A few days ago, Starvault released a patch and forgot to add a city into the game. This caused everyone that was located in the city that logged in to fall to their death and loose all of their gear. Any post about this on the official forums has been instantly deleted.
Here is a video recorded by Godly, a member of Myrmidon.
Granted I had just finished a doobie before watching the video but all I noticed was the guy riding a horse for a while then he went swimming around, it appeared there was maybe a hole in the sky but honestly the graphics looked horrible anyway so I'm unsure if that was it at any rate is there actually video of someone logging in and falling infinitely to there deaths like the topic suggests or an I missing something here?
but yeah, to call this game Fantastic is like calling Twilight the Godfather of vampire movies....
Turbine in their first MMO Asheron's Call had a little oops as well with one patch. In Asheron's Call in order to get from place to place you have to go thru portals, well one patch Turbine brought the servers up without those portals and on my server alot of people were stuck in one dungeon that was basically a hub to get to other parts in the game.
"Possibly we humans can exist without actually having to fight. But many of us have chosen to fight. For what reason? To protect something? Protect what? Ourselves? The future? If we kill people to protect ourselves and this future, then what sort of future is it, and what will we have become? There is no future for those who have died. And what of those who did the killing? Is happiness to be found in a future that is grasped with blood stained hands? Is that the truth?"

Did Turbine leave it like that for a full day and never even post an update about the problem? But rather delete all the threads asking/complaining?

He didn't go swimming lol. He fell off a rock into a missing part of the world. The world has water under it everywhere you go. The reason it looked so bad was because of all the artifacts you were seeing that were supposed to be on top of land. There was supposed to be more land where he stopped with the horse, which eventually leads into a mining city called Gaul'Kor.
DF does not have issues like this: missing chunks of the map. I believe AV would take the server down to fix it for however long it took.
DF had similar glitches, maybe not as severe.
There was legendary hole in the sea in the middle of nowhere, and not really visible from any direction. GMs were chasing and kicking players who were using this hole, and then riding at the bottom of the sea on mounts. Some players were spreading misinformation about exact location of this hole, and many rafts were lost to sea serpents because of it.
I remember when world designers deleted half of Mar Shral (player city), and placed mob spawn there. There were few cases when server went up without any player built structures in any city, some players freaked out, and server was taken down after 15 mins.
With small development team, you have either long delays with minor bugs (AV), or short delays with major bugs (SV) - miracles do not happen.

Oh no the developers made a mistake ! Oh my GAWD !!!
FFS guy so what? No other game companies make mistakes ever do they?
FFS guy stop your trolling and go play your EQ clones with your auto target shitty combat.
Actually... no, no other company has made a mistake this large to my knowledge. When they do make a mistake even remotely like this they do a server roll back so that they can keep a lot of players from losing there crap.
Did SV do a roll back and work on the patch for sending it back out to the live servers? Or have they just left it as is while they work on the issue?
If they have not rolled back the servers and pulled the patch until it's been worked on, then no you can't compare them to other developers.
You can't really compare them to other developers anyways really because I have never seen or heard of anyone in the last 13 years that has accidentally deleted part of there game world. I mean they didn't just delete things in the world on accident, they deleted part of the actual game world.

Maybe it wasn't an accident. Maybe this is what Henrick meant when he said an Epic Mob would be in the Epic/Mortal 2 patch a few weeks back. Maybe this is the work of some insanely powerful creature that eats cities and turns terrain into nothingness?
Hmmm... maybe this is related to the candles on the front page? Maybe as each candle burns down.. a zone/city vanishes from the game?

Talked to a few friends of mine and apparently it's a running joke now that the Dev's pet guild tried to nuke GK because they couldn't deal with Ascension alliance who lives there, but missed.
Its not perfect, thats for sure, but ive never seen a whole area missing. I guess it can happen to any company with a limited staff. How its handled after a mess up is what matters.
Government is not reason; it is not eloquent; it is force. Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master.

Actually, this happened (kind of) in Vanguard during one early patch (pre-SOE). They accidently deleted an outpost, leaving just a few pillars and bits of roof stuck in the floor, and the NPCs were dumped in the river next to it. They didn't leave a huge hole in the map for players to fall to their deaths in though. Also, unlike SV, they actually released a hotfix to sort it out within a couple of hours as soon as they realised what they had done.
update - godly just got a warning from starvault to remove his video he uploaded.. starvault is trying to get people to remove evidence of this completely it seems make sure you downloda this youtube video in case it does get erased so we can spread the word about this corruption and get it uploaded to another site
Funny to see a "missing city" in a game. Even more funny to see the players that logon fall down (1:50).
Sad though that this happens to a game AFTER it is released. Regular companies use a test server first
Yea man that was pretty crazy. You can see the guy that made the video target one of the people falling down through the ground, it was not mobs it was actually a player!

I hope that isn't true lol. If it is then SV is more fail than could possibly be imagined. The games not in beta, there is no NDA. If they start threating people for what they do outside their realm of jurisdiction then thats a whole new can of worms in which people will use to bash SV and MO endlessly lol. Not that people needed more reasons to but seriously, bullying your player base?
it is not new I see it constantly in forums and IRC. If you criticize the company you are a troll or a non wanted member, and will be banned. I know people that were banned from forums and IRC for not trolling just voicing their problems with the game.
If you can not handle the criticism, then you should not have open forums. I can see if someone just rambled on and said fuck you this games suck eat my dick. But I have seen well worded polls or posts deleted and people banned. Especially lately it has gotten worse.

How about this for comparison - the guy (Ratigan from AQ) who posted that leaked topic from my guild's forums had his account perma-banned for the game; when he tried to get an explanation he was banned by the "anti-cheating system" and there weren't any logs to be found. Another guy (Crypton from Prophecy) who was a true MO fanboy was permabanned from the forums and nobody knows why. Yet another guy, (Golozhopenko from RUS) was permabanned from IRC for linking Ratigan's post. Months ago moderators got a directive from the Community Manager to delete all goodbye posts, and now there's a new directive in place - delete all posts that criticize MO or SV.
You can say many things about Maerlyn - he is a self-styled manipulator (albeit not that good at it) who threatened Henrik he'd leave if he didn't get an adequate paycheck and I got the logs from the horses mouth to prove it - but he isn't stupid enough to take the initiative on his own to order his volunteers to delete goodbye posts and criticism from the forums. That sort of stupidity comes from higher up; and the only thing it confirms is that the captain is panicking because the ship is sinking.
After all the PR spin about how SV was open to criticism and different from "other MMO companies" it boils down to this. And announcements of Mortal Online 2 are unfortunately very correct - this is Mortal Online 2, with double the bugs from Closed Beta, as anybody who played and believed in MO in those days can remember. Only thing missing are the Big Potion stockpiles, the Molvas are already there.

That's why I refuse to pay in order to be a beta tester. The game is unfinished and they charge full price.
