First game ive had to contantly drink Red Bulls just to get me through a hour or two of gameing,
Few quests move on to new camp 50 ft away , few quests move on to another camp 50ft away , throw in a rift , rinse repeat.
I congratulate them on the polish but geesh this for 5yr olds, I have room for casual gaming but this aint a hold your hand MMO this is bang me in a nappy and drag me around by my umbilical cord .

I think you should post this a third time so people understand you mean business!
1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.
2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.
3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose.
Hey atleast its polished and stable ...i couldn't really think of any other positives
GW2 the future of MMO gaming
I agree but I dont want to be as repetitive as Rift, I think last couple of hours have put me into some kinda mental loop.
Its refreshing to finally see a thread with a calm critique of Rift instead of one using absurdly hyperbolic metaphors to polish the op's own cynical ego ... OH WAIT.
True...but on the plus side least he didn't include "wow clone" in there anywhere. That within itself deserves a +1 far as i'm concerned.

Ah the joys of being facetious, dude im so calm after my couple hours of play on this beta 6 that im borderline in a coma I almost thought it was the gameplay....O WAIT.
I also found the questing to be very boring, but the rifts / invasions / warfronts keep me away from those about 90% of the time.
The leveling by far is nothing new. It's fairly monotonous and boring, though since i occasionally can get into Role-Playing i can endure it for several hours at a time.
Since in almost any game i've viewed leveling as means to an end and not the main attraction of the game, it's repetition doesn't bother me too much. For what Rift is, it's excellent. But if people are looking for something 'new' then there is absolutely nothing for them in Rift. Even the soul system is remeniscent of other games (3 talent trees, set number of points, etc.)
I myself will be playing Rift quite frequently, however i understand how many people will not find it to their liking.
So the lvl 1-8 tutorial wasn't exciting for you lol....

so i ask ..why all the hype in the first place..was it just all the wow lovers wanting a simalar game?
I'm happy I've found another game where there are classes I like and I'm having fun. I don't expect it to keep me interested for long but if I can get a couple of months out of it that will be fine.
You are being HIGHLY sarcastic. I assure everyone that hasn't tried this game or those who only played for an hour that this game is NOWHERE close to what this person is claiming. You are free to roam and do as you please. There are several quest hubs and questing alone isn't the only way to level. You have Rifts, Warfronts, Dungeons, Region-wide events, and Questing... That's more than any other game out there.
No we are just happy to have a great game to play that isn't WoW, i know it's hard to imagine but there's alot of gamers out ther5e that just could never stomach WoW's childish nature...
So for the people that are sick of WoW or could never stomach it in the first place Rift is a great game to play and will do very very well in the next few years..
And if Trion plays there cards right they could have a AAA title that holds a very large population..

O bless your little chain steel socks trying to be clever, I been in last 3 betas highest few around 28 ish but to concur little with that intellectual wit that you have there , 1- 8 was about the same as 9-17 and 18 to 25.
But getting anyway from you if thats cool, post above that states its great for what it is I agree with but doesnt change anything as far as my opinion is concerned, sure game will do well but damn its small in everyway.
And you play Aion LOL...

I agree
RIFT is the best, of the best for themeparks. It will have it's own success and many WoW refugee's will be in love with the DOAC class format. To anyone who played MMORPG's for a long time... RIFT is just to remedial mechanics, with great polish. Nothing more.
Which is what many want, something easy and familair, with it's own stylization and theme.

Maybe you need some friends to play with, go try and do the Ancient Wards stones you might have some fun...

Been playing mmos for about 9 years, and it is still fun as hell for me :P But then again I was raised on Ragnarok Online, Anarchy Online, and Lineage 2, so I am not nearly as burnt out on themeparks as most of you seem to be.
My god has horns.... nah, I don't think he is real either.
Same i still have my 13 year old account in UO on the Sonoma shard and catskills shard and find Rift to be a nice and refreshing experience... But then again i have never played WoW and never will so maybe thats why i'm not so butt hurt like alot of others on these forums...

My post counts might be low but I've been a member here quite a few years before you. AND..
I approve of RIFT. Preordered and 6 month founders sub.
If this game isn't your cup of tea move on or atleast post in the same hate threads. To bad the mods here do not seem join threads together like they should be.
As much as im dieing to face palm you I will give credit to your reply, I have no doubt on release this game will be even better with social interaction and communties and friendships building and may just may have had little change to my todays borefest...but alas I feel my friends would have been just as bored well 2 actually were and logged before me, but i agree with the social element has always been core to any MMO as far as im concerned specially back in EQ1 days, it enhances any experience if theres new eperiences to have that is, I guess this maybe a flaw.
I think they would have been better of installing water coolers into every camp.
Lol
Some love it, some hate it, and some will make due with it until the game they're really looking forward to comes out. I don't see any overwhelming sway one way or the other about this game except for how polished it is compared to other games as of late.

The community makes the content you just need to look out side the themepark box... Let me explain...
Me and the guild decided to have a little fun so we went over to the defiant side to play around a bit.. The guild set up in the mountains in a nice little choke point with one way in one way out, i would run down to the wardstones on the defiant side and unleash a army of 20 guardian soldiers on ther quest hub.
After destroying there quest hub the defiant players figured out what i was doing and took off after me so i lured them to the choke point and we slaughtered all of them...
After about 2 hours of doing this the Defiants finally got like half the shard to help take us out, was an epic battle to say the least...
Just another day in the life of a Rift gamer.... Long story short go out and make your own content don't let the game tell you what to do.... Think out side the Box this isn't WoW....

This is one of the things that keeps me interested in rift even if it is "another thempark", and the one that kept me from enjoying Lotro.
It doesn't matter if a game it is the Holy Grial of mmorpgs, if there are no classes that fits my playstyle I can't keep playing. On the other side even the most generic of the games can keep me there for months if there is a single class which mechanincs I like, for example Vanguard's Disciple class. I kept playing that game from day one and for a long time just because I enjoyed playing my Disciple.
