    The crashes were prior to and just after the last patch. They mostly seemed to be related to the number of people standing around in the melee training area griefing each other. :-)

    I haven't seen a crash since just after the last patch.

    I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.

    Mako you were in game earlier and admitted to never being in a beta before. So your "review" of the game based on beta is absolute nonsence since you have nothing to compare it to. The state of ER rite now is par for the course when dealing with small independant dev teams and even some of the large companies with millions backing them.

    - Physical collision/detection in this game is some of the worse ive ever seen. Character seems to walk on the air when hes on any curved surface. Movement feels like your sliding most of the time, getting stuck in simple places, getting KILLED for getting stuck in simple places. When you attack something with melee weps it feels like youre hitting air. Animations for all weapons are out sync with sounds and actions. Pretty much it feels like your character is disconnected from the environment. All this makes PVP and PVE a horrid experience.

    And ive played some MMORPGs with FPS elements like: Neocron and Face of Mankind, and these games are more than 5 years old and somehow still had better feel for controls.

    - grind is still there when you have to kill 5 of these mobs or go meet this NPC. Nothing sandboxy about that.

    - major video stuttering. graphics are somewhere on par with SWG and below AOC's; both of those games run fine my laptop, but this game stutters everytime it loads a single physic in the background.

    - useless structures placed around the map that seem to have some kind of use but in reality dont... I think its about time to not place useless crap like that in a sandbox mmo. INteractive objects lighting up yellow dissociates them from the game, same with question and exclamation marks that seem to be glued to NPCs heads.

    It feels like Atanasov programmed this game right after he finished university, and played only 1 or 2 MMORPGs in the past. Whoever is their lead progammer , he needs to be replaced. For me to like this game it has to have a total overhaul, excluding the gaming world and engine. I feel sorry for all the fanbois who in 4 or 5 months will be playing on empty servers.

    My rating for this game is: Horribad.

    And how long did you play the game? Did you unlock skills, craft items, explore the huge world, or PvP?

    I played the beta for 30+ hours and didn't see many of the issues you mentioned.

    Talk about not wanting to face the truth. Everything the OP has said is exactly what i have and still expierance in ER.

    I don't care if you want to spend your free time dogging on games you'll never play, but try not to be an outright troll like you are in the post I quoted.

    really? i wasted my time following this game, because its developer was making such beautiful promises which he never delivered and released an even worst version with all the lag, fps drops and other stutters. so id say your a flamer working your way up to a troll.

    wow you do know there a patch coming to fix them issues right

    i never got stuck. only thing op is 100% right on is the lag and stuttering but that will be fixed before release a tleast most of it. what you think they been doing for the past month you gusy should have seen the last patch O_O

  • musicmannmusicmann Member UncommonPosts: 1,095

    The only real problem i have with ER is the place you log into for the first time. Yes this is a sanbox game with no hand holding, but i think they should start you in a city, so you can start to venture out from there. i have used SWG a few times, as how i think you should start off in the game. Pre-cu was a perfect way to get into the game, get your feet wet and figure things out, without feeling kinda of lost in the huge world. You had bazzars, crafting tables, spaceports, trainers and social cantina's without ever leaving corellia. You also had a huge amount of meatlumps to grind xp.

    So with that being said, technical issues can be patched and fixed, but making the world work and fuction properly for the players so they get enticed to want to go out and explore and do all the things that a sandbox game has to offer is monumental.

    Well...I had make a new account with a new beta key to try it again tonight.   The rubberbanding with NPCs was not as bad tonight and it was somewhat more playable.  Still...it just runs terrible on my machine.  Constant stuttering and hitching just make it too hard for me to play.  It's worse for me than Warhammer at release, and WAR was pretty bad for me, although with WAR I was getting some stuttering and CTD's.  I am still going to wait a bit, I am currently enjoying Fallen Earth a lot more.

    It has become some kind of urban myth that WoW was somehow "all fucked up" when it launched. Other than the loot bug, and the servers being slammed because of the hype, there were virtually no bugs. I don't know how this rumor got started but, WoW was NOWHERE nearly as big of a mess as Earthrise is. I think people are trying to infer that one day [INSERT MMO OF CHOICE HERE] will be as successful as WoW even though it's garbage at launch.

  • WorstluckWorstluck Member Posts: 1,269

    WoW launch really was not that bad for me.  Neither was vanilla wow beta.  There were some loot bugs (hello constantly kneeling)  and server outages, but I've experienced much worse.  I have a bad feeling about ER's launch :(

    It's really sad to hear if it is as bad as all that.  Sounds almost like another Dark and Light sans the shady pre-order double billing hubbaloo.

     It really isn't. They are over exaggerating a lot. They got a beta key over the weekend along with thousands of other people for the stress test and logged on while the servers were in debug mode, got mad cause there were too many people in the tutorial, and once they finished, got ganked outside and cry because it's not their usual mmorpg that holds your hand while you cross the 15 mph street at midnight. Sorry, don't need a game to do it for me.

    Aside from the performance issues (in the beta, reserving any and all final judgment for release) there is nothing majorly wrong with the game. This isn't your standard mmorpg, carebears beware! Most of these "testers" are basing their opinions off of a tutorial. They expect a quest tracking system that tells them where to go, what to do, and probrably expect their character to fight while standing there doing nothing (it's fun watching them die cause they don't move). Controls need to be mastered, you have to move during combat while aiming at the same time. Turning is not hard if you hit tab and go into mouse lock mode (read as fps mode). there is no auto-lock on target in this game AT ALL. Many of these "testers" didn't even skim the manual (that pops up when you log on everytime until you untick the box that makes it do so) expecting it to be a copy/pasted system from all the other mmorpgs. They probrably had no idea what earthrise was at all before seeing "free beta key for earthrise" much less take a look at the website/forums to learn more about it, and then whine cause it's not like all the others. And the pvp! It's great already, I can't wait for later when the majority of the population has started getting skills other than gear tiers. Moving around actually has an effect in this game's pvp, you don't stand there a few feet away shooting each other colonial warfare style(and if you do, you aren't very smart).

    The game isn't going to be for everyone, and if it isn't for you, then move along and go back to your themepark. But for the rest of us, we will enjoy it for however long it's around. And IF it goes down, we will remember it with a fondness only found in the pre-cu swg players.

    Well all I know is this game is unplayable to me until they fix the mouse cursor issues. Tired of fighting with my mouse cursor to get it where I want it to go. Almost as bad as the mouse controls FFXIV had in beta. Damn thing doesn't even lock in the center when I hit tab, it goes off to the right of my screen..... wtf

    I usually don't post in these kinds of threads, but tbh, I just love how you decide he didn't play AoC just because he had an experience different from yours. I bet you could tell me where I put my keys too? Since you apparently just know things...

    Now, with the bastardish reply done, I just have to say that I too played AoC both in beta, early access and the months to come. Beta was quite disastrous, but early access and beyond weren't that bad at all (for me). Sure, I experienced some issues (mostly crashing on a loading screens now and then) but it was in no way terrible.

    As for Earthrise, I'm saddened to hear that the game is so unpolished... You'd think developers would learn by now, especially considering the examples of other games.... Ah well... I guess we'll just have to wait and see what the next 6months - 1 year bring.

    I have not experienced this. At all. There is the thing about the Melee-action, but this is quite subjective as I've seen this in basically every mmo save for The Matrix Online (ish). It's quite possible and quite fun to engage in PvP or to kill mobs.

    - grind is still there when you have to kill 5 of these mobs or go meet this NPC. Nothing sandboxy about that.

    {mod edit}

    EVE is generally regarded to be a sandbox but has plenty of such quests.

    - major video stuttering. graphics are somewhere on par with SWG and below AOC's; both of those games run fine my laptop, but this game stutters everytime it loads a single physic in the background.

    These are an issue, but since sunday's patch I have rarely found this to be distracting. My fps has increased to almost 60 fps and 40 on average. The game still looks quite good, especially considering it's desinged to be a single-shard mmo.

    {mod edit}

    Entirely subjective. You don't think it looks pretty, tough on you. {mod edit}

    All the grievances you've listed are either completely untrue or subjective issues. None of them game-breakers and certainly not uncommon for beta's of many succesful mmo's out there. {mod edit}

    It feels like Atanasov programmed this game right after he finished university, and played only 1 or 2 MMORPGs in the past. Whoever is their lead progammer , he needs to be replaced.

    I have actually been tracking the cause of the stutering, im pretty sure the reason is the game client is loading textures straight from your hard drive instead of precashing them in the video cards memory, the split seconds of fps drops you get is the game acessing the hd to load textures, from the responses iv gotten people with ssd dont have this problem due to their fast acess from the ssds, when it comes to the performance patch we actually got a thread going requesting for a update on when its coming out, devs are eerily quiet on that, so far it seems that its either not coming, built into the retail client or coming after the release, pretty much kicking the balls of the testers waiting for that patch to see if they will buy the game, atm the game is useless until they fix the fps issue.

    that makes sense, how many of you have SATA, SCSI or SSD drives? Anyone running the game with a 14,000 rpm cheetah? Come on people, this is a damn mmo, why should you have anything over an average PC to run one.

    I got a sata drive that wont help at all, to bad i dont got a raid going on the pc i use for testing, atm without a performance patch it looks like a SSD is a requirement for you to play without all the fps stutering.

    ppl need to realise.. that a game that so close to release cannt evne launch a proper open beta will be a fail.

    Still.. im astonished that people still gonna burn cash in it instead of saying to theese companies NO!

    Last example i think was Age of Conan that pretty much ensured  noene will ever buy a game released by FunCom in the next 10 years or so until people forget.. but the example didnt seem to work.. companies still continue to make same mistakes and trying to cheat their costumers over and over again.

    sad.

    ER does truly blow, I have played past the tutorial, played into the game for about a week.

    The graphics are weak at best.

    The game does not hold your hand is correct, and there is no quest marker for sure, however, the game gives you NO direction at all. The quests don't even give you an idea of which direction to even go. You get a quest that says go find this guy and talk to him. THAT'S IT! No, "he is down the hill in the next camp" or "head up the trail to the north" NOTHING, just a blind quest telling you what to do. So playing a game that wastes my time looking for the next step is a waste of money.

    Let's talk about combat, everyone is talking about how cutting edge and sandbox the combat is, well, it must be sandbox because the mobs can shoot through the ground. I was running from a mob, went behind the hill and was still getting shot, no it was not drain, I was still being shot. The agro range and accuracy of early level mobs outweighs early level players by a long way.

    Lag / FPS - Debug mode or not, the server is crap, was playing prior to the patch and servers being put into debug mode and the lag and FPS was horrible. The game is rendered in a strange way, client optimization is not complete but yet the company is promising a magic patch that is going to fix everything, lol, after launch!

    The failure of this game is going to be an EPIC combination of Dark and Light meets APB! The fanboi group will hold on till the very last day as Masthead has no choice but to close the doors on this money sink of a alpha they tried to rush to launch!

     dark and light.  they was scammers also failed because  it never got fixed and APb failed because its was  repetive boring game and the combat was borked. only thing wrong with er is some bugs and performance. much better shape than what mo was released in. mo performance was ok

    Tredo I was being shot through a freaking wall earlier today. I think special attacks from mobs are completely ignoring any line of sight considerations.
