cmon guys seriously is this game even considered to be one of the best mmos for this year , cmon ppl who tried and played the beta!!!
whats the good thing about it tell me ! explain it for me i can't feel anything good from the game i tried it , it sucks too much
it just a copy from lots of games nothing special just the soul system which again the game should be fully developed again from zero
strange it has such high hype from ppl , soon enough u will know what am talking about for those ppl who is happy about the game when it comes out they will play it probably for little time and most of them they will quit it for sure.
1. Too many abilities. My god I have (2) hands, (4) fingers on each. I don't care how ambidextrous you may be or what your game rig set up is. There is a realistic amount of buttons you can map things to. At least the way it is now, you get 3 main trees almost from the get go. Each with its own abilities, you level up get more points, WoW-like nothing new here, except the sheer quantity of abilites is rediculous. Often there are 3 at least that are so similar you just pick the one which you think has the coolest name. You can say that part of the skill of the game is picking a certain amount of skills from a pool and for better or worse, thats what you have. But dang you dont need 15 abilities per tree. (I didn't actualy count them it may be more even) They need to knock it down to like 5 or 6 so you can have 12 (one row of hotkeys) out of 15/18. Asking someone to map more than 12 abilities for quick responce is just stupid. Just give me 12 good skills scale them with gear and level, and let it be. No need to re-engineer human evolution to give us 6 arms so we can play this game decently.
My God! When we finally have something that isn't dumbed down, something that offers a lot of skills for various situation, you try to spoil it!
Solution for your problem: Get a decent keyboard like Merch Stealth, and for mouse go Razer Naga. Your issues have been solved, now play like a Boss.

I do not like the fact only a very selected few ( friends and family of the mmo owners ) have had access to end game to bug shoot. And 4 times in a row during beta 5, and 6 atleast I had Latency issues ( from the US ) in the main towns or near massive envasions. SO the no lag = crock of garbage.
The game lacks end-game content, Char detail is sub-par at best......Quest system is boring...Weapon/armor system is pretty basic no real set bonus or similar to push you to get them. Just basic oh a purple.....or a blue time to time off the Lair type things.
Prepare for insane amounts of CC ( crowd control ) in warfronts and open world pvp. It's pretty annoying with no immunity timer means you can be 24/7 stunned or "squirreled" ( btw was suppose to break with damage but I experenced otherwise )
Lvl 1-9 is very boring as must said
Lvl 10-19 Decent pvp combat if you are on the higher end Not a pile of CC in these lvl's but still alot.
Lvl 20-29 Pretty basic
Lvl 30-35 FFS the CC was so annoying in warfronts........Experenced pre-mades will wreck face period.
Lots of AFK leachers tipical of ny mmo, Prepare to be Bot farmed like Aion was on launch. They did little to counter this yet and doubt they even considered the problem it WILL be.
Mid game dungeons IT, DS, KB are pretty basic and work ok just boring. Many lack the tipical tank or Healer as per most mmo's so find a group of friends and stick with them!.
Overall I score this game 4.5 and predict lots of rage in the coming months, Emo rage me all you want.....I simply speak the truth. Sorry if this seems like a flame but its true of MY experiences in rift since beta 1-6.
SHOW/BETA END-GAME CONTENT OR BUST BUST
but i bet your still going to play it when it comes out no?? hehe
you prolly already pre-ordered too (altough i doubt you'll admit it )
The random latency spikes were kind of twisted. One of the things that I enjoyed about RIFT was that my lat was around 70-80 (while it is normally 250-300 in WoW). Yet in WoW with a lagspike, where it could go 1500-2000 or so - within a few moments, the game was playable again at the high latency. In RIFT, out of nowhere my lat would go from that 70-80 up to 4000-6000 or even 8-10k. Outside of autoswings and getting killed by whatever was beating on you, nothing was going on...was painful and frustrating.
I miss the MMORPG genre. Will a developer ever make one again?
Are these like rvr lakes in warhammer (maybe port scion) or are these just the way they have decided to say, " there will be 3 new pve/quest zones to explore that are contested" ?

I have mixed feelings about all the abilities. I don't find it to be a problem, since there's so much redundancy, it's mostly a matter of picking your favorites to put on the hotbar, and ignoring the rest - but I do wish they'd make the soul trees more distinct from one another, and less about DD skills that just come in different colors. Almost felt like once I got the hang of cutting out all the skills I didn't need, I was left with the realization that we really just had a game of only four classes. For example, I don't know how different two warriors will really be, once people learn to make the most of all that redundancy.
When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.

It's completely possible to handle all the abilities:
1) Remap your movement keys. If you use R, D, F, G instead of W, A, S, D you can reach huge amount of buttons with one hand (T, Y, H, B, N, U, J, M, 3, 4, 5, 6, W, E, A, S, <, Z and X)
2) Take some good gaming mouse with remappable buttons. Remap your mouse buttons to function as shift, ctrl, and alt
3) Bind all the hotkeys to include a combination of shift, ctrl or alt (used with mouse) + some keypress
You can easily get about 70 abilities for quick response, if you just can remember what button did what. You'll have to learn, it takes skill.
But as other posters have already said, most of the abilities aren't needed because different sould give you different copies of ability for same purpose.
If any of you are thinking of trying it out I would say go for it. Its been a while since I fell in love with a game like this. After the beta event was over, I felt like I lost my best friend lol.
Like others stated.. Get through the beggining area and you are gonna love it. Then after you get through the next part you will love it even more . Its amazing to see everyone coming together to seal those rifts. Def. and exciting game !!!!

That's a great idea. I think I'll use the E,S,D,F instead, because I've got one of those natural keybards and I can blind-type.
Besides, I can't keep my fingers away from the ctrl, alt and shift keys before the angles become awkward and hard to use.
Actually I've played both sides and there is nothing that is the same about them .. other then the tutorial / starting quest zone. Doesn't sound like you got very far or even gave this game much of a chance if you didnt even get out of the tutorial and into the real game.
Sorry Rift, but on the 15th I will be on Fippy Darkpaw.
All I can say is, Grr. Bark Bark. Grr
What's going on with EQ on the 15th, anyway?
New server called Fippy. Its a progression server and i believe it is starting the game at day 1 again. I.e. no expansions and so on with everyone having new characters. Expansion content is added once the current content is beaten. Or something like once the content for the current expansion/game is beaten there is a 60 day countdown until the next content is unlocked.
I think that's about right, i don't play EQ but have read about it.

So I had to either take up the viola or become a vampire; and they were fresh out of violas.
