MO deserves a chance.

deathshrouddeathshroud Member Posts: 1,366

Alot of negativity towards MO recently and usually by the same crowd. It hasnt been a smooth ride for any of the current MO player base but after the last few patches im now a believer. Seems like a few butt hurt players previously banned from the game are on a mission to discredit the game rather than simply stating their opinions they/he takes it abit to far. but without naming any names all i want to do is provide another side of MO to people interested.

So why does MO finally deserve a chance? well its almost in the state the game should have been in at release, so regardless of how long MO has been released players who are yet to experience MO will soon be able to play a game that is fit to be played and what a refreshing change MO is when compared to the more causal theme park mmos. Before the prevous few patches i was always on the fence about MO. i have been a long time player since early beta but to be honest open beta and release was a disaster and that is no secret, anyone who says otherwise isnt being honest.

But with these recent patches the game is stable, im able to play and not worry about bugs infact i havent client crashed or came across any game breaking bugs in months. But these last patches have seriously polished the game it now stands out graphically compared to even the big name companies and makes SWRTOR graphics look archaic. MO has some interesting features some found in other mmos and some unique to MO. im not going to list them but just visiting the site will reveal some of them. PVE is actually good in terms of how the ai act compared to other mmos, in MO the ai life resource drops and behaviour are done in scales per creature meaning variation, they run when hurt sometimes act cowardly or brave and sometimes if you chase one long enough will fight back when it cant run any longer. Head shots and location damage even work on the ai. The main problem with pve is all the creatures are pretty much mobile resource we are still waiting for the challenging mobs that are killed for fun as opposed to killing to gain money. PVP in mo is working great, lag is at a minimum flying palyers are gone and im quite happy with the balance.

What MO needs now are more players, but first it needs to make sure it can keep those players and that means the following..

Tutorial

Fledgling flag

Player vendors in towns

More PVE and More Dungeons

UO style inventory

Tooltips on Char creation

once all this is in, expect to see a media push for MO

me too and i must admit i cant find a gamebraker at the moment. i mean to bandage a pet without bandages in the inventory isnt really a gamebraker :P. But indeed overall great improvements.

MO does not deserve chance in my eyes because of the bad design decisions they constantly repeat. Anyone could have told them that thievery is a bad and unfinished feature the way it was in beta, yet they put it in without finishing it properly (dont go with 'it was beta' argument, even beta features needs to be balanced by common sense). Such slacky design decisions are everywhere in MO. It is not about bugs, it is about Henrik not quite knowing what he is doing with the game. Decision to make some magic target based, changes to stamina, ect ect. It feels they have a 'trial and error' approach to the game, instead of thinking it through before testing it live. I won't play a game to be his lab rat.

PvE is more then good Ai behavior. It is hidden treasures, reasons to explore, rare items, mysteries to solve, bosses to find and defeat. MO got nothing of the above.

P.S, if a whole city vanishing is not a game breaking bug, resulting in people falling to their death.. I duno what is.

You folks are insane ..... the game is horrid in its current state and has been horrid since we were allowed sneaks of beta. They had high aspirations and no idea how to get there .... MO needs to die and people need to stop releasing half assed MMO's  .. Indie or not.

MO had a fair change. It is called "release day", the thing that happened 5 months ago. Might recheck the game in a couple of month though, but have little faith in it.

well thievery is in the game now, to be honest it is rarely a problem and crafters along with mages are osme of the hardest players to steal from due to them having high intelligence. Like is said previously the ai is good but the monsters arent there. Whole city vanished but i didnt experience it tbh, and lets be truthfull it takes me 20 minutes to make enoguh money for 3 suits of armor currently. Those last patches came with no bugs the patch you refer to was 3 patches ago i believe and i cant say i experienced it. MO failed at launch we all knew it would during beta, but it offers something new, something exciting and there are people who enjoy it so it does deserve a chance, but i have a feeling it wont need chances or luck once its ready peopel will be suprised by it and how mcuh its changed since those awful days of beta.

a little unfair considering MMO combat is boring to watch but fun to take part, show me an actually interesting pve or pvp vid from eve that soemone who hasnt played it would apreciate.

WTF game are you 2 playing??  I have played MO since beta and I have currently unsubbed.  Every patch ( maybe not the one they just patched on Friday because I have not played) Has had gamebreaking bugs.  Or patches that say they fix things and do not fix them.

How can you say give it a chance now???  See my problem was not only the bugs.  It is the no CONTENT.  There is nothing to do.  If you can kill wisents for months until they add some content.  Good for you and I applaud your patience.  I will give the game a chance when they finally add all the stuff you were talking about in your other post.  Until then why should I pay SV to test all their content out for them??   They are programming as they go along and I do not feel like I should be a tester and pay.

Like someone said launch was 5 months ago and they are still ironing out bugs.  When I see patch after patch of content bing added that is not breaking the game I will be very happy and resub.  I do want the game to succeed I did not buy 2 accounts for it to fail.

I was interested, but I saw all the bugs, cheating, exploits and such, among other issues, and it turned me off.

Only way I would consider it, is if they fixed most of it, got the cheating/exploits under control, and then started a new server.

MMOs are not like user names. They can't just be recreated when their reputation is destroyed.

MO did deserve a chance. It blew it, and continues to do so. Give it up.

  • davmac22davmac22 Member Posts: 283

Why does it deserve to stay alive when around 70% of the people that bought and played at release have already left and are never looking back again...  The game had its shot and did not excel and has only been a bad example of indie games.  I have more faith in xsyon than I do in MO and that game is not even out yet...

I'm sorry OP but to keep my subscription going over the long haul a game needs to be more than just good and MO isnt even below average.

Don't feel bad though not many games are good enough imo.

The only time is when the games basic mechanics are very good but the game needs some more content.

Like some more endgame shit or maybe development of a couple features that didnt make it out at release but will come in the first three months.

All in all those games are still very good unlike MO.

I bought into MO in early beta by preordering, which got me into block "A" . Now i assumed that preordering would mean i would get a copy of the game once it was released, well suprise suprise, i got a beta disk which is useless as game got some major coding changes and i need to DL full version from their site. Grats SV you are in the "do not touch folder", along with SOE , two companys who have lost my business for good. Just low SV just low!!

    Bugs, cheating, exploits?

You've been reading way to many mmorpg.com posts.  Most bugs are patched, there was never a big crowd of cheaters, exploits have been fixed.  Maybe you should try Mortal Online as it is today as opposed to what it was 6 months ago.

Is that why they are still "fixing" dupes?  image Dupings been a major issue forever.

not everyone has come across bugs, i certainly havent and im sure majority of player havent come across new bugs since the patch either. No MMO is free of bugs but in MO's current state its aboslutely playable.

Also it stated quite clearly when you preoredered the boxed game that a new version of the game would be dispatched, also you can install the game from the disc and it will update properly now. At a later date when patches becoem less freqwuent a new disc will be sent. I wish some people would read beofre buying stuff.

duping probably does exist in MO, infact it existed in darkfall and eve for a lnog time. But i have never met a duper and certainly never seen anyone hacking. All duped horses that happened after the epic patch are or have been removed.

I think the fact that they sent out a non-working client disc speaks plenty enough of the enjoyment I'd have in-game.

    but it does work...

what happened was everyone kept moaning and moaning for their discs so they sent them and suprisingly the game was patched soon after the discs were released making them esentially out of date. its an mmo they keep getting updated, i have eve in original box but i prefer to just dled the client its easier. Again you can install the game using the disc.

It got a chance, in beta, at launch.

The company will get more respect once it stops managing the game poorly, and pulling off shadey operations like selling clients of the beta for 70 bucks, then breaking their game and delaying it 2 years.

The discs gave you a completely non-working version of the game that wouldn't even patch. I can install vanilla WoW, and it'll still patch and perform normally.
