I was in beta and a little at launch. yes it was buggy. But the real reason I guess i never subbed was because there weren't enough people.
I like to PvP in PvP games.
I spent more time wandering around and doing chores than PvPing in MO.
Have the same issue with DF. Though I love the risk of loosing my loot, it clearly turns too many people off - since you mostly only see people in safe zones (see EVE hi sec) and in or near towns in DF. Many times I've gone riding looking for Chaos chests etc and enjoying the scenery in DF, increasingly getting paranoid as my pack filled with gold and regs, but seriously 4 out of 5 times, no one even tries to gank me unless I go near towers or Chaos cities.
"Never met a pack of humans that were any different. Look at the idiots that get elected every couple of years. You really consider those guys more mature than us? The only difference between us and them is, when they gank some noobs and take their stuff, the noobs actually die." - Madimorga
Friend of mine decided to sub again 2-3 days ago because he didn't believe me when I said he's a Beta tester. Unfortunately since mounted charge skill disappeared after patch he paged a GM about it, and got a response that they don't know if it works and that he should go test it. I hate being right with stuff like this, but the "Im NEVER subbing again to this shit" nerdrage was funny to read. ))
Forced PVP games & pvp centric games don't last long at least as pay games with exceptions such as Lineage II where the penalties for pking are quite stiff. There are times when people want the challenge and other times when people just want to be left alone. Games where that is optional tend to do the best. Mortal would have done better using that formula.
Asheron call 1 is forced PVP and its been around since 99 and its more hard core then MO with the PVP, no flags, yes there is PVE servers, but people mostly play the PVP server... So saying this is BS.
I do not play MO anymore but I had to make a comment on that as I call BS.
I am not playing MO beacause of all the negative feedback from forums like this. I usually dont listen to the usual haters but this has many voices shouting that it sucks. That and I dont want to fork out the cash when I am playing LOTRO most of the time anyways.
What i have found in most sandboxes are discarded toys and cat poop.
