1. Redesign gameplay for solo ability in all quests from 1 to cap. Whatever cap is and will ever become.
2. Add real pvp. Monster play is stupid. Give me a race, from 1 to cap, that HATES the goodies. Goblins, Orcs, Trolls, Worgs etc etc. Let me grow them up and grow to care about them during the process. I could care less about my monster toons, I never play them because they took nothing to attain.
3. Seperate Servers for F2P and P2P. Not because the P2P's deserve it, but more so we don't have to listen to them whine anymore. They can stay on their server until it dies from lack of elitist jerks.
1. redo the animations and character models. They aren't horrible, IMO, but they could certainly be better, and animations are the biggest signs of aging I notice in other older MMO's.
2. Make legendary items legendary. Like Erict said(for once I agree with him on something!), make them more like a pet. No... TREAT them more like a pet. You don't throw away a pet every 3 levels, nor should you throw away an item that's supposed to be "legendary". Go back to the drawing board on the ORIGINAL idea for LI's. Make epic quests for components so that your weapon feels more like part of the lore; living and breathing just as the raven on your shoulder.
3. Give us some advancement incentive to use social areas; alternate non-combat based advancement would be fine. Maybe the rewards could be convenience based, like more swift travel options at the stables, or quick travel to the town. This could go hand in hand with the reputation system. If you hang out at the Pony all the time, doesn't it make sense that you'd get some Bree reputation?
I think the Winter Theatre is a step in the right direction. Also, let us sit down on chairs, at tables, so we can all goof off with each other. Of all my suggestions, this would probably be the most difficult to get and keep people using it. But the theatre seems pretty popular; I think it IS possible.
2> Character graphics. Though I don't mind the direction of the clothing and the armor (Armor kind of pushes it).. Its the poorly designed character models and low-rez texturing that really is depressing.
3> ANIMATIONS. LOTRO has some of the WORST animations i've seen in an MMO. From combat animations to running and walking... They're dreadful. The combat animations are absolutely 100% clearly hand-made and show a distinct lack of any realy combative training. Its blatantly obvious that the animators have no medieval weapons knowledge. They look like children playing in their parents back yard.

I agree. completely. I think that was their original design.
I say make them like the race builder in masters of orion II.
You got a certain amount of "picks" or points. Becuase you were one race or another there were cetain things that were a give.
However, if you wanted to be more stealhty or better economics or good colonizer you would use your points.
Thing is, the more you used the greater the cost. You could take some negatives but only up to a certain amount.
This way you could create your race with some positives, would pay a lot for a greater efficacy in those positives but would have to take some negatives.
It meant you had to make choices.
Legendary items should be like this. At least in my opinion.

Graphics in general is my biggest one, they're awful, even in high rez with everything turned on to high. They just look terrible, especially the characters, they're atrocious. And the texturing of the landscape, especially outside Thorin's Hall is just terrible, you can see the pixels even fully zoomed out.
Continuity of zones, I hate instances zoning.
I agree with a previous poster, the animations are awful. Probably falls under graphics as well, but I think that one deserves a special shoutout of it's own.

It's interesting but I see you are a final fantasy 14 player.
Would you agree that the avatars in ff 14 are done exceptionally well? Hair that moves, the weapons fit neatly into their sheaths or conveniently and effortlessly appear on the back?
the little packs you have will move as you run along the path?
It's as if they really liked their avatars and put great pain in making them something to like. At least within the art design (for those who don't like the art design).
I really wish LOTRO"s avatars had that same attention to detail.
Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."
1. Something akin to WoW's Real ID system. I have friends in many different kins, who in turn, have many different alts. Adding every alt of all my friends is a little cumbersome (Not even sure it's possible), and I'd like them to know when I'm online with a character in a different kin.
2. Redo the old endgame content to make it more leveling friendly. (Angmar, Forochel, MM, etc)
3. Ability to log out to the server select screen. This kind of fits in with my first one. Yes, I am an alt-oholic.
Housing hook system has to go. It takes away any freedom one might have in decorating. The external decorating is great but again the hook system ruins everything. I like being able to place anything anywhere which the silly hook system prevents and although the atmosphere in dwarf housing is great and all some areas need more light .I know its the cave thing but even caves have lighting but in some ways it does add to the charm.
Being able to swim underwater would be nice.I always admired how Everquest managed that ,so many other games since then ignore that axis. Underwater combat might be nice too with breathing restrictions.
How the female elf and human run good lord can we change those animations please.
First of all, no, no, no to world pvp in ANY form. If I want to PVP, I'll go play Aion instead. I play LotRO because of the fantastic pve. PvMP is fine just the way it is.
With that out of the way, here are my three biggest problems with the game.
Icons: I'm not sure what it is, but the icons for your attacks and such are simply horrible. Look at the quality of WoW or Aion's icons, then look at LotRO's. They're simply horrible. It looks like they're taking full-size icons that are like 4-5 times that size and then shrinking them down to fit the game's layout. That just doesn't work. You have to design them at the target resolution.
Character models/animations: Most people agree that this is the one place where LotRO falls on its face. Turbine's art department seems to be fanastic with textures, lighting, and landscape, but their character model and animation people need to be replaced. They're simply horrible.
Housing: Housing needs a revamp, starting with the removal of the hook system. I would also like them to repossess houses that have had a payment in ages, but that'll never happen.
As an honorable mention, I would love to see them remove radiance, and replace it with a full-set buff that gives you +1 hope for the mid-range sets, and +2 hope for the very best armor sets when you complete it (and this hope buff stacks with all others). These would also have a +1 hope buff when you've completed half the set.
Absolutely abysmal art direction character wise, (not environments!) This is one thing that keeps me from playing the game for any extended period of time.
Who's idea was it to let the NPC's look better than your own toon? NPC's should get the crappy textures not us!
This has been discussed sooo many times since the release, thanks Turbine for listening!?!?
2. Better loot
Nothing is ever dropped that is worth while, and if there is a drop it looks exactly the same as I was previously wearing.
Buying loot from NPC is useless, as they never sell anything better than you get from quest givers.
Needs way, way more item appearances. Everything looks the same, just with color swipes. That is LAZY, let my character stand out from others please!
3. Animations/effects
Just needs a once over to fix certain things..running animation I'm looking at you
Would like more particle effects on clashes, magic etc. They are ok but can be so much better
2.The classes (add new classes that are more interesting or overhaul the classes to be more interesting)
3.Remove radiance.
I'm not playing LotRO, but when I tried, I really was put off by the character models and the lack of interesting classes to play. So if they were to give that an overhaul, I might take another look. Wishful thinking, I know.
One thing that I'd like to see turbine change is the ability to log out to the server select screen. I have characters on more than one server and I hate having to exit the game completely and restart it to change servers.

I will agree with number 2. Lotro has always lacked loot, Yes there is lots of junk loot and I mean junk. However there is little real loot that you can use that drops, and with all the tolken stuff for you to buy of the skimish vendors it even worse. We need some loot that makes you go gosh, now that I want.
I wasn't able to play this game more than like an hour or so. I did try to relaunch the game few times, since sometime you are just not in the mood, but no, was the same all the time.
1- seamless map i can't even beleive mmo are still using those zoning nonsense when seamless maps are all over the place, this simple reason is enough to not play this game
2- horrible graphics, honestly i'll rather play a 2d game than that, but i find most western mmo to have such low quality graphics. The only one that saem a bit better is Rift, and i'm not even sure, have to play to be sure.
3- immersion, which is pretty funny because you would think LOTR would be an immersion gem, but no it just felt like an other cheap mmo to me, the immersion was almost non existant, you didn't even feelt as it was related to the books or anything, just an other mmo.
When i see people rating this game so much i'm wondering really where did they got that, cause i wasn't even able to pass the first few hours.
Get rid of the item mall. They freaking sell everything. Gear, stats, crafting mats, pots, everything! Sorry, Lotro is now another pay to win game. Go back to the old subscription model.
Get rid of the random component on LIs.
Get rid of radiance already. They said they would soon, but still.
These would be my priorities, but there are many other things I would change.
Get rid of skirmishes. They are cheap recycled content and only promote more soloization.
Go back to the rare drop system for crafting unique recipes. The introduction of Beryl Shards only ruined crafting.
More group content. Not only the company has hardly added any group content lately, they have nerfed down tons of old group content to solo or small group.
Get rid of the token/bartering system. It's stupid. Nowadays many players just farm the first boss of an instance, rince and repeat.
Stop this new trend of going for level recaps. Simply add more content. With every level recap, the game has less and less high-end content. Instances rescaling is a very bad solution. So you grind your level X gear and suddenly you have to regrind the same place for the same gear, only that this time it's lvl X+5. That's the epythome of boredom to me.
Boost conjunctions again. They have been nerfed so much that most experienced players simply ignore them nowadays becouse you actually loose DPS if you use them. The company said literally that they did it becouse this way skilled players do not have an edge. It's ridiculoud.
Make crafting meaningful. Nowadays it's useless. Not even scholars and tinkers now make money.
Yeah, I realize it's plenty of stuff I don't like about this game. I loved SoA, I tolered MoM, I hated SoM, so I cancelled. No interest in coming back for the time beeing, free to play or not, but you never know, they may change the game back to what it was.
1. Progress the timeline forward, to AFTER the ring was destroyed. Make the game about helping Aragorn (or his competitors) restore rule. This could open up opportunities for other factions: More PVP oppurtunities -- not everyone, like the unemployed/unguided orcs and trolls, will be happy with the new dynasty of Elessar. Racial Starting areas could be the different Battlefields of the War of the Ring: Hobbit characters would start during the Taming of the Shire, Dwarf characters could help defend Erebor, Elves would be involved in the battles in Mirkwood or Lothlorien, Humans would have several choices like Minas Tirith, Erebor, Edoras...
2. Make Elves (specifically Noldor), Rangers (Dunedain) and Trolls and Wraiths special classes and races. Players have to reach some level of acheivement to allow them to be a playable race. Being a lore Nazi, I would prefer some sort of of quiz...
3. Support the Moral Mechanic. The books are filled with examples of characters waking up in some sort of healing haven, ie: Rivendell, Gondor...
Well, that's three, but I would love to go on about the levels and gear and classes and LIs and RKs and...

Gaming since Avalon Hill was making board games.
Played SWG, EVE, Fallen Earth, LOTRO, Rift, Vanguard, WoW, SWTOR, TSW, Tera
Tried Aoc, Aion, EQII, RoM, Vindictus, Darkfail, DDO, GW, PotBS

I'd change only one thing: the title (since it has very little to do with Tolkien and a lot to do with cliched game design).

1 Add playable enemy side
2 Add world PvP
3 Well because you said three things I say World PvP again
1. Remove levels make it skilled based (can only dream)
2: Remove LI and the idiotic grinding to make em better.
3: More areas to explore, more fluff and redo the toons so they actual look anatomic correct.
If it's not broken, you are not innovating.
