I personally tried the game and after trial period posted my impresions, likes and dislikes and in response I got flaming and insults being called troll and such things. That's the spirit I found also in-game and the main reason I quit.

I've never seen such a ghetto motion capture studio.

    Collector's editions are scams.

  • CaldrinCaldrin Member UncommonPosts: 4,505

Well tis the suit that picks up the motion you jsut need a bit of space to mvoe around.. this is what they have job done..

I agree with the OP, I have recently come back to Darkfall and its so much better compared to what it was at release. Character progression is so much faster, where it took me months to get my characters skills to what he was when i finished playing would probally take me a week maybe two at most now..

If you want an open world full loot PVP game with FPS style combat then this is the gaem for you it really is..

With the new expantion they are working on things are gonna get so much better.

As for your 2 week trial post im not sure what u said but yeah the forums are known to be bad LOL but i find most MMO forums are full of people like that...

As long as this games community is full of big headed elitists who love to troll and flame noobs it won't matter how many patches there are as that's the main reason most dont play Darkfail.

Another great example of Moore's Law. Give people access to that much space (developers and users alike) and they'll find uses for it that you can never imagine. "640K ought to be enough for anybody" - Bill Gates 1981

Darkfall is definately not worth it if its community is like what the posters here have described it.

I would have tried it if it were not for that theres no cap on skills, which means that those who have been playing the game since day 1 will stay better than those who enters the game later. I find that unfair as well as highly game-breaking & unrealistic (if we can talk 'realism' at all in an MMO).

I watched a video on YouTube about Darkfall, made by MMOHut; game seemed dead and it took like 5 minutes before he was able to find anything to kill. The mob he found look awful as well, so I was not much impressed by the graphics.

If anything of this have been changed, I might give it a try.

Make us care MORE about our faction & world pvp!

    Exactly!

That and the fact that they still have not capped the skills.   Without skill caps the game is a complete grindfest.

So have fun if you enjoy the game, but sorry it has a long way to go before it is ready for other than the really dedicated crowd.

    PVP game =/= sandbox.

Until unrestricted FFA PVP mechanics is changed, the game will not become anything 'more' than PVP game.

  • CaldrinCaldrin Member UncommonPosts: 4,505

The grind is no where near as bad as it used to be...

Yes mobs are not wandering all over the map they ahve certain camps and spawn points dotted around the place that are easy enough to find.

If your a semi dedicated player your looking at a pvp viable character within a month... of course not 1v1 with the vets who have been there from the start but u cant expect that.. anyway group PVP is where this game is at and within a month you can be joining and and doing tons of damage...

Infact vet recently created a post on the forums about how he created a new trial account and got a character up to a point where he could pvp in about a week.. with an hour by hour guide to what he did...

Character models aint the best thats true but the world looks really good.. and character models and animations are getting a massive overhall ni the next exp pack..

At least give the trial a go and remember to join a guild :)

Ummm sorry, but no. 2 years after release and they still don't have half of what they promised would be in the game at launch. Have they stopped the exploits and hacks? Have they fixed the skill system so you get some benefit for points 2-24 in a skill or is it still only bonuses at 25-50-75-100? Did they fix keep walls so they actually keep people out, or can you still run up the side of whatever they touch and jump right over? This game was a monumental failure at launch and they lied through their teeth day after day. I personally would never go back.

Its the same old fan spin. Theyre looking around themselves and realizing how bad the population is.

Without noobs to beat on, how will they keep their self esteem up?

    LOL

no game ever releases with the feature sets the promise.. AOC ,Mortal Online, Anarchy Online, EQ2.. i wont bother going on lol.

Not as many exploits now as there used to be, hacks are hardly used as people get reported pretty fast then banned but im sure there are gits that still find away around the system there always will be. Well people jumping over walls is because they are using spells, early one you pick up is called launch.. its a long cast time and a long recast time so you gotta get it right.. then when your in the air your easy to hit..

Not sure how u say it was a failure at launch there where issues but again every MMO has issues and every MMO is in contant development..

Sure this game aint for everyone but its deffo worth give the trial a go you might be suprised.

Another big feature they just brought is offline lvling for magic, you pay gold for offline lvling points so you can lvl your magic skills really fast at lower lvls now.

IMHO it is the best sandbox on the market. It's almost 2 years old so hardly new.

Your reading comprehension is fail. I said 2 years AFTER release, they still dont have shit they promised at launch. Get it yet?

Not as many exploits = fail

Still able to hack the game = fail

Launching over a wall is certainly not broken, WALKING over a wall = fail

    Offline skillups = fail

    Any questions?

Give us(me! me! me!) more PVE and I will play it for the rest of my life,

well atleast what I have left.....

  • bambookbambook Member UncommonPosts: 180

Lol whoever said this game is bad and they cant find anything is just not dedicated enough or doesnt understand what sandbox is. Or do you want a little glowing pathway sticking out of your character to a mob spawn so you just follow it? or maybe you want to type /MOB orc  and it spawns a mob on you at any place? lol Darkfall requires research , dedication and lots of time spent to understand the game, the more time you spent the better you become, just like EVE, UO, and many other sand box. Also Darkfall is the game you cant really call playing as much as other mmos, in this game you live, get into politics, into drama between clans, you dont just log in get a level up and go to work or sleep, you fully immerse in the world they have given us.

     true.

As far as skills go, wait until the next expansion where prestige classes will be added. Will they be the end all of grinding? Most likely not, but they will indeed reduce the required time to become viable.

For the community, there are more mature players than not, it's just the annoying ones that stand out. Don't let "community" prevent you from playing DF, get to know more people.

Darkfall needs more PvE content and the PvP needs to have some restriction.

I agree with others at the moment Darkfall is just a PvP game.

Great game though, i still have a subscription active, I hope Aventurine can pull off the next UO if given enough time.

I have to agree with this.  I don't play Darkfall but was very impressed with the two week trial. Based on what I had read on these forums (I will never use these forums as a basis on whether to try a game or not in the future) I was not expecting to like this game at all.  If I was younger and had more free time then I would probably make this my main game but I just can't dedicate the time to it for me to be competitive.  There were a few things that frustrated me but overall it is a solid game.  Most of the player base is nice and helpful but the small group of #$%hats that like to hang out at the starter areas and gank new toons are present.  All MMOs have these #$%hats.  The problem with Darkfall is that they have a much larger impact on the game than they do in other MMOs.

Grats to Adventurine on a fun element of game development (motion capture).

But they'd need to fill the world with interesting content and remove zerg-fest PVP for me to really be interested in the game again.

Basically the only way they could do that is have battleground like instances.  No thank you.

If Darkfall is a Sandbox, then Planetside and Global Agenda are too.
