is darfall vaporware?
the main site hasnt been updated for more than 6 months. there is no proof that this game has ever existed in any form. you can only find some interviews of developpers and that visit of Deyth (combine guild) in Athens, and thats all. Apart from text there are like 9 screenshots in which figures dont quite fit to the enviroment-background. only 9 screenshots in 6 months. the game s supposed to be in 'internal beta' for years now. there is some activity in the forums, but then again "If you want a real laugh go over to the official forums and see how many fools are over there "keeping the faith" for it." as people in the hype-meter say. People have been told that by actively participating in the forums they will be given beta accounts. and thats what they do. thats what i was doing a few months ago actually.
check the developer and the publisher's sites:
both under construction for as long as i remember, both directing the visitor to www.darkfallonline.com and giving no other info about anything. you cant even contact the people there. no address or anything except a couple of e-mails (contact@aventurine.gr and contact@razorwax.com) to be honest i havent tried contacting them.
check the comments in this site's hype-meter. some of the dissapointed people over there have been following darkfall for months or years, like me.

1) The website was updated here with the post and links to the dev Q&A session on September 28, 2004.

So it has only been two months since their last update.
2) Yes, there is proof Darkfall has existed. Many players in the community played the Alpha back in 2002.
3) The new website which is the one you see now was released in April 2004 and all the screenshots that were on the old website were taken down when the new website went up. I've seen hundreds of DF screenshots and they all look very very good. For more screenshots look at IGN's 10 articles on DF or other fan sites like http://www.darkfallchronicles.com
4) The ones you call "fools" on the official forums will be calling you a "fool" when they are playing Darkfall beta and you're drooling with your face scrunched up against your computer screen searching for more Darkfall info.
5) The devs announced "internal beta" in Fall 2003, so no it has only been about a year (not years) so far in "internal beta."

Every game that is in development is technically vaporware. Every MMORPG now on the market was at one point vaporware. Including that lame ass PvE clone MMORPG you're paying $10 a month to play right now.

vaporware means a game that is giving their customers false hope. darkfall is an example.
You just caught yourself in your own conundrum. There are no customers
because no one is getting paid.
This is what really irritates me about people who call Darkfall vaporware. You people think
you're entitled to something. As if there are "customers" who deserve a released game in a certain
amount of time. The Darkfall devs don't "owe" you or anyone else anything.
If they fail to release the game, so what? They tried to make the game we all want to play. They still have an "A" in my book for trying to make a game most hard core MMORPGers want. I'm certainly not going to go around trash talking their efforts by calling their game "vaporware" while they are busting their butts working on it.

Is there any proof of that? Dev posts, screenshots, previews, anything? We both know there isn't, so why lie about something that never happened? I've never heard about anyone testing their game, and I've been following this game for a long time...

Well pictures from alpha 3 years ago isn't really proof that the game is still being developed. It doesn't seem like the game will ever get a release or at least one anytime in the near future. It would have been nice but it doesn't seem like anyone will be able to play. COuld be wrong but it doesn't look that way

Argueing over whether a game is vaporware or not is stupid. Mythica is Vaporware. UO2 and OUX are vapoware.
Until there's a statement from the Razorwax or the game is removed from this game list, It's a mmorpg in development.

This game will NEVER be released. I doubt if there ever was a game in the first place.
Even if there was, what kind of crazy development story are they telling anyway? some guys from scandanavia making it in athens..... Doesnt sound too promising.
For the game they claim to be producing they have too small a production crew and are most likely way underfunded.
Oh btw, they've been setting the release back continuously since 2002, and the devs give virtually 0 feed back .000000000018 posts per day, whats up with that, like it takes more than two mins to say "look a picture, we makin progress."
Its like the same question i ask christians, How many years are you going to wait for christ to not come back before you wake up? another 2000?
but nvm what i say, just be sure and keep the faith going, that way, in 2009, when they promise release is just around the corner, you can all tell me how wrong i am , until they push it back to 2010 then i can laugh at you

A] You dont even know if the Devs came from other companies or are experienced with making games. You just assumed that because the company is new that the developers are new too.
B] Even if this is their first game, all of them have stated that they are gamers, first and foremost. I'm willing to bet that they know where common bugs/glitches lurk and how to fix them
C] The Devs are perfectionists, taking their time. I bet that most of the major bugs are worked out already.
With that aside, after beta and the launch of the game, i dont forsee a huge amount of bugs, at least not compared to other MMORPGS. Should be about average.

I'm the biggest Darkfall fanboi, but this is the darkfall forums, and this thread is named "is darfall vaporware?" They have the right to talk about any aspect of the game (weather its in or assumed), good or bad. If you dont like it, just stay out of the threads that say darkfall is vaporware.

I read about this god forsaken game In 2001!!!!!!!!!! Now excuse me, but the site really has no new updates. If this game is not vaperware why the **** is it not beta yet? All you hopeless fanboys if you want to email me it is gnarring@shaw.ca
