DC Uni - It's sorta Blah to me at the moment and seeing what happen to Champions going F2P, one can hope it doesn't follow along with it but after playing City of Heroes for 3 1/2 - 4 yrs I still think they do the best at the Super hero/comic MMO Genre

Rift - I'll need to read more on before I try to make an asessment, this seems like an interesting concept and outside the box thinking compared to other MMOs.. so kudos on the Dev's part..

GW2 - seems to be the most hyped here, and I did enjoy the 1st GW a bit.. good P2P exp but it was free and people liked that.. expecting GW2 to be the same in that part and maybe an intersting story as well as gameplay.. we shall see

Star Wars - Well at 1st I thought (yeah I know there's gonna be hate coming from this comment, thats the way things are lol) "Its Star Wars, moving on" been then seeing Bioware is involved in this one and there well known for making awesome RPGs.. this seems like it'll be a really good title and I hope it does well

Tera - Like Rift the Devs are trying to test new waters with some things that haven't been tried in MMOs and I personally like the way it looks and the system looks unique & Like someone said in a post I've seen, This game is sorta like the underdog in this line up trying to go up against big names.. but being nominated is against them is awesome alone and hope this game does great! =)

If I had to go with one, I'll put my vote in with Tera.. Looking for to trying this game te most out of the others on release

SWTOR, hands down. Even with heavy doubt, it is the one I am most curious about.

every new information about GW2 shows how good this game wil be

  • J0K3R_3DJ0K3R_3D Member Posts: 82

Voted for the sleeper hit of the century, TERA.

And lol to all the false negative posts about the game. Unlike Aion, all FGT players and even those that just recently played the Korean Beta are commenting on how there is no grind. F***ing NCSoft ruining a good game by sucking as usual.

Anyway for me its TERA for obvious reasons. Then GW2. Then SWTOR ... but only because its Star Wars. Not interested in the worlds first "may as well be single player" MMO.

Well, I think ToR or GW2 will win the contest. I personally think TERA will be the best. Mainly from a PvP'er's perspective.

Rift/ToR are for pve'ers. GW2 could be good, if tera is bad I might try that, but like the first GW I do not think that game will hold my interest.

Rift - Could care less about the rest really but...

    DCUO

    ToR

    Tera

GW2 (It still boggles my mind people like GW, worst game ever)

I chose GW2 but I am anticipating TOR and Rift almost equally. A tough choice, but from what we have seen, GW2 wins.

it is interesting that you should say such a thing, especially when the vast majority of the "hype" is purely information on what Anet already has working in the game (pretty much verified by the convention demos at Gamescom, PAX, Paris Games Week, New York Comicon...), so the problem of not being able to deliver on their promises (one of the problems other MMOs have had when hyping up an MMO) doesn't really apply.  you claim they are overdoing it, but because most of the information that Anet gives about the game seems so awesome to the people who care, it is labeled as hype when, in reality, the community generates enough hype on its own after each small release of information and each interview.  This hype still gets the attention of new people all the time (so why let up?) and helps spread information about the game that many people would not learn otherwise (mostly because the game is so different from other MMOs that many would not think to find out about some of the cool features that GW2 has).

tl:dr...overhyping would require that everyone was getting flooded with information about the game and that Anet has converted everyone that they are going to over to being GW2 fans, and, because I feel that this is not the case, I disagree with you.

I used to TL;DR, but then I took a bullet point to the footnote.

DCUO, The Agency, Guild War 2 and Rift.

Rift... not so much my favourite, but, the most likely game out of the bunch that i would actually play..  Tera, okay i admit it.. i just dont see the attraction in a game with anime char's of this type.. somewhat bizarre, but.. maybe it will catch on?  GW2, i tried GW1 and wasnt impressed at all, which makes me a bit dubious of the second incarnation, maybe it will be better.. it couldnt be any worse ;D ... SW:TOR, meh.. overhyped barely covers it.. so many features of this game just don't impress at all, the most standout feature that dissapoints is definitely the space tunnel shooter bit... that part of the game should definitely have been kept out of the limelight..  DCUO... seriously? yet another superhero game, in a steadily declining genre.. i predict that even STO will be more successful than this game! overall.. im not seeing anything coming out next year yet, out of that batch, that rates more than passing attention..  i seriously think that hype is killing games :(

Its a shame there isnt a "none of the above" option. I have zero interest in any of those listed games.

True, but he do have a point anyways, the hype is a bit too extreme. Anet will deliver what they promised but I think many of the people who are hyping the game actually don't know exactly what Anet have promised them.

Anets view on items is one such thing, many people seems to be thinking that GW2 will handle gear like Wow even though Anet stated several times that there will be no uber gear and most gear at the same level will have similar stats.

I think many people will love GW2 but I also think many will hate it, and if it was a bit less hyped we would not get such large flame war here at the release as we will now.

Still, it is a lot better than many other games. I remember when Mythic announced that they cut out a third of WARs content just a little over a month before launch, and pretended that it would be patched in ASAP after launch, including those 4 mythical cities they probably never even started on. ANET at least tries something out before announcing it, even if they might do changes with it later.

DC universe: I don't get the idea of a superhero MMO... playing as batman sounds like very boring and stupid.

GW2: Looking nicely, bit cartoony though. I have to say I didn't do much research into this one.

Rift: Looks good and from what I've heard and seen, it will be amazing (:

SWtoR: I hate cutscenes, I can't stand graphics that were already bad 10 years ago, I hate space based combat. A no no for me, it will fail so hard.

TERA: It's an Asian grind MMO, and En Masse can't change that. Revolutional gameplay? Oh come on, look at Dungeons and Dragons or The Chronicles of Spellborn for example, they have the same sort of gameplay and did they get so extremely succesfull? It won't fail, but it certainly won't live up to the hype.

Although I probably will end up playing GW2 as I prefer buy to play over pay to play,  I voted for Rift as I think it will do the best of the 5 listed MMO's. My actual most anticipated MMO being Arche Age though (:

  • Rift or Guild Wars 2. That's hard to choose since both of these two peak my interest. All I know is that if Rift turns out amazing then it will be my P2P mmo to play along side Guild Wars 2.

    DCUO - meh

SWTOR - Was excited about this but from what I read and seen it disappointed me greatly.

TERA - Stopped playing Korean mmo games all together. I hate their grind heavy game play, lack of content and spending so much time on making pretty graphics.

Voted GW2, but I am waiting for all of those. order of preference is:

    1. GW2, Rift, DCUO

    4. Tera

    5. SW:TOR

  • Methos12Methos12 Member UncommonPosts: 1,244

GW2 without a doubt, although Rift also has me interested on the sidelines.

    DCUO-Another superhero game? Seriously ... ?

GW2-GW1 has its specific charm, but not my cup of tea at all. May be a pleasant surprise after launch.

Rift-I see nothing that would make me look foreward to this game. One of many, i guess. Nice screenshots though.

SW:TOR-SW lore rocks, maybe after galaxies the TOR will be another game reforming the MMO genre. Maybe. So far it looks like enhanced STO to me.

Tera-my personal game of choice, fast gamestyle, from creators of L2 (until interlude), westernization and no NcSoft makes it my number one.

some good games in the list, but I was always going to chose rift regardless of the opposition. Looking forward to this game more than the world cup coming to england in 20... 30

    I'm allowed to dream :(

Well avoided voting initially as there are so many "polls" and "vs WoW/killer" threads assumed this was another! lol.

Anyhow as it seems official I cast my vote too. Have to say from the posts already made, most of the reasons to support/vote for an MMO are very vague. Guess anticipation is the name of the game?!

    Here's a run down:

5-Tera - No chance - it's culturally too different and needs a westernization. I'm not interested at all, and beginning to wonder if I have a STRONG preference/prejudice for Western only games? Even the faq has a: Westernization process for the game. but I find that hard to accept especially as the graphics are so evidently eastern? Action/combat sounds decent however.

4-DC Universe - not interested in the theme/comics, but could be fun.

3-Bronze: Rift: 1. Has dynamic content called rifts, like the graphics and overall decent features eg pvp, classes, soul-system. However looks a lot like previous mmos but polished up. So a firm 3rd place.

2-Silver: SWTOR 1 Bioware storytelling, Star Wars Universe, still a lot of unknowns, like the graphics and voice work. Combat seems a bit weak atm but the game I suspect will be massive and immersive and will feel different to other mmos so will be a good second choice if push comes to shove.

1-Gold: GW2 1. Combat system 2. World pvp 3. Competitve pvp 4. Dynamic Events 5. artwork 6. extensive lore 7. Information and Innovation from the devs/blogs and demos (gamescon, pax etc) provides most evidence for this game imo. "Arise Sir... "!

I voted for SWTOR as most anticipated.  I'm not sure i'ts going to be the best out of the nominees, but I'm highly anticipating it.  Perhaps because BioWare makes pretty good games and it's their first MMORPG...oh, and the IP doesn't hurt either.

Put me down for Guild Wars 2.

Rift has me glancing over at it once in awhile. So if I could vote for two, this one would also get a vote.

Other three aren't even remotely interesting.
