I think people find this review sceptical because you've only focused on the positives and not really given the ritty gritty.
Lets face it, everyone says good things about a game they like, but people really want to know is the games faults, obviously also how the game works, but its by knowing the bad stuff that we can balance it against the good.
This game might tempt me to sway away from SW:TOR, even though im a huge starwars fan, I prefer sandbox MMO's than legacy games more like WoW.
Just try to be subjective and give both sides of the coin is my constructive critism, as it is the universal way that all humans define life, through opposites.
Anyone got a linkie to a grid map for this game maybe, please?

faults atm are combat (which should be getting patched soon) and it can be considered grindy. but if you have a tribe working together on common goals I guess would alleviate the grindy-ness.

Eh, is my personal Review. Sorry for not being subjective about a game I like, it's my opinions though, thus "My Review'" of the game. I have no problems answering question, and have answered many times what I feel is a shortcoming to the game, that being the Combat system. However, we've been told plenty of times that the Developers are also unhappy with it, so they plan on changing it.
Notorious hasn't let me down yet, and I've followed this title for about 2 years now. Was a little disappointed about it being pushed back (by about a year), but Jordi has explained clearly why that had to happen.

I'd like to ask a few question, forgive me if they have already been answered. Is there an overal lore theme in the game? Are there so called quests that are connected to the lore? Are there player made economies that range over the whole server? Does the combat system have multiple interesting skills, or is it just one or two basic attacks? Anyways thanks.
if you go to www.xsyon.com you can read up on the "lore". for the most part however there are no quests, your tribe leaders can create quests within the tribe, but there aren't any lore quests like other games. It's entirely sandbox in that regard.
about combat so far it seems just attack block parry, no special skills. its more of a crafting, building, terraforming kind of game atm than a combat one, but pvp and tribal warfare is definitely planned.
I'm going to give this one a look. It looks rough around the edges, but sounds interesting. I'm all for helping someone trying to put a ripple in the stagnant waters of the MMO scene.
Thanks for the review of the game. It's obvious you really like it, but it was certainly enough for me to check out the site and read a bit more. I feel like this is the sort of game I am almost compelled to support just because they've gone out on a limb and tried something really new. If I can find a few other Australians in game in the first month I'll definitely keep it around for long enough to see where it's going.

This is a current list of every skill in game including some skills that have not yet been implemented or have been canceled.
This may help. I don't know how many of these are ready Jooky is planing to slowly add new features(evolution).
And he's not going to tell us that he adds new content and leave it for us to discover. Exept skills, I guess.
The listt is old and there are few more weapon skills in game.
Hmm, looking forward to this game but there is ALOT of red in that list of skills. The full list looks rather ambitious but even still.. lets hope they can get more of the skills in at least ASAP.
Either way, very innovative approach they are taking..

The world is after apocalypse and all known technology is lost. We're starting primitive and new skills will be added when needed.

Just preordered together with a friend.
We were looking for a game that fits this description but were dissapointed by darkfall and mortal.
After reading trough this post I was convinced.
Getting a game and two months playtime for this money is solid.
practice what you preach
Can you grow your own crops in this game ?
Not yet, agriculture and animal tamming/ herding should be implemented during Prelude.

Anyone know of a simple comparison list with one column of "promised features" and on the other column a list of "Installed Features"
So we can see what's in, and what's not?
