HEHEHEHE the mods are deep in online gaming nirvana
i cant believe the mods let this go on, this site really has turned into a piece of shit not even worth decaying back into the earth, kinda like a petrified turd, totally worhtless to anything
While I agree that things have gotten a little out of hand in this particular thread, I thought I'd comment on one aspect of one of fire's original posts...
My personal opinion is that most of the games out nowadays ALL learn (and borrow) from one another, in some capacity or another. Heck, it could be argued that a game like WOW (which I've heard many great things about, but haven't played myself) owes a lot of it's success to the pioneering efforts of other games that came before it (EQ, UO, DAoC, etc). I think that the companies that make these games almost have to 'keep up with the Joneses', and learn not only from their competitors' mistakes, but also from their own.
So in very basic sense, I think that the competition that exists between all these games is actually very GOOD for the industry, as a whole. Back in the days when there were so few (good) games out, I oftentimes found myself frustrated that my then-favorite game (EQ1) sometimes took a 'this is the game we made, take it or leave it' attitude. When I eventually left EQ1 for DAoC, one of the things that I liked most about the switch was the fact that DAoC seemed receptive to feedback, and responsive to their player community.
I think most of the good MMORPGs out there now take similar stances... they've come to realize that we (the playerbase) are their bread and butter, and ultimately... if they want to continue to HAVE a playerbase, they need to keep their fingers on the pulse of what the community wants in their games.
Of course, you can never please everyone, all the time.
As for this specific instance, I think Sony responded very appropriately. The game was down for about 24 hours total, and in return, they're giving everyone 3 free days, and accelerated XP for about 2 days. Personally, I applaud the move to do so.

i think ppl like Firemagic that post the way they do dont actually feel that way. i think they just do it to get a rise out of ppl, and nothing more.
i mean seriously...i find it hard to believe that there is such a perfect idiot like that on earth, without trying to be at least.
just ignore him and he will go away...it worked for his parents.
