Guardian, because my wife said so! She was tired of, to quote her, 'tribal crap' and wanted to play on the 'good' side. I know, but FOR THE HORD err GUARDIANS!
I had heard there were more folks playing Defiant and that Queue times for the Guardians on their PVP warfronts were faster.
Was thinking of going Guardian for that fact, but the whole Steam Punky ness of the Defiant seems really fun, I'm not sure really...
Been horde myself for a few years now, not even really sure which side is suposed to be the "bad guys" this time around, I mean the Guardians sound like Pious jerks and the Defiant sound like they were easily conned into being the fools of the story.
Defiant, would have been guardian as I normally roll Dwarves in fantasy themed MMO's but I'm not too fond of the Dwarf character models this time around.
I'm going to play Defiant. I like both the Bahmi and the Kelari more than their Guardian counterparts, I prefer the Defiant theme, and I also like most of the Defiant areas better (with Stonefield being the exception, mainly due to performance issues). Also, I really like the look of the clockwork horses Defiant races eventually get access to.
Defiant - I like the female races better on that side (well except the Bahmi).

It can be fixed by carefully moulding the face, but I'm also not keen on their hairstyles. I'm afraid I'm shallow too, but it seems that luckily our tastes vary. Otherwise there would be some poor girls out there with guinea pig mouths that never got any attention.

Okay, yes... but let me try to explain.
It's like the mouth should be open, it shows the bottom teeth and a slice of the top teeth but then there is this untextured piece of lip that is hiding the top of the upper teeth and it looks absolutely bizarre. Unfortunately when I tried to screenshot it, it gave me a black picture.
But seriously, next time you're in game, look at their mouths. I swear I am not insane. At least not that insane.

Guardians being the good guys is a common misconception, there is no good or bad just different ideologies.
guardians are religious & believe the gods will save them & believe the defiants are heretics.
Defiants put there faith in their technology & science & having an open mind towards that sort of thing.
Im rolling Defiant because I dont like the whole guardian holier than thou vibe I get from them, & I would always put my money on science any day (dont wana have a science vs religion discussion, would rather poke my eyes out with blunt pencil, just saying is all).

Defiant, because of the pacing of the zones. It is not that I am rushing or anything, but the Guardian pacing just felt so slow.

I enjoyed the Guardian side a lot more. Just seemed a lot nicer and story was easier to follow.
