Defiant - I like the female races better on that side (well except the Bahmi).
I was going to go Guardian at first, but I think the female elves are hideous and the female humans have some weird crap going on with their upper lip (it like... covers their teeth). You may say that I am shallow, but I like my characters to look good and that bothered the hell out of me.
Sorry for the picture spamming, but I've found that it -is- possible to make the Bahmi females look pretty decent - It takes a lot of tweaking though. But, I came up with this during the last beta:
I went through pretty much all the races with the character creator, for both genders, and generated appearances that I liked - And then screenshotted it with the settings, so I could recreate them for live. The above is a cropped version of one of those screenshots.
She is pretty decent looking, reminds me a lot of the orcs from lineage 2 (Which were hot from a pixel standpoint).
Faction population doesn't concern me. I pvp all the time in Eve and after playing a wonderful War type game like that, to go to a meaningless instanced pvp game wouldn't work. So I'm rolling a defiant on a heavily populated pve server. Since rift will be my second 10-15 hours a week) mmo. I want to focus on the games pve in contrast to Eves pvp. Also the Defiant race is all techy and I like that.

Agreed! Lineage II's Orcs were appealing...
I found the Defiant side to be more appealing but perhaps eventually I will roll a Guardian.
I like Defiant but I am worried about the population imbalance. Does anyone think that this will legitimately hurt this solid game?
