I think players are immune for the first 30minutes to votekick(in wow).
Again..No mention of fact that it will be cross-server...NO mention of fact that it will instant teleport you
So again where is the WoW LFD the same as an unknown LFD? I really dont understand why people are thinking this.
The reason why is because the moron that made the article completely made shit up. One girl was nice enough to actually listen and write it all down and the two do not match up. Zam just made some stuff up for god knows what reason.
During a brief stint in WoW I can say that this feature sucks big time if implemented cross-server. The horrible behaviour in the WoW Dungeon Finder is rediculous. The WoW kiddies will run rampant and ruin the reputation of the game.
WoW LFG -tool was good. Only within a server, no instant teleport.
WoW LFD -tool is one of the worst things ever designed. I'm really sad Trion even consider to implement it to their game.
I could not agree more. I like not haven to worry if someone DCs or has to leave because they will be replaced rather quickly. I wont have to start the process of putting group back together all over again just to have it happen again and again. Yes please keep stealing i dont care who from aslong as it enhances the game. Like he said if ya dont like it dont use it. You can still spam chat all u want to put a group together. You and all the people that dont like this feature can still do it the old way and be as social as u wanna be. Its not gonna remove you or them. I look forward to more and more features. Who cares where from. Everything comes from somewhere.
This puts you in the category that the LFD tool doesn't affect those that don't like it. It most certainly does. As a previous poster showed. This tool will take too many peeps away from the general population that could otherwise have ran with like peeps on the same server.
sounds like there wasn't as many "like peeps" as you want to think there are.
My Thoughts on Content Locust
They are still there. They just dont wanna play with you or him whoever. If anything thing this shows there are plenty of people that dont want it so they can all be social together. Why force your way on the people that want a finder? Plus there is always guild groups. Im not really seein how this is taking away from anything. Play your way and let others play theirs.
Do any of you people realize that the dungeon finder is NOT MANDATORY. Neither are dps meters.
If you dont wanna play it, piss off and stop ruining a potentialy great game for everyone else by slanderizing it before it's even released. G F'ing G.
While I understand what you are trying to say, go log into WoW and see just how possible it is with the LFD in place to find a group the old fashioned way and then tell me that hasn't affected anything. Not possible. Before the LFD tool, it wasn't hard at all to find groups on your own server. This assumes you even played before that tool became active and were on an active server.
If it wasn't hard at all, there would have been no need to put in the LFD tool.
Devs do not waste time adding features that are not wanted/needed.
You're in the minority, and you are wrong. Get over it.
Well this just makes my decision of not playing this crap even better. Anti social new to MMO people nowadays. Back in the day it was so much better. I know you don thave to use it, but it still makes for a anti social community. The days of working for your stuff in game is over.
I hope they decide not to go the route of a dungeon finder. In WoW, when they put it it in I loved it. Then I started to notice something...I missed allot of the content outside dungeons because I spent most of the time in dungeons leveling thanks to the conveinence on the finder. I remember one time I used it and it transported inside a 5-man IC dungeon, right smack in the middle because someone had left the group. Needless to say it was my first time in, the group wiped right as I entered, and because I never adventured that far into the zone I had a hell of a time finding the dungeon entrance so that I could rez. I finally gave up and waited for the priest to get back in there and locate my corpse to rez me.
However, I think there is a solution to the adventuring part. If we must have a dungeon finder, that dungeon can only be activated using the dungeon finder if you have visited the dundeon entrance at least once. This would eliminate any content somewhat being missed. At least you have seen the zone on the way there and know where the entrance is at.
I hopr TOR doesn't copy this feature also.
Ive played WoW since about a month after launch. Ive been there for all the changes good and bad. To me this was one of the good ones. Finding a group that would almost always get u through the dungeon was a lot harder before the finder than you are maken it out to be. Most of the time the pug just fell apart and that was that. I just relied on my guild. Which suprise you still can. Ive been in game recently. Ive seen people forming groups to you guessed it use the dungeon finder so they didnt have to deal with others from other servers. Its rare but it happens. Plus there is tons of pugs for raiding. Dont get much more social than that. I still dont see where the whole social arguement is valid.
This whole conversation is getting weird ... Just plain weird
There's nothing wrong with a dungeon finder. Some of us don't feel like spooning with the other group members after a pug run.
I guess everyone is going to ignore the fact that the OP and the original article took quotes out of context and tried to play it off as factual information.
Rift is not implementing WoW's dungeon finder.
.. But in a good way.
Game developers can't please everyone so they typically go for the majority. Well, the majority want this feature, so those who are in the minority are SOL.
I happen to like the feature so nya nya.
If none of my friends are on that day or my guildmates are doing something else I can just queue up for a dungeon. I don't see what the big deal is ? Are some pissed because they are copying WoW ? Well correct me if I am wrong, aren't Blizzard the ones who copied the entire mmo genre and put those features in WoW so people would come play WoW instead ? I don't see why Trion can't do the ssame thing to improve their game.
That honestly may have sealed the deal in the "Cancelling my RIFT Pre-order" checkbox. I absolutely hate Dungeon Finders.
Hm, can be good, or can be bad.
Good: it often is otherwise difficult to find a group. Makes it easier to just go on with some dungeon fun.
Bad: tends to bring out the asshole in some. When finding a group is so effortless and even cross-shard, you can be an ass and get away with it.

But hell, I'm not working for Blizzard, who is swimming in cash - so what does my opinion count for?
Except what other game users Dungeon Finders besides WoW? So one company does DF wrong, and people say all DF's are bad.
Look how many LFG's were added to games... How many work after the first month? Almost Zero...
LFG tools are like passive agressives... them seem ok, until they blow up in your face.
LFD tools have yet to be fully developed. The first one worked well, but people haven't adjusted to the concept yet.
Beats sitting at the zone line waiting on a group to form, running from the trains of the noobs who wander to far in. Sure you might meet an occasional cool person and make a friend... but the same can be said of LFD. I met some cool people in LFD, and ran a few groups with them.. and had a good time.
