the only reason i would buy a PS3 is for the few good exclusives that it has.  the wii is just......no.

I had a PS3, I really liked having a console that was stable, a good blue-ray and free online play. The bad is the online experience. The community social aspect is pretty much non-existant. Very few even use their headsets in a multiplayer focused game. I can't see how that works in a multiplayer environment type game. Sony needs to make more multiplayer games but instead, they promote the single player anti-social mentality.

I enjoy gaming on the 360 a heck of a lot more than on a PC.

MS screwed up, and not only did they lose Bungie, they let EA buy up BW. BW had made some of the best exclusive games for Xbox(KOTOR and ME). Now PS3 is getting ME2 in the next yr.

I have never liked PS due to the controller. The colored buttons with letters is easier to remember. At least for me. The symbols on PS controllers wear out no less. As someone noted, PS3 is devoted to getting a ton of good exclusives, and MS needs to step up to the plate.

I have been putting off getting a PS3, but will eventually due to Blu-Ray. Looking forward to exclusives I missed like GoW and Hard Rain.

That siad, until something changes, Xbox will remain my favorite.

Asking Devs to make AAA sandbox titles is like trying to get fine dining on a McDonalds dollar menu budget.

I had a 360 it burned out so i ended up getting the PS3 . Gotta love those blu ray movies.

with the new 360 out im thinking of getting that system again. I had both systems and really didnt see a major change . well only that PS3 is actually getting MMOs on their system .

I could always buy a new xbox 360 to get rid of the jet turbine sound on startup...or I could get a ps3 which was made right the first time has free online gaming and better graphics.  Easy call.

Sheer number of players? PS3 is only 3 million units behind Xbox 360, and Xbox 360 had more than a years head start, almost 2 years.

Dude, you mentioned Little Big Planet twice (a game that is as insignificant as Viva Pinata) and Ninja Gaiden isn't PS3-exclusive either.  Saying that Killzone or MAG can hold a candle to the Halo-Series or Gears of War is pretty dilusional really and the sales- and onlineactivitynumbers prove it. Not to mention that about every multiplatform-game looks or performs worse on PS3 and that PSN is a joke compared to XBL. Yeah it's for free but that's about it.

I own every current gen console and I have to admit that the 360 is played far more by a large margin. The PS3 is not much more than a Blu-Ray Player to me because the handful of (albeit great) exclusive titles like Uncharted, God of War III (which is the worst part of the franchise from a gamedesignperspective) or Heavy Rain lasted me about two weeks combined. Left 4 Dead, Halo, Gears etc. on the other hand are played constantly for years. That's just how it is.

Hey, good for u dude. And no, Little Big Planet is NOT as insignificant as Viva Pinata (it sold like half a million units lol). Little Big Planet sold SIGNIFICANTLY more (millions of copies), and Little Big Planet is not a boring game, unlike Viva Pinata. If you're honestly going to tell me Viva Pinata is better than LBP, or even equally good, then I'm not going to bother replying anymore.

Also, I never said Ninja Gaiden series is exclusive to PS3, I said Ninja Gaiden SIGMA is exclusive to PS3, get it through ur thick head. And not to mention how much better Ninja Gaiden Sigma is than the regular Ninja Gaiden for xbox 360. People who played Ninja Gaiden 2 on xbox 360 pretty much beta-tested it for us, and the result: Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2. Lolol

And all u can come with is the amount of copies Halo and Gears of War sold. It's because xbox 360 has a bigger install base due to it being released almost 2 years prior, also because of the fact that they're like the only good games on Xbox 360 (next to Forza and Alan Wake)

I already posted which noteworthy games PS3 has compared to Xbox 360's noteworthy games (which are next to non existant compared to PS3's)

Why do u keep mentioning Left 4 Dead 2? How slow are u? Have u still not managed to squeeze through ur thick head the fact that Left 4 Dead is multiplatform and exists on PS3 as well? Besides that ur left with Gears and Halo, lol. I can ramble a  whole list of very great and active multiplayer games on PS3.

Honestly I have to agree with PS3 outselling the 360. Main reason though is going to be Move vs. Kinect.

Microst is hoping to extend the life of the 360 for another 5 years with the kinect, PS3 will likely do the same. The problem is with Boxing games and Workout type of games the Kinect will be great, but swinging anything or driving anything most people are going to prefer to have something in there hands. PS3 has the camera as well that tracks movement but the wand is going to be the big game changer. Perfecting on what the Wii brought to the table and combining that with something similar to what the 360 is bringing is just a better setup overall and will be viable and more preferable for a larger variety of games.

PS3 definitely has the upper hand. I actually work at a place that sales a large number of consoles. We can't keep the move items and the move bundles on the shelf, the 360 kinect and kinect bundles though have been gathering dust a few sale but not many have been.

One of the issues with the Kinect system bundle though I will admit has to do with the fact that your getting a 4gb system in the bundle where as with the PS3 Move bundle you're getting a 320gb system.

Xbox has no exclusives. You can play all the games on the PC.

    PS3 however... :)

7 years later and ps3 is finally catching up... "they think" ... Really matters lil if they do ,The 360 has already exteneded its llife and Kinect buys thema lil time , as the Xbox 720 is most likely in full development by now... And the new Sega machine may trump them both after its launch......

  • aaradunaaradun Member Posts: 91

sure it might outsell the XBOX360 and probably will but not as game console but as blueray player. It's a know fact that easily 40% of people that buy has ever played a game on it.

Nah, not really catching up at this point but surpassing. See Bungie pretty much showed the best that the 360 can do, even they admit they pushed the 360 to it's limit with Halo Reach. The Kinect is all the 360 has up it's sleeve.  The Move is beyond what the Kinect can do. To make matters worse the PS3 is starting to provide 3D gaming even if it's limited to 720p.

The 360 has pretty much reached the end of the line as far as what can be done with it. The PS3 oddly enough still has room to grow. Yes the 360 had a head start, yes the 360 has done better overall in sales, but... Sony's initial investment may see return since it is still basically growing and adding features that the 360 just can't. This puts Sony in line to push beyond Microsoft with new technologies that the 360 just can't handle.

So... in the end basically what I'm saying is that the botched PS3 launch we criticized Sony for due to there focus on uneeded features may pay off in the long run. With the 360 at it's limit and hoping to extend it's life another 5 years with the Kinect Sony pretty much has a blank check in hand because it's able to keep improving the PS3 and offer things that the 360 can't and won't until the next gen Xbox hits the scene.

If things continue to look up for Sony with these new technologies that are becoming more mainstream such as 3D then we just might see the tortoise beat the hare.

I own both but even I've become impressed with 360s kinect. Its selling like hot cakes and the games surprisingly have gotten decent reviews. Also notice how noone gives a rats ass about sonys Move right now? Sony may surpass Microsoft in the last year or so of this generations life cycle but so what? By now damn near every real gamer owns both.

I own a 360...I love it...I originally wanted a PS3 but I got the 360 as a surprise a few years back....damn good system, but I dont see the Kinect pusing it another 5 years unless they plan on doing some really miraculous stuff with it.

I'll get a PS3 probably next year...gotta get to saving ya know...

I wanna play Heavy Rain...and...TBH...FFXIV if they can fix it.

IMO...the 360 is CURRENTLY the better system...better and more games...better online features I guess.....but the PS3 will out do it in time.  TBH the 360 just doesn't appear to be a "10 year system" ya know......PS3 yea...if only because it took so long to get going.

Frankly...I don't care...Same shit if you ask me...

I wanna Wii..........wanna play Pokemon Park or Pikachu's Adventure...or whatever the hell it's called.........I love Pokemon

I haven't brought a console in like 10 years, but occasionally i would walk into a games store and think which one would i buy.

Been an avid fan of Sony for many years but for me, the games im interested in are all exclusive to xbox360 which puts me in a pickle.. that, and the price of the ps3 compared to the 360.

Have to speculate if Sony can get some more nice titles under their belt they would be better off.

Had to pop in one last time because I forgot to mention probably the most important reason the PS3 is going to outdo the 360 at least in regards to what people here are more than likely interested in. 360 is very anti MMO while the (Sony in general starting with the PS2 I believe or was everquest a PS1 MMO title I forget lol) PS3 is proving to be very MMO friendly. Any MMO developer with dreams of a 360 launch eventually comes back and reluctantly states that it was a no go.

Many MMO's have counted on the 360 to deliver them to a wider audience, but it always lets fans and developers down. FFXI seems as if it will be the only MMO to hit the 360.

The ps3 has better hardware.  At release it was the technically superior machine and does have great games.

The 360 has higher sell numbers (for now) and is generally known as the "better" machine by the mainstream.

Lesson learned here is sony has a pathetic marketing deparment and micro$oft has very deep pockets.

Hope you xbox fans enjoy your live price hike.  You can thank micro$oft for buying those exclusive rights and passing the buck.

Most don't care though. Live is just so awesome compared to anything else available. And from a hardware standpoint the only thing the PS3 has is the blueray.

also why are we arguing over who will be in 2nd place between these two the WII has sold more than these two combined.

  • jaxsundanejaxsundane Member Posts: 2,776

Good to see because I've always been partial to Sony and the Playstation until recently they also had the upper hand inthe games produced for the system, as a nother poster noted XBOX may be leading in the quality of games department right now but luckily for me I don't really play alot of what are traditionally the high sellers of games lately so I was able to pass on getting the XBOX360 for the PS3 again.

but yeah, to call this game Fantastic is like calling Twilight the Godfather of vampire movies....

PSU still runs on the 360.

The hardware is stronger on the PS3,  but honestly,  the largest and most popular exclusive titles outside of nintendo are for the 360.  The only title that was exclusive to the playstation that I ever truly played was Kingdom Hearts... and they haven't done anything with that for a while, apart from handheld games.

I recently bought Infamous,  but in all honesty, I liked Prototype better.  The controls were much better, it was a more fluid style of play.. just overall a better game to me, I pretty much wasted money on Infamous..

Now the PS3 will start to get some MMOs... mostly the MMOs slated for the PS3 are from SOE,  the agency and DCUO.  Then we have FFXIV.   Will the 360 get MMOs?  Its absolutely possible,  but none have been announced, or those that have, haven't been confirmed.

Kinect and move really won't do too much more then what is already being done.  They truly are more gimmicky than anything else.  People will buy them but use them very rarely to actually play games.  Most likely those with kinect will use it to navigate the menus.  It should have been marketed as a social tool rather than a gaming tool.

And lastly as I stated before xbox live is much better then the playstation network.  PSN is just run poorly.  They have too much downtime, navigation is terrible, and going through the lists of items if you wanted to buy something?  Ridiculous.  Just a simple search could bring up hundreds of items you weren't looking for, and having to scroll through them all for the 1 that you were takes forever.  Xbox has plenty of sortable lists, and easy features to find exactly what you're looking for. Its just a better design, albeit with less functionality.

Not sure thats the case anymore. Live doesn't really offer anything that I can't get on PSN.

I have the Wii , PS3 and Xbox360 , i only use the Wii now and again , the Xbox i use the most for online play and i use my ps3 for watching blu-rays , now i would use my ps3 more if they sort out the online service , heres an example , on the xbox i think its great i can go and play a game and get an invite from a friend to join a xbox live party  , join him and we can talk while we play diffrent games etc... and the fact u can make a party and invite lots of friends then all go into the same game together in your OWN PRIVATE party , then u can talk and play , but on the ps3 you have to be in a game then invite your friends and you cant have it set to private so you can hear everyone.. its crap , if they just add PS3 Party thingy i would start to use it alot more.

Like I said I own both but one hasn't had a good exclusive for almost a year and it's online service is damn near dead for many of my games. When I log into SSF4 and 10 people are on the psn and over 400 are playing my 360 version I tend to go with the more active console. I would love for it to be better but it isn't.
