Just plain FUN.  Trion has also put the MULTIPLAYER back into MMORPG.  I don't think I grouped this much in any other MMORPG without having to wait untold minutes for people to get ready.  In Rift you just go with the flow and it rocks.

     I agree here.

The public grouping mechanic is pretty interesting. I've not done this much grouping in a very long time either. And the groups I was with last night, we were socializing and raising hell. The main thing is that it was FUN and I was highly entertained.

I'd like to let you know that the number of rifts are proportional with the number of players in the zone. So if the 40-50 zones have as many players as in the screenshots, then there would be just as many invasions. Also the number of people who rush to 42 in beta is actually pretty low.

All I meant is people like to cite similar ss's as WOW LOOK AT THE ACTIVITY IN THIS GAME. As you progress in levels that drops significantly and those beginning zones should be dead again in a month or 3 with the level 50 zones maybe being that populated, and then it remains to be seen if that will taper off and people will camp cities when not doing instances or raiding rifts.

I'm also pretty surprised that in the open beta, with two previous betas to level up, there wouldn't be more people at cap.

Spec'ing properly is a gateway drug.
12 Million People have been meter spammed in heroics.

Rifts events give you tokens, mats used for high-end equipment in the game. Trust people would still be farming rifts (not Rifts raids, the two things are not the same)like crazy at level cap.

The people who rush to level is an very small minority in the MMORPGs, and there's no point rushing to level cap when your characters are going to be wiped anyway. Plus with the character customization and interesting class playstyle, people like to try out different builds.

@ OP. It's pretty weird to declare a game the best of all when you haven't even tried the endgame content,as thememarks usually are mostly based on it.

Sandbox MMORPGs that are not very well-known but definitely worth a look:

Ryzom, Haven and Hearth, Xsyon, The Repopulation, UO private shards, Mortal Online, Darkfall 1 remakes (New Dawn or Rise of Agon), RPG MO, Project Gorgon, EQ: Sanctuary (custom  server)

I mean how are rifts different to WAR public quests?

They are quite different. There's no object to Rifts/invasions other than kill the baddies and prevent them from wreaking havoc.

What I remember of some of the PQ's in WAR is that they were story/quest driven and they had more to do than just killing mobs.

    Okay, then.

It's the best levelling experience I've ever experienced in a theme park MMO.
