Hey,
I just wanted to remind you all of what has happend, a tsunami has killed 67,000 and i wanted to encourage you all to donate and spare cash you can! the following four sites are places you can donate and if you do not trust me visit yahoo for the four links again.

68k this morning, already over 76k reported this afternoon. i would not be suprised if the final death toll goes over 200k (from disease as well as the initial tsunami). Not much that words can do express my sympathy and condolences. truly staggering and likely to become one of the worlds greatest disasters.

Heard about that... scary stuff, seems almost otherworldly. I remember watching a show on discovery about this possibly happening to us, if rocks were to slide from these islands off the coast of Africa, apparently, it would somehow cause a tsunami 15 miles inland on the east coast. Don't know how true it is but... scary.

I am disgusted with Americas pitiful donation. $35m, that is nothing for the country with the economic power of America. England have donated $29, and that is not enough. But we are a small country, with a population of 60million. We should all give more. Remeber all the support the world offered America on 9/11? Somehow i think Bush will not recipricate in the same fashon.

Hah america is the most generous country on the planet so shut up with your bashing. We shouldnt give anything to be honest. These are mainly nations that bash us and hey they wont even accept aid workers from israel. Sounds to me like they dont really want help.
Why help countries that hate us? It's beyond reason when most of the people in those countries would gladly kill an american in the name of allah.
Those numbers dont include the private american charities that are helping so you better reconsider what you say before you bash us. I for one am sick of my country being the worlds police force, bank and prime target for bashing. If you dont like us dont expect us to care if you die.
Oh and i'm wondering .. how much did you donate to hurricane victims that are still homeless in florida from this years horrid hurricane season?

True, we are generous, but no-one said that was a bad thing. Though it would be a good idea to shift mroe effort into rebuilding america. But thats my opinion.

Why is America the "bad guy" because we only donated 35m? EVERYTIME there is an earthquake, or terrible destruction in another country, who sends relife aid? We do. Dont blather out that nonsense. We should stop helping everyone from now on. See how they cope then.
I feel for those who died and are suffering, but ungrateful people like you make me not seem to care as much.
Last time I checked the point of government wasn't to take money from its citizens and give handouts to other countries.

If we were to pour money into Indonesia right now it would be masterful foreign policy. The country has one of the largest populations of moderate Muslims, and they are who we want on our side right now.

Man, I have really had it with everyone picking on the US or especially lashing out at Americans over this terrible tragedy, but I refuse to resort by lashing out or refusing to help. When the UN Rep made his comment, he did not single out the US, but all "rich" nations which include not only the US but the UK, many European nations, China, Japan and several other nations. What his comment was based on is the percentage of money donated to GNP or per capita provided by the governments of these nations. However, more than just money is needed to the people and countries affected by this terrible disaster. Man power in the form of volunteers such as health care professionals to provide medical aid, engineers and carpenters to help rebuild, and just many, many voluteers helping to clean up and provide comfort for those that lost so much so quickly.
Do I think the US should've donated more intially? Yes
Will the US donate more? Yes
Should the President have made a public appearance on this horrible tragedy sooner? Yes
As a US citizen, I will say this. My fellow Americans are some of the most generous people in the world with their wealth when it comes to private donations of money, food, and hands on volunteer work. A lot of people around the world are pointing there fingers at Americans and excusing us of being basically uncaring and stingy because we weren't right there in India, Indonesia, Thailand and the many other places affected by the earthquake and the tsunamies. This is one of the largest natural disasters, if not disasters in recent history, and it is have way across the world from us and many of the European nations in very remote areas and hard to reach areas. Infrastructure and communication has been knocked out in many areas, and just the sheer scope and tragedy of the event is unphantomable. It is going to take time, which is trully horrific, for aid to reach many people just because of the scope of the destruction over such a large area. A couple of friends of mine in the medical field, one a pediatrician and one a nurse left on planes to help with medical aid within 24 hours of the tragedy. I have a vetinary friend who left as well to help, and the company I work for began to set up a system to collect aid in the form of donations and volunteers willing to go over to help within 24 hours of the incident as well. There are many other stories like this here in the US, and not only in the US, but the UK, Australia, and many other nations.
I urge everyone to speak up to their respective governments to pressure them to help out as much as possible, and to my fellow US citizens to not get upset because there are those that are accusing us of being cold hearted and stingy. Even if help is not appreciated, it should be given just the same. No one should have to suffer through such tragedies alone. I remember going through the hurricanes and tropical storms during late August and through September and how I felt so helpless, angry and frustrated. The people of India, Indonesia, Thailand and all others affected by this disaster feel if not the same way even more so.
Yes the mortality rate is now already near 80,000 people and more are coming because of disease and epidemics (or how you write it) that are going to spread because everything is rotting, dead fish and animals and people.
I find it ridiculous to single out America (yes they are the largest, but what does that matter?) Don't compare with what some country's are giving, just donate. All the world got to 100 million dollar in the beginning in donations (probably more now, at least i hope), that's not even enough to make a freaking hollywood movie these days (or at least a blockbuster). These things make me kind of mad, I don't say you got to donate whatever you can, just something and doesn't have to be much (5 dollars is enough), if a lot of people give a few dollars/euros/..., that would give large amounts of cash to help these people.
My own governement gave 3 million euros i think but that will go up. We are the second smallest country in europe. But what kind of cash is this, 3 million?
And too those that say they shouldn't give anything because they all hate americans, that's scandalous, because a few people have been seen on the media who say they hate US, you don't wanna help the entire population? Then there is something wrong with you or you are a boy that doesn't yet know what is good and wrong and doesn't think for himself. In america there are people that hate their own country and if something happened in that region where one of such people lived you are going to denie help to that entire region and let them all die and get angry? Hurricanes in America are a known fact and people get warned in time before they arrive (most of the time) Here no one said anything people were still playing on the beach and surfing.

Right we should help people who have refused help? How does this make sense? Malaysia and indonesia have refused to allow israeli aid workers into their country. They hate us just as bad but hey since we've got more aid to give its ok america hop on over and help us? Forget the fact that after 9/11 our countries leaders came out and said you got what you deserved. Forget that our country is one of the largest supporters of muslim extremists. I'm sorry but saying we should offer these countries more aid to buy them off is ludacris. Maybe this is Allah's way of saying they're wrong? I actually do sympathize with the people over there but you know what? Don't bite the hand that helps you and maybe next time you'll get help. Hate the USA if you must. It's not like it bothers us while we sit in our tempature controlled homes watching our sattelite tv playing our video games. We arent here to support your country or make you feel all warm inside. Yes you are right those 90,000 people (already now) diserved to die because they are muslims and hate america, if you look something up you will see that there are more then 2 countries hit by this "natural disaster" (but it was allah's will so nothing wrong there, so every american that die by a tornado or something else is because god wanted that because they were wrong.) In indonesia is a lot of muslims and extremists too but there are more then just muslims, they have christians too and hindoes and buddists (or however you write that).

Yes theres more than 2 countries and yes we are helping. We're even helping the ones that hate us because thats the kind of people we are. What is your country doing to help iraq? Do you have troops there to stop terrorists from screwing up a democratic process? I dont recall indonesian troops going into fallujah to root out terrorists. I do however recall the indonesian government bashing america a week after 9/11. You euro's may choose to over look this and vacation there and give these people your money. Copeland, dude, you need to take a deep breath and stay off the caffiene. You must not have read this thread. Coraith was the only one that made a critical post here, to my knowledge, of the US. Yes, there are others in other forums and other media critizing, but you shouldn't group other countries and peoples into generalizations. An estimated 21% of the worlds population of 6,483,486,000 are Muslims. That means that around 1,361,532,060 are followers of Islam. A very small percentage of those Muslims make up violent facist and terrorist groups. I would also not condemn a people due to the actions of their governments in countries like Indonesia and Malaysha. Another thing, when you say "euros" there are many European countries that do support the US, France doesn't make up all of Europe. The majority of the world does not hate the US no matter how the media spends it.
You are entitled to your opinion, but I find in reading your post here to be very young or very immature or both. Maybe in time you will grow to find compassion for those that are less fortunate or have been through tragedy, and/or maybe you will become more educated on world politics and cultures.
