My mom asked me waaaaaaaaaaay too many questions about EVE online last time i visited her........im scared :S
Playing: PO, EVE Waiting for: WoD Favourite MMOs: VG, EVE, FE and DDO Any person who expresses rage and loathing for an MMO is preposterous. He or she is like a person who has put on full armor and attacked a hot fudge sundae.
My mom and her sister are 64 and 68 respectively. They've been playing WoW for about three years and have become really, really good at it. They're even more hardcore than I am, and I'm 30 years younger than they are lol. Age doesn't really mean that much in online games I guess. There's no way they would ever play another game though, I've tried to get them in to Runes of Magic, Vanguard, Age of Conan and City of Heroes and the standard response has been "Why should I bother with that when there's WoW?"
The average game player is 34 years old and has been playing games for 12 years.
The average age of the most frequent game purchaser is 40 years old.
Which is from the preceeding link. You as a kid gamer are a minority. Someday you'll grow up and realize that kids don't hold the monopoly on entertainment and that the world doesn't revolve around you.
There's more of us "older" people than there are you kids playing, remember that next time you have age discrimination issues.
I wish my mom played video games, it would make her a lot nicer when me and my sis play games. She liked playing wii sports, and she showed lots of interest in playing CoD: Black Ops, way before I bought (I actually bought it because my mom thought it was cool)...I guess my mom is into competition and pvp, funny because I pretty much a Carebear
I'm amuzed that some of you might think you were the first to play a "computer game". My first game was Pong. We had a tabletop version of it in our Student Union at my first university. And while I didn't own a personal computer for years after that, I still spent far too much time at some of the Arcades. And when I finally did get a computer of my own the first thing I was interested in, past MS Word which I needed for more schooling, were some games.
My first real multiplayer game was Doom. A friend and I would connect via modem and play for hours at a time. And when I learned how to build computers and network, I always had my own little gaming LAN for friends to come over and play on. Which in turn led me to make friends with several younger people. One of whom introduced me to Ultima Online, and then Everquest.
So I've been playing MMORPGs for the last 12 years. I'm 54 and semi-retired (I still work if the job interests me - I'm a computer consultant). But the key is that I have all the time in the world. Plus things like TV just hold no interest for me. I don't enjoy going to bars and hanging out. But I have plenty of experience with playing MMORPGs.
My take is that any person of any age is capable of playing an MMORPG as long as they want to... It's all about attitude, period.

What you THINK is irrelevant, what i posted is fact, and it's not a big deal at all.

My mom was just starting to finally put effort into getting to know how to use a computer and stuff before she died.
