First game ive had to contantly drink Red Bulls just to get me through a hour or two of gameing,
Few quests move on to new camp 50 ft away , few quests move on to another camp 50ft away , throw in a rift , rinse repeat.
I congratulate them on the polish but geesh this for 5yr olds, I have room for casual gaming but this aint a hold your hand MMO this is bang me in a nappy and drag me around by my umbilical cord .
So the lvl 1-8 tutorial wasn't exciting for you lol....
O bless your little chain steel socks trying to be clever, I been in last 3 betas highest few around 28 ish but to concur little with that intellectual wit that you have there , 1- 8 was about the same as 9-17 and 18 to 25.
But getting anyway from you if thats cool, post above that states its great for what it is I agree with but doesnt change anything as far as my opinion is concerned, sure game will do well but damn its small in everyway.
Maybe you need some friends to play with, go try and do the Ancient Wards stones you might have some fun...
As much as im dieing to face palm you I will give credit to your reply, I have no doubt on release this game will be even better with social interaction and communties and friendships building and may just may have had little change to my todays borefest...but alas I feel my friends would have been just as bored well 2 actually were and logged before me, but i agree with the social element has always been core to any MMO as far as im concerned specially back in EQ1 days, it enhances any experience if theres new eperiences to have that is, I guess this maybe a flaw.
The community makes the content you just need to look out side the themepark box... Let me explain...
Me and the guild decided to have a little fun so we went over to the defiant side to play around a bit.. The guild set up in the mountains in a nice little choke point with one way in one way out, i would run down to the wardstones on the defiant side and unleash a army of 20 guardian soldiers on ther quest hub.
After destroying there quest hub the defiant players figured out what i was doing and took off after me so i lured them to the choke point and we slaughtered all of them...
After about 2 hours of doing this the Defiants finally got like half the shard to help take us out, was an epic battle to say the least...
Just another day in the life of a Rift gamer.... Long story short go out and make your own content don't let the game tell you what to do.... Think out side the Box this isn't WoW....
You can do all of that exact same stuff in any MMO that allows PvP, which is nearly every MMO. And you guessed it, that includes WoW. WoW players have many fond memories of great world PvP moments in areas like Hillsbrad, all of the major cities, and outside of blackrock mountain.
"Make up your own stuff to do," isn't a strong defense of an otherwise average game experience, especially in this day and age. The original big MMO, Ultima Online, was the king of "go create your own adventure," which was fantastic...13 years ago. Today that kind of open world is a given. A massively multiplayer online role playing game that does not allow the "outside the themepark box" events that you say makes Rift fun would be a massive disappointment.
I agree blackU and also the post above me to but @ Black i'm sure it was fun Have been doing it for over 10yrs in far more challenging settings than Rift and sadly it only takes you so far before even that gets really old, you need just teeny little more in the package than self creativity to amuse one self before people start dropping like flies.

Au contraire, I think it's an good point to make. There are plenty of examples of bad experience. BlackUhuru only described an example of a good experience. And no it isn't really possible in most games. Even in WoW, while in Classic you had epic fights between Tarren Mills and Southshore, you don't really find such experience today in World PvP.

Yes i still have my UO account on catskills and Sonoma shards from 13 years ago lol, and are you trying to tell me WoW has an active World PvP enviroment?
If you like WoW then by all means keep playing but for some of us who have never been able to stomach WoW's childish nature find Rift refreashing and entertaining.
After people see the rest of the content in Rift they will start to understand what this game is about, as of right now unless your in Alpha you have been given just a little taste of the mechanics and systems in Rift so i don't blame people for having reservations...

so i ask ..why all the hype in the first place..was it just all the wow lovers wanting a simalar game?
If you notice alot of threads saying rift is amazing and the second coming are from people with low post counts. Obvious paid shills sent via Trion to target specific gaming boards like this. Then when people actually played the game, unbiased player reviews started filtering in.
I bet Trion would have made more money if they didnt have an actual beta.
lol, and those with low post counts might be only readers and post once a while, why do you say that they are paid just cus of a post count...look their join date before you say that...even people with 2005 account with 11 posts. -_-
