At first when they announced the Guardian I wasn't too interested in it. After reading this and a few more articles this class sounds pretty damn good!
Me too. I thought meh, not my kind of thing at all, but reading the interview above where he goes into such depth, I've started to think, mmm, might be a pleasant change from my usual classes (hunter/rogue or some kind of mage).
Does anyone think the Guardian might be similar in play-style to the Paragon?
Not really. Paras just stand in the middle of a group and hit their shout-range buff skills on recharge, for the most part.
Oh, I hadn't realised. Didn't play often enough with other Paragons to form an opinion, I guess. On my own Paragon, I didn't just do as you've suggested. I tended to use my ranged attack first, before any buffs. Then again, I'm not a very skilled GW player because I didn't play the game long enough at one time, so my way was probably neither typical nor the most effective.
Well he is talking about mainly the Imagon build which practically 90% of paragons were. There were other ways to play but yeah, they were mostly a buff bot (and boring as hell to play in my opinion).

They certainly sound a bit boring if they just stand in the middle buffing ^^ So maybe my way, if a bit more noobish, was also a bit more interesting.
Oh, you could throw a few attacks in there if you wanted. A standard imbagon bar had a few slots free...but even then, it was basically a game of "make sure you're in shout range of all your allies, and hit the yellow buttons as they light up". Energy is a non-issue if you build your bar properly thanks to Leadership.
This new class seems fantastic, but I'm not feeling it.. maybe once I see some gameplay at PAX East I'll fall in love. For now, I'm sticking to the warrior.
