You posted alotl, i cant even say i like nr 1, BUT i can say, i wish more ppl read this thread with all this great music, should be a must for all to have listened too! and it appears this it but the beginning, also some very nice choices
It's funny, because the CD for the C&C expansion, actually called "The Covert Operations" (which I still have from 1996) has the music in .wav. I used to load in in my car and it would play, the problem was the data track sounded worse then claws on a chalk board...lol

sadly nowadays most "old" music sounds like that, i remember listening to an old game theme, and then googling it recently,
never should have, the quality apparently really have improved alot these years
Most of the Final Fantasy games have really fantastic music. Dreamfall had some good stuff as well, but my vote for most epic goes to the a classic: the main theme from the Legend of Zelda games.
but then again, thats exactly why i brought this up. for most of todays music, is something we never forget, just take the example ot ff7 which was posted earlier, might sound like beeb to ppl used to 3dsound or whatever, but i liked it,
It was mentioned on this thread, but the CIV4 theme is up for a Grammy (a first for a video game music).
Too bad it's the only nice song in the entire soundtrack for the game. The Civ 4 soundtrack actually has a few of the same songs as Europa Universalis II, but EU2 has much better recordings of the songs.

The Legend of Zelda, A link to the past. the theme still (despite its nintendo sound, is a theme hard to forget,)

i know it might be ridicilous, but that list mad eme smile, simply from the sounds, so many memories from the 8bit and and up, would like to say amiga, but those sounds were even more primitive

Hopefully that'll mean game musics will get the prestige like movie soundtrack as they should.
Good music is good music whatever medium/entertainment it is on.

Anything Jeremy Soule (Guild Wars, Oblivion, Total Annihilation). AoC's music is up there too.
