You guys don't think they call the project Titan right now because they believe it will dwarf any other game in sub numbers?
While I don't think neither Greek or space is impossible both are pretty hard to make a best seller out of. I would think something low fantasy have the best potential to sell without taking all Wows players at the same time.
Something close to "A game of throne" could be huge.
How much you like to believe that , its sadly a NO go , they hired BUNGIE not for nothing , greg street (if the surename is correct i am doing this from my head) aka Ghost Crawler
Was also on the HALO MMOFPS project .
The reason they shifting into SCI FI , is simple they conquered the fantasy Genre , nothing they need to do anymore.
They conquered the entry market into the fantasy Genre , introduce any newbie to WoW and they will LOVE it .
Introduce them to another fanatsy setting , they might like it or love it or be put off .
Most people who never played MMO in there life , will like WoW .
Thats a simple fact , if they already hate WoW no other game can gain them entry into a MMORPG.
One of the reasons they wont try another Fantasy Genre MMO for a long while , till WoW is shut down .
Titan is probably just a codename and.... yeah, it looks like their new mmorg, I think they havent announced it yet to avoid making any shadow over the shiny Cataclysm expansion.
This market is so easy to succeed in,this is why SOE went that route a couple years back.Thing about kids games ,is moms wil ldo anything for their kid, they will buy them that game for christmas and buy them a subscription if the game is geared towards kids.So you hook the whole family into a subscription, money is rolling in.
Older gamers can't really influence their friends to join them in a MMO,but kids?Man oh man, they follow each other like wolf packs, kids games are an easy sell.
NPD is the big hype machine most of the big devs use,NPD is the giant that likes to post higher sales numbers to boost hype, and so happens Blizzard is a huge employee of NPD.NPD also gives these devs the inside information into what direction to go fro game development,so I am positive Blizzard is at least making one of their new games a kids game.
What i mean by kids game, because i know these are all kids games,is a game like Wiz 101 or Soe's Free Realms.
I also believe since Blizzard has ties with COD and sees the massive millions it is making, they might also be working on a war shooter type game.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
it would seem strange to me to create a whole new sci-fi based mmo on a completely new i.p. when you could not only harvest the massive fanbase and huge lore of starcraft to create a new sci-fi mmo, it doesnt make sound sense to me to not tap into your existing catalogue for such a huge undertaking
The Name BUNGIE is good for more then 1 million fans :P
Thats a big difference how much impact , he made with HALO project .
And every title with HALO in it , sold very good cause it has a good story line , interesting lore .
That they are willing to risk on him , is same way NCSOFT supported Tabula Rasa .
I dont think its a bad investment , or a big risk to invest into BUNGIE , he has known to have a vision , thats both flexible and adaptive , good guy to work with and work for .
So it does make sense in my case , to try make another MAJOR IP that can farm over into a lot of settings , instead of MMO setting only .

Still, I rather not play Halo online.
And you know, just because someone made one type of games before does not mean he always will make the same kind.
Besides, Kaplan was the lead designer of Titan last I heard.
Maybe Blizzad just are hiring Bungie to polish up Starcraft: Ghost for a release? I could see how it annoys Activision to have a game like that lying around without being able to release it.
I just don't see how an online version of HALO or something similar could outsell Wow. Not even if they can get most of the halo fans into it.
Yeah, Titan is just a codename, just brainstorming there.
Halo MMO is not going to happen, simply. They already have the basic lore for the IP, and they were talking about the possibility of a new franchise and its challenge for a couple years now.
Titan sounds like something the internal dev team would call a pretty big project which hasn't even been fleshed out property yet. And no, MMOs are not the only big projects gaming companies undertake.

Maybe they'll do Titanic online.
Ok, now I'm confused. How would THAT MMO work in the first place ?
Maybe its set on Saturns moon Titan . I would think it will be sci-fi and maybe a first person mmo . I would'nt expect another Warcraft or something that is anywhere nearly as successful as WoW .
Titan is a unit from Starcraft, its just the project name, though there could be some relation between choosing that project name and the actual content of the game it represents.

Sci-fi isn't only space
A link to the MMO set in the Halo Universe which was codenamed Titan (maybe coincidence).
Monk also notes that, since Ensemble's closure, a number of Ensemble staffers have since moved to Blizzard - not least of all Greg Street, known to World of Warcraft fans as Ghostcrawler.
Whatever it is, they've already said it's gonna target even broader audience than WoW. In other words, it's even more 'accessible' than their current flagship.
Remember guys, the Nintendo Gamecube was code named "Project Dolphin"... absolutely no correlation between the two. It is a code name that probably has nothing to do with the content itself.

I have already checked that and most points still lead to the Titan MMO being a sci-fi halo-ish thing, after all the connections he made he still somehow believes that the two "titans" have no connection whatsoever. Either the MMO from Bungie or from Blizzard will be in the Halo universe (or Halo reskinned to avoid legal issues). Either if one wants to accept or deny all the clues presented is his own call tho.

imho they will try to compete with the new warhammer game
but thats just my toughts on it.
I'll be sitting here waiting for D3 for now and not trying to think about a game thats still YEARS away
Well cause you rather not play HALO online mmofps , doesn´t mean a tons would .
They are not targeting a individual taste , blizzard/activision has changed into a cooperate enterprise of grandscale
A individual taste doesn´t matter , as long it brings in money .
Kaplan is good for barking , that he does very well , but doesn´t mean he doesn´t understand how to manipulate people .
Or what simple choices you do , to make a project succeed .
It doesn´t mean he understands the scope of a MMOFPS , thats why they brought in Bungie .
Nah they are gambling on a big new IP in both RTS FPS and MMOFPS .
Since thats what they want , they can always revert back to world of star craft anytime .
Anyway time will tell if there vision of there loyal fanbase pays off , first thing to show indication is world of warcraft movie.
Is there blind adoring loyal fan base going to watch a master piece of crap like that , or did they just invested badly .
Cause there fanbase rather raid for epics , then go to the cinema , or will they tag buy a ticket get a vanity pet .
To definetly SELL THE CRAP MOVIE .
2011-2012 will be interesting indeed .

Can't wait for Blizzard's Titan MMO!
TITAN ?
Sounds like Blizzard is aiming for an unsinkable game, like the Titanic.
SCNR
Ok, now I'm confused. How would THAT MMO work in the first place ?
Plus its a very un-blizzard-like idea. Blizzard doesnt take chances. They do strict mainsteam games only. Until it bleeds.

With 'Phasing' of course. *disturbed laugh*

Cmon dude, I was kidding.
Well, so was I.
Maybe its set on Saturns moon Titan . I would think it will be sci-fi and maybe a first person mmo . I would'nt expect another Warcraft or something that is anywhere nearly as successful as WoW .
Can't 'Titan' be some kind of revolutionary new technology Blizzard are planning on integrating into WoW?
Like expanding cross-server interactions essentially making all WoW servers into one. Sounds like a 'titan' to me.
Heck, it could also be a release from a sub-contractor.
Titan is a unit from Starcraft, its just the project name, though there could be some relation between choosing that project name and the actual content of the game it represents.
It is all speculation though.
T.I.T.A.N is an an acronym.
Go.....
I'll start,
This Is Totally Awesome Now. Hmmm, no that's terrible.
How about...
Tauren Island: The Apocalypse Now
The Idea: Terminators and Ninjas
Sci-fi isn't only space

Because you don't know that they've yelled at us many times that it's a new IP?

I'll pass this 'titan', thank you.

Back to the start i guess... check Blizzard Titan
