy its boring . If ever a game needed a revamp its WoW . Maybe Cataclysm will deliver . The overall impression im getting ingame at the moment is that most people are fed up with the direction the games taken and are only holding out in the hope cataclysm will bring back the fun factor . Because its all but gone at the moment .
won't last...i remember how Zombie Invasion 2.0 was cut short because pussies were crying that zombies (players) were going around killing 'Important' NPCs (guest givers, flight masters, etc).
I give it 2 weeks before Deathwing "mysteriously disappears to plot his revenge" after being defeated.
Our greatest glory is not in never falling but in rising everytime we fall.
Given how rarely this is designed to happen and the fact that there is a warning that gives you time to escape I think this will be pretty fun. It'll mean that every once in a while something unexpected happens that will change up your gameplay, make it a little more dynamic... of course lots of players hate that because it would distract them from the boring grind of xp/rep/gold/mats that they love so much.
It's not like it's happening every hour... you'll probably only see it happen once a week if you're (un)lucky.
Remeinds me of the Fel Reaver in Hellfire Peninsula. That thing squashed me at least 5 times during my time in WoW. I suppose there was something nice about crushing his face after that.

Given your forum name I'd like to respond in a way that will presumably make sense to you.
Your hypothesis is that the majority of people are fed up with WoW and the only hope for "fun" lies with Cataclysm.
The competing hypothesis is that of the 12 million players WoW has, more of them are happy with the game than there are fed up with the game. Otherwise, why would there be 12 million people playing the game?
Which seems more likely?
It seems you think the majority of players are unsatisfied with WoW right now. When Cataclysm instantly shatters day one sales records which hypothesis will that "data" support?

I'm going to have to agree with you.
Personally....I think anything they can do to make WoW feel more like a living and unpredictable environment is GOOD.
OK, Blizzard needs to stop adding new and innovative content right now, otherwise they just might convince me to come back and start all over once the expansion is released.
Seriously, I applaud this move to make the world more unpredictable and MMO's more fun.
Not really innovative. CoH has had random zone spawns of alien attacks, giant monsters, and ghost ships (only 2 zones) for years now. Although, I do applaud WoW for adding such content, it isn't really innovative if it was done before.
I just knew someone was going to 'correct' me when I wrote that comment. Yeah, yeah, I know, Blizzard/WOW never did an original thing in their lives etc etc.....
Did the random zone spawns bascially one shot everyone and more importantly, was there a server wide story arc that everyone could participate in to stop the attacks? (which is how I've interpreted this annoucement)
The alien attacks revolved around a story line that involved a new zone, I believe. The giant pumpkin is just part of the Halloween festivities and was known to one shot peeps, especially if it happened to step on you. So, yeah, been done.
I agree with the statement that mmo gamers are to blame for the genre being stale and old. This is a badass game addition. It makes the world a actual world, heaven forbid your 24/7 level grind gets interrupted. They had things like this in eq1 and in co, in both games it made playing more exciting. I'm one of the biggest wow haters in the world but this made me have some respect for blizzard. Good idea and I hope all the people here bashing it get eaten by deathwing
Sucks you hate wow, but I have to agree with you. This makes the world a little more alive. It's Deathwing, he wants to kill everything and you the player is just a pion and should be killed because thats what Deathwing does. Hell, if you don't like something like this and think it is stupid, then don't play WOW, play FFXIV instead since that game seems to succumb to your boring lifestyle.
I stopped playing WoW a while back due to the boringness of WotLK. Will not be returning, but i do have to say I was talking about this type of things with a group of friends that also play awhile back and its pretty awesome that they are implementing this into the game. Sounds like a good time. Wish they would have did this with Sartharion or Sindragosa while i was playing!
I'm all for elements brought to the game that may generate a feeling of "Imminent Danger" or of being in harms way. If it’s done right it can be an awesome enhancement to the “world experience”.

Blizz will find some way to lessen the inconvenience of what little death penalty is involved. I have faith.
What the hell is a death penalty?

i just had to grab this one out of the second page.
This .. is so wrong in so many ways, it tells you EVERYTHING about todays MMO's and its players in exactly 28 words. a gem. thank you. i give up now.

It will be the first time I really really try to die and will enjoy doing so.
I was on the hate train for wow but frankly, the patch has gotten me reinvigurated and I am having fun again!
