I was a little upset about the rift quests myself, they are very underwhelming.. Until i read the beta notes and found out that those quests were only just place holders.. The real quests for the souls are suppose to be a lot more "epic" i guess.

Either way Rift isn't a grind heavy game.. AION sounds like it's more you're game, when it first launched i had to grind hundreds of mobs in the abyss (open pvp) to get a blue drop.. And it took about a 6-8hrs epic quests involveing going into the enemies world and fighting through them + mobs + a very hard instance to get you're first gold wep.. Then miragents is about a 2-6month grind (you're end game gear) that involves RNG..

But, because this type of style of MMORPG isn't popular in the west it has been changed, AION now drops as many blues/golds as WoW.. Face it man, grinding for gear is just a thing of the past.. I know i'am not a fan of it either but i'am not gonna bash rift because of it.. I've come to terms that loot heavy games i loved are gone until Diablo 3 possibley.

I'd just like to note that I play as close to a pure soul as possible. My warrior is Paladin/Reaver/Warlord. The 0 point from warlord gives me an aura that reduces mobs chance to hit by 5% if I recall. My reaver points give me some buffs from points spent in the tree and an added finisher. I'm terrible at video games but I think(big ego and all) I tanked as well as or better than any other tank build.

My Cleric is pure Warden with some Sentinel mixed in. The damage from Waterjet is pretty decent for a pure heal build. When I am doing quests I run nearly a pure Shaman build, it does actually benefit to split points into justicar here.

    Same with Rogue/marksman, mage/necro, etc.

I think that is probably the greatest advantage of the soul system, my way of playing doesn't have to be yours. =)

On topic, I really think you should earn souls and not just be given them =)

Drop the next-gen marketing and people will argue if the game itself has merit.

One of the main features of rift is the idea of having multiple souls and multiple roles.

Whenever something is one of your key features, you want to get new players to experience it.

I'm all for superhard quests for other 5 souls.  But first 3 are fine where they are.   They give you enough to experience both multi-soul speccing and multiple roles.    That let's you experience Rift.

And honestly, it's a lot harder to master 3 souls than to master just 1, so if you think that getting 3 vs one makes the game easier, you don't understand the game.
