[VIDEO] Starvault releases a borked patch, forgetting to add a zone (creating a huge void) causing

A few days ago, Starvault released a patch and forgot to add a city into the game.  This caused everyone that was located in the city that logged in to fall to their death and loose all of their gear.  Any post about this on the official forums has been instantly deleted.

Here is a video recorded by Godly, a member of Myrmidon.

Funny to see a "missing city" in a game. Even more funny to see the players that logon fall down (1:50).

Sad though that this happens to a game AFTER it is released. Regular companies use a test server first :p

Starvault does not have a test server, you see many people on their forums complaining to get one

  • marchinordermarchinorder Member Posts: 14

    [mod edit]

I don't know... there are many longterm fans of the game that have recently turned against it.  Just look at the forums... people that used to be mods are now bashing the game every chance they get.  They just announced their 3rd recruitment drive for in game councellors (game has only been out 4 months).  It's not like the population is going up... they are just losing people left and right.    Next week they release Q3 financials so we should start to get a rough idea on subs.

    Lulz.

The funny thing is I can't say i'm suprised at this sort of thing, given it's SV and all.

On a test server i could see this happening and be okay with it, but on the release server, no way.  Thats the point of testers to make sure that very thing does not happen when you release it to the public.

As for the deleting the post. the only thing i can think of is damage control. However thats not going to stop the problem. They "should" have stayed over the weekend to fix a bug this major. Frankly they messed up. It happens it's how they went about it, they decided to go on a weekend and delete posts instead of putting a sticky saying we are aware of the problem and are working on it and actually staying over to fix the problem.

Oh well damage done and SV apparently doesn't care cause if they did they would have gone for the weekend and allowing a major part of the game be gone.

Help me Bioware, you're my only hope.

Just one point to make.  SV does have a test server.  They made a big deal of it in fact.  They tested the patch on it first.

if you have not noticed they do not test patches before they release them  they rush to get it out causing major bugs and even break the game more than before.  they finish the patch and then upload to the live server never testing it.  this is one of those examples

The test server is down now.  In fact it was down for a day or two before the Epic patch went live.  That's one of the reasons the thing was so buggy.  They made last minute changes that had not been tested (on the test server) and released a buggy mess as a result.  I feel myself starting to shift on this game lol.  I've been a supporter this whole time, subscribed since release and in beta since block A, but come the fuck on.  At some point enough becomes enough.  The game is getting better and all and bugs are being fixed.  The problem is that more bugs come as the old ones go, so even as it improves it also fails.  It's like they take two steps forward and one step back with every patch.  I think I've completely lost my patience with SV.  They're just too unprofessional and no amount of great vision for a game can make up for the buggy project that has resulted.  Beta ended months ago.  You don't have your customers test shit for you, they pay to play not develop.

Haha, and another. This is pretty amazing, adding their reluctance to admit anything is wrong is even better. Deleting everything in hopes that information doesn't spread is dumb, and if that isn't why they are doing it than they are even more. At least there was water to swim around in.

Oh, I've noticed.  I complained before about the "in house" testing. . then they announced a test server. . . still the same things happening.

I think we are on the same page here. . I might have seemed like I was defending that they did test it. . but that makes it worse!
