EQ free account reactivation
Some people today noticed their old EQ accounts got reactivated, and it's good until 2/21. Nobody knows who all got reactivated since there was no announcement or emails. So check your account through soe.com, who knows, it may be reactivated

when I looked yesterday,
all 3 of my accounts were still closed
but today im showing 2 weeks of time until 02/21

I checked again today and mine has been opened until the 21st.
trying to get us hooked again in time for the new progression server. Too bad I lost all interest in that server when it was announced it'll be raid unlocked again. Was looking forward to a non-shitfest race server /shrug
By progression server do they mean it will release the original EQ with no expansions and then add the expansions at the same rate they were originally added?
That's true, but on top of that there's a grace period (for the 1st expansion 3 months) in which no expansion will be unlocked, and after the grace period the server population gets to vote whether to step forward with the next expansion or stay where the server is at, until the next voting.

Checked. It's open until the 21st.
On top of that there is like 5 bosses that have to be put down by the time the grace period is up. They cut back exp gain so it will take a lot longer to level up. Most likey at the earliest we will see Kunark is 4 to 5 months after the server launches. After that there is a 2 month grace period for each expansion and same rules apply certain bosses have to be put down before you can even vote to open up the next expansion.
Another key is you have only one vote per account and you have to be on Fippy. They also will be putting a level requirement of like level 20 so you can't just make a new character on the server and vote.

Holy Moly! Mine is active till 21st too. Yippee!! Okay when did they switch this on I know I know I am so totally stupid but I like to torture myself by finding out how many days I missed.I am sick that way.
Mine is active now as well. I never got past the tutorial levels myself, only tried about a year or so ago, but with the progression server coming I'm glad they reactivated my account so I can see, in a way, what it was like at launch with PEOPLE actually playing at low levels.
Now the hard part. What class should I roll? Here are my favs from other games if that helps:
EQ2 - Fury
Vanguard - Druid/Psionicist/Sorcerer
WoW - Mage/Warlock/Hunter
Lotro - Hunter/Minstrel/Loremaster
Yeah, I like ranged dps alot, but, I have had some tanks and healers as mains, just didn't play them as long as my DPS classes.
OH, and I love to solo, although that won't be too much of an issue if enough people start fresh on the progession server but any advice toward a class than can solo well would be great.
Shaman or Druid seems to be what you might like. Ranger too I think. Shadowknight was hard those days the hell levels and all.

Elocke, if you like solo and ranged dps. I would suggest Magician or necro (both has pets) or a druid or wizard (non pet)
Kinda hard to do a full write out on the classes, but mage will be the easiest startup soloer, druid and wizard has teleports both pretty viable in solo, druid is more of a kiter (snare, dot, sit and watch rot) and wizard is a root and nuke. Druid comes with tons of buffs/heals etc, a very useful class all around but there will be alot of them.
Really tho each class plays kinda diffrently, moreso then past games. I enjoy the necro the most in eq as I can kite around 4-5 mobs at a time(late game).
Necro reverse kiting fear and dot and pet wails on the mob.
