    It was okay.

I didn't really play it much to be honest. When i did I mostly just tinkered around with warfronts.

    1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.

    2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.

    3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose.

I gave myself a weekend of relaxing this weekend so played Rift alot. Got my toon to lvl 35, loving my Necro/Lock/Chloro build, effective soloer, good dps and additional heals in groups, gonna go further in to chloro with him next beta so I can big up my support in groups, my damage output is pretty good right now so I'm happy with that, just gotta watch my pet taking the aggro off the tank (he's a damn fine tanking pet, his taunt keeps the aggro off me all the time).

Loved the increase in mob difficulty.

I got through all the quest content, got my runecrafting to grandmaster, butchering and outfitting on master, had a couple of nice runs through King's Breach, explored a lot on to the enemy side, found a few 'hidden' treasures and puzzles and of course several rifts and invasions. Good fun :)

I only got the chance to play about an hour and a half last night. It was still fun...granted I'm only 18th level. I've done rift after rift after rift and I tell you.....I still had a blast every time. I know they seem repetitive to some (many?..idk) but I imagine the Templars during the Crusades experienced a lot of repetition too. I just pre-ordered a few minutes ago. Tired of my three F2P games (DDO..LOTRO...CO)  and P2P (AoC..FE..WOW). Can't get into Cataclysm after the Worgen starting area..which was pretty decent. ..otherwise a waste of $40.00 that could have gone toward something else..imo.

Same here. I did beta 1 and was sure I wouldnt buy this game. However after this weekend I had alot of fun in the BG's. And I hate BG's but these were alright. More than anything I was happy with the melee Rogue class I made. Have a class all my own that did alright in PVP made it so much more fun. In fact I didnt PVE pnce this weekend.

But, this time I said to hell with it and sat down and played...and played...and played some more.   Didn't get to high in level, I spent a lot of time playing with options, but now my tune has changed.

This game is great, it truly is.

Unfortunately I think a lot of people will do what I nearly did and dismiss it completely after their first log in.  If not though, well then I think we finally have a real contender in the market for the first time since '04.

This is exactly how I felt, from word to word. I'm glad I stayed for a moment and decided to actually try the game. Toss a side all the "omg it's wow 2.0"-talk and you'll see it's actually a very nice game. And once the game launches and the wowtards get's back into their game, even the IQ of the /4 chat get's back into bearable levels. :)

I played a Rogue exclusively and agree. It's fast paced and I really like how the stealth is implemented.  Plus when I logged on last night I noticed I gained a little ability to shift to some kind of stealthed fox for 30 seconds which was kinda cool...and useful in a pinch.

I grabbed a beta key a few betas ago as a lark. I really didn't plan on liking the game. I really don't like WoW, War or AoC so i figured this would go about as well.

I've preordered with a 6 month founder sub. It's not exactly what I like but it is quite entertaining. It doesn't have the bad WoW graphics, the zones are a bit bigger than War and AoC and it's polished.

The real selling point to me was the soul/role feature.

Short posts bring down your rating. Long posts up it. Dunno if they have a character coutner or what. And your rating didn't go down. You are now a spotlight poster. I believe that's 1 up over elite.

I didn't touch my lvl 20 Cleric once this weekend. Instead, I played around with some other soul combos and came out very impressed with the Sabo/Riftstalker combo. I used a Ranger soul for my third because I wanted a pet for distraction purposes but I think I'll swap that out for a marksman soul.

The Sabo is damn good in pvp with the slow and aoe bombs. Ain't nothing like slowing a warrior in hot pursuit only to slow him and turn the tables! Shadow shifting through your allies makes a fantastic way of losing agro in pvp.

I actually pvp'd for the first time in beta 5 and quickly fell in love and that's saying something since I don't consider myself a pvp'er. I must add that I love the way you can join a public group when entering a rift area or invasion and the group stays together and goes from one rift/invasion to another! In a blink of an eye you just went through 6,7 or 8 rift/invasions and leveled 2 or 3 times to boot! Yes, 5 more points i can spend!

I have to say if anyone actually gives this game a try and plays beyond the noob area, I can't imagine how you can't have fun if MMO's are your choice of entertainment. This game did not give us anything new to the market however it did give us some of everything possible from a non-sandbox mmo.

Greetings fellow Rifters :)  I just wanted to throw in my two cents on the Game. I had a blast playing in beta this weekend , the soul tree's are great .. i kept rerolling toons to try different  combo's and still haven't decided what i liked most , they where all fun ..lol.  The Rifts are a lot of fun and a great concept, nice to have something unexpected like that happen. I was a long time DaoC player, and i had kinda the same feeling i got back then when  it was new. Great community and good players, i'm definately pre ordering this game and can't wait for the open beta.  I didn't get to try any PvP aspects of the game, but with all the different soul combinations it looks like it could be really cool.

I've been getting in trouble lately on this forum.

When i was championing Sandbox games and defending EvE i didnt have a problem.

I hardly got any warnings and most people didnt give me shit.

Since i've backed two themeparks in a row (Lotro, Rift) I'v ebeen turned on.

The 4-5 messages a week i've gotten from people asking me what alliance im in, or for advice on what obscure sandbox games to play are the same people bashing me now that i'm enjoying Rift.

    I've become defensive.

It would be easy, to jump on the WoW hate bandwagon. Its always easy to preach to the choir. But I wont, because this game is good. Yeah its like WoW, Yeah it has similarities of WAR, But god damn it. its fun as all hell and I just gotta let people know... even if i get flamed for it.

Anyway, Thanks for your kind words.

Might be it. I've been cautioned a few times for responding to trolls.

Or it could be that a wizard decides how many stars you get.

I had a pretty good time this weekend. Finally got my Dorf cleric high enough to run the first Guardian dungeon, Realm of the Fae. Had a pretty rough time healing as a Warden primary and sent some feedback about it. Just hope they scale up nicely in later levels as Sentinel/Purifier healing (aka 3-sec cast spamfest) is pretty boring.

Also ended up playing a warrior for a bit, though I missed my healing whenever I tanked rift mobs without healers. Was trying a Warlord/Beastmaster combo but might try putting points in Reaver or Paladin during the upcoming OB.

What's everyone's experience been with invasions? I've gotten a lot of failures this weekend from folks ignoring the wardstone defense part. Not sure if that's because of the 'close a rift for an entry' video card sweepstakes or not.

Nice world pvp video thanks for sharing it. Also have a pvp video for you to check out.

I had a fantastic time in beta 6 with my dorf tank. Got to do the Fae dungeon, exploring on my 4WD turtle lol, loads of Rifts. I didn't do one damn "normal" quest. Now I'm just yearning towards the head start when I can start my "real" character.

I may spend beta 7 trying to find the Rift-equivalent to LOTRO's loremaster. If anyone has any tips there, let me know!

At the risk of getting dinged again myself, lol, ahem - you guys need to be careful in discussing moderator actions - since they will ding you for that.  Also, be careful about pointing out that somebody is a troll - because it is not our job to do that in public - just via the reporting mechanism - they will ding you for that as well.

As an aside though, yeah - it can be rough on the stars when dealing with the RIFT haters out there.

Personally, I'm still trying to decide between ordering the BCE from Trion or Gamestop - trying to decide on that enchantment.  Neither the Amazon nor Best Buy one appealed to me.  Stuck on the two I am because I keep bouncing back and forth between Lock-Necro-X and Storm-Dom-X.

I miss the MMORPG genre. Will a developer ever make one again?

You also have a special rank too. Usually 4-5 stars are 'Elite Members'. I notice Rockgod99 has 'Spotlight Poster', probably because some of his threads were marked as being fun and interesting discussion.

    But from the FAQs:

Ranks are calculated every day at 2:00AM EST.  They are only based on the last 30 days of data.  We look at the following factors when determining your rank:

    • How many days you visited the site (and logged in).  This is also counted when you use our "autologin" feature.

    • How much information you have posted in our forums (not the amount of posts)

    • The quality of your posts.  If you post lot of "filler" posts that only consist of a few words this will cost you rank points.

    • Any posts of yours that had to be deleted will cost you 5 rank points (there are only 100 total).  To prevent your posts from being deleted, please obey our Rules of Conduct.

While looking at mine, I lost 5 points after I called out a poster on the quality of his argument. I was probably too blunt image

I tried Warden as main soul and was pretty effective and fun.

I have to admit the first time I tried it, It didn't work at all, the tank died very fast at first mini-boss and I was very worried because I love that build.

I didn't give up and we replaced the tank and all changed. It was all good. The tank can make a huge difference. I cannot say If the first tank had a fail build but he was poorly geared. The second tank had some blues in his gear and knew what he was doing. I had no problems at all healing IT even with some bad pulls. I was very happy.

Good fire damage with Pyro soul. Elemental provides a pet and air damage. Warlock allows you to stun (cc) and feed power to your allies.

Thanks for the tip Johnny. Not enough CC there to satisfy me but I reckon Elemental and Warlock are a start. Maybe the third should be Dominator. The one that can turn mobs into squirrels for 30 secs. :)

Now I really want to play Rift.
