Where's smoke there's some fire. Sadly because I've always thought that spending huge amount of money on VO and cutscenes in MMO was waste. No way they can release it in 6 months because so far they have nothing to talk about other than story telling, keeping everything else in thick fog. Sadly because I don't have any MMO to play currently and SW:TOR seemed to have some potential.
You could be right. But the amount of information released is the same thing that was done for most of Bioware's games. All of the advertising and information release is the same for all of their games. You don't hear much until a couple months before release.
Maybe this could be the first Bioware game that I hate? lol Maybe, maybe not.
You seriously want MMO to be enjoyed by less people than now? You want MMO gamers to have even more social stigma?
While I got tired of WoW, you have to give credit to Blizzard that they brought MMO (a niche genre where having 500k sub was considered a giant) to the masses.
I enjoy MMOs (and games in general). Why deny the chance for someone else to enjoy this medium due to social stigma?
You are right of course, most of us are just upset because the older devs stopped doing their own thing and just copied Blizzard instead, and that turned the genre into more or less different versions of the same game.
It isn't Blizzards fault or the main stream gamers, but many of us miss the diversity the genre actually had once. Hopefully will it get back to that once again with the release of games like World of darkness online and Guildwars 2.
But, you see, the genre has much more diversity now than it did back then. World of Warcraft, Star Trek Online, Fallen Earth, Ryzom, Pirates of the Burning Sea, Atlantica Online, EVE Online - these games are not really like each other; I'd say some have even less in common than UO and EQ did. I say there are almost as many paradigms for MMOs now as there were MMOs back then.
Thing is, people have not preferred or even have focused on the differences. We just talk much more about clones and similarity than we do about things that are actually new. I'd even say we (meaning "the majority" here) tend to avoid new things or to be quickly disappointed by them.
It seems to me that some of us just want "new things the old way" - and I would just not call that diversity. To me, Warhammer Online -> Atlantica Online -> Fallen Earth -> Star Trek Online *is* diversity.
Hey, you never said "good", you just said "diverse"!
I am surprised they answered anything on EALouse but it was like watching an episode of Yes Minister.
Blizzard has managed to turn this genre on its head as far as success goes it would be petty of them not to acknowledge that. What developers do to mimic Blizzard is the fault of the copy cat developers. To pile that on Blizzard too is daft.
You know what i like about them answering about EA louse .
They dont deny it , like blizz does, its a troll or some stupid remark to impress the mentally incapable , they still talk serious about improving the work atmosfeer .
At blizz people get fired if they say the wrong things , who still remembers the other Developers aside from Ghost Crawler in wotlk beta ?
Who still remember our lovely druid european forum manager who got fired, cause in the end he decided to stick up for what he believes .
Its a huge big difference in atmosfeer , yes they gambled big and payoff is not 100% sure for them .
But in my eyes they are doing what mature responsible people do .
And hurray you might hate blizzard , but they have 1 good thing (Aside from the games), they have very good end customer support tier .
You got a stupid game master thats tier 1 , you get the head game master thats tier 2 , you can even get the european consumer head thats tier 3 , then you got the NA final board thats tier 4 .
Sorry most people dont even realise how good consumer support they have in place .
I am curious how Bioware consumer support going to be handled , but judging on there forums it seems to be going well.
Haha that's precious. They just danced all around the EA Louse question, 3 times. Anyone skilled enough at reading through PR bull can tell that Louse was pretty spot on, and they did NOT want to admit it.
"Was Louse legit"?
Well you see... we try really hard...
"He sounded legit"
Well if you look at Bioware, we take things seriously..

This is typical troll response , so its LEGIT , what is legit ? did you even read EA louse bloq , or is reading comprehension so bad .
He didn´t work there , infact he worked at mythic and ranted about warhammer online .
The only phrase he used in his rant , was that SWTOR was mega expensive around 100 million invested already .
Going to fail , he wouldn´t rant that big about product he didn´t know shit about . if he got hired .

Oh you fanboys are so cute. I never said anything about your precious SWTOR game, I merely pointed out how BS their responses were. Yes, I read the blog, yes I know he's a Mythic employee, that's why I read it. Mythic was once a great company, and this insight into why it collapsed is nice. His stories were confirmed by other Mythic employees, and the flat refusal to acknowledge whether or not Louse was legit or not by these PR chucklenuts is more a confirmation than anything else, if you still needed one.

Oh calling me a fanboi , means you give away you hate this game .
That solves it no need to argue , how easy it is nowadays to draw people out of there shell .
Mythic was once a great company , so was black isle , so was mircoprose . you know what ? i seen too many great companies, in my gaming history that went belly under .
Now i dont know about you , but you haven´t done one bit of research how FANTASTIC Bioware is .
They saved as much of Black Isle as possible by just taking the crew of Obsidian and gave them the NWN title .
Sure NWN 2 might not be what nwn 1 was , or dragon age or other bioware titles , but atleast they put there words into actions .
If they say they dont want to confirm or deny EA louse , that means they already have enough respect to feel what he feels .
Different generation , different mentality , guess what beats your FANBOI attitude , cause this fan did a lot more research about most company then you ever know . and that article is not targeted for your mentality .
You wonder why blizzard reacts the way they do towards this generation .
I can only confirm they sure can play you like a badly tuned violin .
Ok lets see how this works. I hear ea is spending 1000 bilillion dollars on this game and the us goverment aka republicans promised to give them all the money they want from tax payers so there company doesnt go under.
so did i dod ht etor hate right? im not sure lol god u guys are so transparent. A guy who even claimed he never worked on tor knows nothing about tor and u take everything he says as fact lol.
Last i looked mythic still existed. am i wrong . Is the company not bioware/mythic? which means they still exist. Look i dont know what happened with warhammer. What i do know is the people who run ea and bioware arent stupid. There companies are worth alot of money. Ea and bioware have some of the biggest console games on the market today.
Im gonna play tor weather u guys tell me the game isnt even coming out or not. I dont belive a word u say u have no credibility left. None. U have told to many lies about this game for me to listen to anymore. Im sorry maybe i should do what u do.
I should start going on gw 2 sites and putting it down every second of every day they way u guys attack tor. Oh yea i forgot while this post may get me banned i have to much class to put down a game that isnt even out yet. I have to much class to care what game u play I have to much class to think my opinion is the only one worht having.
I also have to much class and integrity to put down a game i dont want ot play just because i dont want other playing it. Its ridiculous the tor hater spend so much time trying to convince everyone to not play tor. Its amazing how much time and effort they spend denegrating this game. Ud think they were beign paid to do so.
I dont have the time or the lack of class to denegrate games just cause they dont appeal to me.
Man, I thought SOE was bad at answering questions. Two pages of an interview and all they manage to really say about their games is that "important stuff is important to us".
I mean, if you're not going to say anything or answer any questions, don't do interviews.

Hmm, the only thing anyones given to show that he was confirmed by another Mythic employee was Sanya's blog in which she said his info was actually wrong.
How can getting all the details of an event wrong be confirmation? Sounds more or less like he heard a rumor going around and like usual the rumor turned out to not be true.

Sanya believed he was a real employee, she made that clear. She only said she was wrong about the details as to why she left and an opinion she had (though, interestingly, she didn't deny the rough account of events of EAlouse). I don't remember the other ex-mythic person or two that also thought he was legit.
I tend to think he's a real Mythic employee. I tend to think TOR is having some significant problems at the moment, as there are several sources saying people from other Bioware projects are getting flown in to help them iron things out (which doesn't happen if everything is going well). It's Louse's opinion that TOR will flop and that it can't be fixed, but that doesn't mean his opinion there is true.

Lets honestly take a look at the interview. Some questions weren't answered, but the questions specifically about EALouse were nothing but a bunch of terrible questions. "My feeling was it had a degree of credibility." ? What kind of question is that? This is dancing around the core issues when he should have just come out and asked the question.
How do you have the CEO of BioWare and Senior VP of EA answer that? You think he stands on a pedestal looking down on mythic and knows every rumor and behind closed doors talk each and every employee has? Think about the size of the company, how could they confirm or deny if it was someone in Mythic or not. All they could say is that what was said, was rumor. They can't say for certain whether it was someone in Mythic, or whether it was just some random blogger. I'm sure they have their suspicions, but thats something to be dealt with internally.
What some of the people here are expecting is for them to stand up and say "The entire blog is false, this person doesn't work for Mythic." When has a company ever done that? They addressed the questions no different then I would expect any other company in this situation. If there were more direct questions that needed to be answered over the topic, the interviewer should have had the stones to ask them instead of dancing around it with lines like. "It sounds credible to me." What the hell is he looking for there? "Thats great buddy, I'm glad you think it sounds credible." I mean come on, how are you going to police everyones perceptions. They said it was rumor. They could have flat out said the thing was completely false, yet you'll still have people who think its credible. In the end there is no point.

How does that not happen if everything is going well or poorly? This is a very ambitious project, there is no going good or bad. Its been shown the engine works and a lot of the systems appear to be in place at least at the lower levels. Does that mean that the game is complete? Not at all, but how many employees do you think get "flown in" for every MMO.
This ties directly back into the article. Its rumor. Nothing can be completely confirmed or denied. It all ends up just focusing on what someone chooses to believe or not. While I can fly someone in to fix something simple with an engine modification or something more specialized with redoing the voice work, it doesn't mean the project is in a critical form.
This is just one of those things where people will believe what they want to believe. How that ties in to EALouse... well, it doesn't.
Hmm, the only thing anyones given to show that he was confirmed by another Mythic employee was Sanya's blog in which she said his info was actually wrong.

I don't know, I guess I just need more to be a "believer". Sanya did say he may be a Mythic Employee, but that his details were all wrong lol. The only other person I saw was someone else claiming to be a Dev that louse quoted saying that Mythic employees weren't even in a position to know the state of TOR and that all he was doing was detracting attention away from War.
You may have some insight I am not privy to that makes this easier to believe, I just need something tangible or at least something we can confirm. I mean at this point it's not like he has anonymity if he really is or was an employee at Mythic. Why would he not give his name? Surely those in charge know who's privy to what info and if louse was in a position to be privy to the information he claims to be then it's not like it would be hard to figure out which employee it was lol.
As far as people being flown in to work on it, the only thing I've seen anywhere on the net while searching for it seems to be your post here on MMORPG.com lol. So that one I can't say much about.

The only Mythic-specific detail Louse was notably wrong on was that one rather private one regarding Sanya (but note he did know there was a lot of conflict going on about it). I wouldn't expect an employee anywhere to fully understand what is going on with someone leaving the company who is in another, unrelated department.
The guy at Gamebreaker talked about how at gamescom the two big topics of discussion among devs and such between things were how awful FFXIV was and how TOR was experiencing some significant troubles and hence people were being flown in to resolve it. These are people that know the industry and are involved in it and would here things that you and I would not. There are other sources besides Gamebreaker and EALouse, of course. This is not entirely a bad thing...far worse would be if it was having trouble and no one was doing anything. None of this means TOR will be bad or that it has unresolvable issues. To me it just means that TOR is having some non-trivial problems right now. Like I've said before, we won't know how the finished product will shape up until Open Beta.
And yeah (to respond to maskedweasel), if the development was going really well then they wouldn't have to fly any people from other projects in to resolve issues as the MASSIVE team on TOR would be handling things just fine. You don't pull significant people from other projects if development is proceeding roughly according to plan. If there's a problem or kink, however, you certainly do get your best and brightest to resolve it.

Who are they bringing in? It makes all the difference. Who's to say these people are "significant"? Who is this guy and what relation does he have to the project? What information do we have aside from something someone said one time?
The only thing I've seen or heard about it has been from you, and only you. Not saying you're wrong in what you heard from whoever but just because it has been said doesn't make it fact.
As far as development going well or going poorly, again it makes a big difference on who they are bringing in. It could be a sound issue, it could be a graphical issue, it could be an engine issue. Companies pull resources all the time, even if it was true, without any specific knowledge how are we to know this is a critical issue, or even an issue at all and not just pulling people in to work on the game. They pulled some mythic employees to work on the PvP, was there a tremendous issue then?
Wow... I don't think I've ever seen so many people attempt to use unconfirmed rumors to 'prove' that a game so far from release is going to fail.
Since most everyone who has actually played the game has had positive impressions, I guess there isn't much actual proof for the trolls to base their negative posts on. I guess haters will use anything they can though.

LMFAO (thats not even true you were not laughing you were irritated) ,
Listen kid (could have clicked on my name and seen my age ? that alone shows you have no itnerest to even do reserach )
Ony reason people say listen !! is when they are powerless and ignorant , if i wasn´t listening i wouldn´t bother replying .
You dont give crap about BIOWARE !!! , then why are you even here ?
Godsake get real please go learn some education , and not act like a example for a 16 year old kids you are 30 .

"Was he legit?"
Well......
Too bad he got fired ..
The whole interview was full of PR-speak, I agree.
This is what a troll looks like in IRL
No thats called reading a article and a interview .
Reading your lines is aka a troll
There is nothing to read between the lines.
Cause your line is totally useless and pointless .
Your opnion is not even backed by facts or wording or explanations .
Just a 1 liners without a backstatement .
Can you get a job with that one liner ?
"Id rather work on something with great potential than on fulfilling a promise of mediocrity."

Well, at least the important stuff isn't unimportant to them, eh?
It was pretty worthless overall.
LMFAO wow. That reaction was gold. Listen, kid, I didn't say anything about Bioware, I don't give a crap about Bioware. You're reading comprehension is REALLY bad. Do you just have these champion fanboy responses chambered and ready to fire out of context? Save it for someone who is actually trying to bash Bioware.
Who else supposedly confirmed him?
So a 30 old year guy telling a 35 year old guy a kid ?
Woot you wouldn´t give crap why are you still argueing ? its somethings good to be quiet and silent .
Instead or trolling on , Your reading comprehension is none excistence the way you formulate your lines .
