You mean to tell me that Rift is nothing more than another mmo? WTF were the devs thinking?
I can't wait for SWTOR and GW2 come out so I can hear all the hate about how SWTOR is nothing but WoW with dialog and GW2 is nothing but WoW with no quest text.

Oh no the game is polished but it doesn't have DX9000 graphics, baaaaaaw. RIFT is not a WoW killer but it's far from unpolished. Seriously go outside people and stop crying like 3 year olds. It's only a video game.
When did you start playing "old school" MMO's. World Of Warcraft?
I played beta and wasnt impressed so that helped make me decide what im going to do and that was not to play the game. But as long as the people that do like it are happy thats also fine with me
You can't compare this game to WoW as it is now, with 6 years of expansions and content patches, as well as a multi-billion dollar company constantly devoted to it. Instead I compare it to WoW when it was first released. I find it slightly better than that, actually.
I hit level 23 today and the game gets better and better. If you really did buy the game, do yourself a favor and get your money's worth out of it. Also, try other classes/soul combinations; some are more fun to play than others. If you get to 30 and still don't like the game, fine, but it seems people give up on games far too quickly. It's an MMORPG that is meant to be played foe months or years. A day or two isn't a good trial.

Let me save you time. This is not a review. It is a flame thread. The guy has already been reported for a reason because he is just trying to get people to argue. If the game sucked this bad where are the multiple threads? Also if this guy bought the game he obviously never read any reviews out there at all.
Trion does not hide the fact that questing is linear. There are also Rift public quest to level or Warfronts gives tons of xp or you can go run the instances for good xp too.
Linear btw in case noone knows is..I finish a quest here and I am not lost trying to figure out where to go. How is this a bad thing? This game is not pure linear. You are not forced to do the quest because there are so many other options to get xp.
Funny thing is....you dont see any "good" reviews on this thread till later on...because most people who enjoy the game aren't taking time away from the game to post here lol.

You don't like the game that fine I can see that. But calling it un-polished makes you lose credibility.
Game is very polished all in all and has very good preformance with huge battles. Far far better than AoC or WAR had. It destroys those game in performance where it matters. Better than Aion too since I don't get crashes and I have been in fights in starter zone where there where about 100 players fight 100 NPCs. Aion crashed when this happened.
So you believe the word of one person without hearing any rebuttal. You consider anyone who thinks the game is good to be trolls but the first person to make a post with negative comments is the true word?

Just finished a few runs of IT, and we're heading over to do a few runs of ROTF when the servers are back up, which shouldn't be long now. Trion almost always has them up earlier than anticipated.
Wrong. I've been playing this genre since 1999 and I am having a blast. The game is fun, and Is a solid title no matter some people say.
How could you have had an all day session when they have taken servers down multiple times for tweaks and maintenance? Heck, they just put out another update - 22.3mb this time.

Same, about to go make some taco salad for dinner and then go back to Rift for the night. It's been a long time since I've been addicted to an MMO, finally the slump has been broken. Yay!

Only reason I got off was because they brought the servers down for an update. Thought it was the perfect time for food.

Interesting "fun" story.
I was followin some rifts and came to that town that is in the water. Apparently there was an invasion that took it and it spawned quite a few mobs so that everyone was a bit reticent to dive in. There were only a few people standing around apparently wondering if they should take the chance.
so I dove right in, pulled some mobs and then was joined by the rest. Then I saw on the other side another group fighitng there way toward the center like we were.
Took a small bit but was a good time taking back that little town.

Its pretty easy to avoid the queue if you are willing to watch the server list and jump in as soon as they bring them back up.

The queues are much better since they addressed the issues with the autorunners and those sitting on the character select screen. 100 people is only around a 10-15 minute wait instead of 45 minutes to an hour.

hmmm, I started early this mornign and they only took our server down once during that time. They took the server down about 15 minutes ago so I'm making dinner.

I think there comes a point where MMO's or even computer games of anytype stop being peoples thing. For me Rift does what an MMO is ment to do well, it falls nicely into the next WoW with an easy transition from one to the other with better graphics and an attempt to offer more easy multiplayer aspects and character customisation options.
Thats not to say I think its perfect, I agree with the respawn rates the feeling of general under poweredness and easy at which a few like level mobs can gank the crap out of you. But I think it offers what an MMO is ment to offer. If it doesn't appeal in the slightest I am not sure that any MMO can deliver what people want. There is often as not a trade off between epic story and multiplayer fun. Detailed reactive combat with state of the art graphics and many people having machines that can run them when there is 100 other people in the area trying to beat the crap out of each other.
So I think perhaps people knocking rift are tired of the MMO forumal and it isn't the gold mine opportunity it used to be. I am sure in a few years people will wonder what the big deal about the Wii and a motion controler was. Tastes change and this might be the start of MMO's at least ones requiring a level of grinding becoming less appealing to the masses and rather free to play less hardcore experiences becoming more appealing.
Obviously this isn't the OP's cup of tea, but I think Trion have done a great job. I've been playing MMO's since '99 and this is about as much fun as I've had in the last 6 years. It's what I was hoping WAR would be but failed to deliver.
Opinions will vary, naturally, but mine says the game's worth looking at.

Your opinion of the game does not remotely match critical consensus and although opinion is fine labelling those of us that do find it good as clueless is just you being an elitist jerk.
