I do not think they are planning to make this rated M. So how far can they go? Holding hands? A peck on the check? Dry humping a pant leg? A tickle party?
On a a side note: If you bleep out expletives in voice over dialogue, would it still be categorized as an M rating?

"Hey baby, you wanna swap some midichlorians?"
But yeah, given how much opportunity for in-game romance (and in-character sex) there is with other players, I don't really see a need to have it as an NPC function. I think that most people that play these games for in-character sex have no trouble finding it.
I can't wait for the inevitable complaint of "but i don't want to have sex with another person, i want to have sex with computer!" (oh the irony!)

Did anyone else watch the MMO-Report and notice the little romance at the beginning of the TOR coverage? I saw the player character kissing some chick.
Does this mean theres gonna be romanceable characters?! I hope so
you have never played a bioware game have you?
plus the devs stated LOOONG ago you will have relationships with your companions, some will even leave you if you piss em off enough
Jesus christ why couldn't they have just made Kotor 3 and added some basic coop to it. Probably would have made boat loads more money.
You are like the first person I ever saw say that so let's not confuse "what would have made you happy" with what was the best option for them to go with, hell as some people say that's all this game is anyway.
but yeah, to call this game Fantastic is like calling Twilight the Godfather of vampire movies....
that makes sence. I played dragon age and sten decided he wanted to kill me lol.
Which made me sad, Sten was actually a nice guy, he can't help it that his society valued a caste system much more than individualism.
Should TOR have good 3-dimensional characters like that i might never have to touch the multiplayer part of it.
Sten wanted to kill my character as well, as he thought he would be a better leader, but you just had to teach him a lesson
Poor Sten could not wrap his little mind around the fact that I was a female fighter.
Some humorous dialogue ensued, " But you're a woman." "Yes." " But you fight." " Yes" "Then you can't be a woman." etc....
As for romance in TOR: I don't see it as virtual sex, I see it as a well-rounded world, where people have all kinds of relationships and are hopefully not artificially restrained due to someone's moral outrage. As a gay woman, I will be disappointed if only hetero relationships are sanctioned, but I would not be surprised. My feeling is if you are going to include the romance option, be inclusive with it. But I fear Lucas Arts will constrain Bioware in this regard. Ce la vie.

I thought Lucas Arts was pulling out of publishing this game?
Take the Magic: The Gathering 'What Color Are You?' Quiz.
It would be a cool feature to have, although not one of those really important features. But it adds a bit more depth to the RPing part of the game.
and now for a little bit of offtopic, since ppl reffered romance in other mmos
