Hello Everyone,
We sincerely apologize for the downtime this weekend. We had some hardware issues that caused us to have to tread very carefully in bringing the game back up. We wanted to triple check everything to make sure there wouldnt be any major problems, and its taken a while to both fix the problem (we had to fly out engineers from one of our hardware vendors) and to bring each of the servers back online because of the careful validation process we need to go through. We have to do this very carefully and we hope you can understand our desire to do this right. We're trying to balance that with getting the game back up as quickly as possible. So far most servers are back up and the rest should be up in the next 4-6 hours, hopefully less. I realize that ETA's that come and go can frustrate people, so we do our best to give you the most realistic estimates possible.
Out of respect for our players, were doing the following:
1) Every player will receive 3 free days.
2) Early this week (Monday or Tuesday) we will have a 24 hour period where we will have accelerated XP gain. Details are still being worked out and well communicate this to you as we firm up the plans.
We are committed to providing you with excellent service. Our team has been here for over 40 hours straight, and I can tell you our dedication to doing right by our players is the thing thats foremost on everyones mind here at SOE.

I agree. Although I bought this game and quit it because I do not like it (Not that I like WoW or anything, this isn't a flame, just burned out on all EQ-ishque MMORPG's) this is indeed a very good thing from sony.
If ignorance is bliss, you'd think people would be happier when you point out what morons they are!

Yup. Now that Blizzard have raised the bar, Sony know they can't get away with their usual godawful customer service any more.
Props to Blizzard for improving EQ2!
No matter what eq2 does you just have to bash it. What are you 12? Did SOE kill your family? Get over it.
Sony CS have never done anything like this, but now that Blizzard have set a new precedent they have no choice to buck up their ideas. You should seriously be thankful to Blizzard for raising the bar, because if you really love EQ2 so much, then Blizzard are effectively forcing SOE to give their customers better support. The fact that so many people are leaving EQ2 for WoW is testament to that fact.
It's a simple and obvious observation, and I felt it deserved to be pointed out. I'm really sorry it upsets you so much.
What golden standard has Blizzard set? They've had an MMORPG for what, a month? Let's not jump the gun and proclaim Blizz as CS gods.
They extended the initial trial period by four days for the connectivity problems caused by WoW's phenomenal, record-breaking success.
And Blizzard wouldn't have to be anywhere near Gods to outdo SOE's infamously dreadful customer service.
I agree, SOE has quite a track record of shit. I'm the first to admit that. But like I said, lets wait a bit and see what problems WoW might run in to. After some time we can then judge Blizz. I think Blizz is a good company, but let's just see them prove it for the long haul.

My original comment was reasonable. The only thing that made you see it as unreasonable was the fact that it forced you to confront the fact that the game you've decided to play is supported by one of the lousiest software companies in history.
If WoW is the best MMORPG ever, and Blizz has such good CS, why aren't you playing it more? Or at least spending more of your time on the WoW side explaining what makes it "the best ever".
Well I knew eventually you'd put two and two together and ask that question. I expected it to take you a little longer, so I guess you're slightly less stupid than I thought.
The green electron gun in my monitor isn't firing and I'm waiting for a new monitor to arrive, and as soon as it does I won't have to deal with invalids like you crying their hearts out when they have reality shoved in their face.

Yes, but as we've seen in the past, Jackdog, you'll just say whatever's necessary to make a discussion work in your favor whether it has any correspondence to reality or not.

Firemagic, do you think WoW was the first game that they gave free time for because of server issues? EQ, SB, AO, and some others all gave free time when they had server issues.
And all Blizzard's CS does is they ban you for 72 hours if you say "damn" or "bastard", while there are hundreds of people running around with speed hacks. Blizzard caters to the 12 yr olds... a guild had to change their name from "Knights of Gold and Beer" to something else, when it clearly states on the ESRB rating "Use of alchohol". Oh, and you have to wait 24 hours+ to even recieve a response from CS. Does that sound like good CS? Even SOE's CS isn't that bad, but I'll give Blizzard the benefit of the doubt since they're still on their first month.
I learned a valuable lesson last night. Just ignore firemagic. No matter what you say to him your wrong. And if you happen to spell a word wrong, he then uses it to try to validate his point. All in all, he is a child.
The best way to get rid of him is to stop responding to him.
