Maybe Warlock/Dom/something? I tend to throw warlock into my mage builds just for the lifetap- hate being OOM.

I tried Necro/Warlock/Dom and I had absolutely no downtime. Soul Purge to heal myself and my pet, Sacrifice Life: Mana to life tap, Reclaim Power to life tap my pet, Reconstruct for a quick heal at the end of a combat. My pet can tank reasonable pulls and I have a CC.

Apart from the combination sounding horribly evil, I'm definitely going to try it when the headstart period begins. Thanks for the help guys. :)

That is the perfect solo pve build, i been using it since beta 5 and had no troubles at all. In fact others from our guild started using that build too cause, i never died doing pve and usually had top 1-3 in dmg. One thing i have noticed is my level 19 ranger that does mainly pvp is better equipped than my level 34 necro that does mainly pve. Has changed my thoughts on how i may approach the game at headstart.

This discussion makes me really appreciate that you can switch between up to 4 builds, which is still only 4 of a possible 56 combinations of 3 souls from 8. I was actually looking for a good CC combination for grouping in the Dungeons, not a PvE solo build.

I just wanted to agree that it is a most welcome break to see a positive post on these forums.

People seem to post on game forums for one of two reasons; Either to defend a game they find fun or to flame/bash those who are having fun with a game (often shortened to 'fanbois' and 'Haters').

Currently it is ALOT easier to flame a game and state that it is going to fall flat on its ass.  Why? Because most MMOs of late have done EXACTLY that.  People attempt to show their contempt for a game and state it will fail often to get some form of imaginery 'brownie points' and achieve that 'told you so' moment.

It takes real 'balls' to stick your neck out and state that you hope that a game does well and that you like it; allowing yourself to become branded with derogatory terms and flamed.

To those that would like to slate a game before they've experienced all it has to offer... why?  I think many here know the odds on an MMO flopping... they know it might not be ground breaking and they know that it is bound to have issues.  The thing this boils down to is 'are you prepared to take a chance on a game you enjoy and potentially get 'burned' in the process?'.  We are hardly fostering the right atmosphere by slating a game before it even sets out from the 'blocks' - recently the amount of hatred levelled at ToR is an example of this.

Rift is a game which I am currently really enjoying.  I approached it with immense amounts of cynacism and doubt, but it was a pretty decent game; one which I am going to 'take a chance' on.  Though it is an MMO-by-numbers in many respects I had a good time with it and have really enjoyed the betas; what else do I need from an MMO?

Having rolled on a RP-PVP server during beta I found a couple of really great players who are taking similar chances and pre-ordered the game.  My whole attitude with this game is that we shall see where it goes - it might be a spectacular flop or it may achieve the coverted MMORPG MMO of the year award - time will tell.
