It is only 6 PM in england and already there are servers which are full.
I stillmaintain, thats alot more low then I thought there would be, 6 pm is primetime for alot of MMO players.
Yea might have open too many servers for HS but IIRC rift is not releasing in Europe till the 4th .
Hmmm... then why did you use the example of '6PM in england' if it's irrelevant anyway?
Or better said, a better reply would've been 'it's only launching in Europe at the 4th so let's see what it shows then, and for the US servers it's far outside of peak times still'.

Lol, they had the same headstart day as NA, you re saying many more are joining on the 4th, I highly doubt thousands more are going to join.
I think you are really under estimating the number of people just watching and waiting.
Maybe so, but I don t think it will come in masses. If it does, don t forget alot of people will drop after free time, then 2 month , and 3rd month. I can t see them maintaining even half the servers, 3 months from now.
Hmm, the issue wasn't with the FULL servers, it was with the amount of the LOW servers. As far as I could see there'll be a queue for a number of servers anyway, no matter how many servers you add.

Simple question. Why? I mean WAR failed for a whole page full of reason, so they consolidated
for a reason. Aion where do I start.
What issue do you see causing probably half a million people to leave? People posting about
end game are saying nothing, but positive things.

It depends on how much retention rift has and there is no way to know the answer to that. If they have high retention they should be fine, if it is mediocre to low they probably have too many. They are still in the growth phase right now. The game for my tastes had very low re-playability since it had one path of content and rifts get boring so quickly. End game isn't the only thing that retains a player base, they want to be able to level up alts and have fun with it.

Honestly, I can see alot of people getting bored. I know personally, at least 15 people saying they ll not sub after the free month. They ve been playing DAOC, and wanted to try it. All of them said the lasting appeal isn t there. I hardly doubt they re the only people in the whole world thinking this way.
Sad to say but IMO most MMOs nowadays are made the instant gratification way, and thus become stale quicker. Nothing is really hard to achieve, and people move on to the next. We ll see I might be wrong, but i m willing to bet you ll see alot of posts, with"solid game, but not for me" etc in a month or 2.

That part is expected. People come into Rift which is closer to an EQ2 or WoW crowd from DAoC getting their hopes up are guaranteed to be dissapointed.
There are obvious groups of people who I do not see sticking around and anyone can tell you that. This game is just different from epic failures like Aion and War. It does not require massive populations to work.

I can agree with that, but as I saod, alot of people will get bored. The standard MMO these days all fall into that category. The newness wears off, people start to realize, it s not as amazing as day 1. Granted alot will still love it, and I think Rift will be a success, but I can see a rather large drop off, in the near future.
This game is just different from epic failures like Aion and War. It does not require massive populations to work.
I wouldn't say Aion was an epic failure: it's still immensely popular in Asia, and it was as polished as Rift is at its launch. Its huge flaw was the level grind and quest content shortage in the mid to high level range. It was still more enjoyable for a longer period of time to a larger group of gamers than a lot of other AAA MMO's.
Its failure may have been to retain the bulk of its non-Asian subs for longer than a couple of months, but Rift still has to prove that it is capable to do just that as well.

I just do not see the drop off. Like I said War and Aion saw drop offs for incredibly valid reasons. Aion put grind into everything. War had just massive class balance issues and populations just spread so far out.
These MMO's in the past 5 years have been released more like Betas and have spent upwards of a year after releasing fixing problems that never should have went live.
What problems are you seeing in rift? Too add damage meters or not? How to do an LFG system? There is just no glaring problems that I see breaking the game. I mean that is why so many people are watching because we are all waiting for that one issue that Trion refuses to fix and kills the game.
As the days go on I am not seein it. Look at the forums. Where is the pvp OMG this class is op qq? The queue threads have all but dissapeared. I mean as a developer they put out a pretty quality project.
Aion NA released compared to Korea was too different monsters. Aion NA literally just fixed a MASSIVE bug 16 months after release that has affected balance on every single server for months. Aion patch are just one bug fix after another and it goes on for pages and pages.
Go youtube "hitler gets crysystem.dll crash". That bug caused almost CONSTANT crashes for like a month when Aion released. Where is that qq at in Rift?

I already explained it. You might not see it, but many many people playing Rift atm, will see it or already have. The newness will wear off. It happens in every MMO, except WOW, but as I ve said MMOs since WOW , well alot of them, are the same thing over and over, without really much challenge. People are already saying Rifts become stale, well if the name of your own game, Rift, it s elements in game become stale thats now good news, especially only a few days after release. I know you can t see it now, but it will happen. It already did with me, and that was before OB ended.

Reason why the WoW was able to retain its player base better was because of content coming out regularly. Within months of release of WoW they released Mara. Where as WAR did nothing fixing a couple things and releasing 2 classes that were originally cut from release is not major content push.
If Rift can also push content regularly they will fine (supposedly have 4 instances and couple raids in devolopment and release soon).

That is one thing Scott Hartsman hs said. That because they have not had to go in and fix
issues like something really really broken they have been able to focus on end game content
since about Beta 6.
Right now we have a lot of expert instance, raid rifts, and 20 man raids. I can walk into
Moonshade and see Hammerknell a double digit boss raid. There is supposed to be another raid
that is coming out before Hammerknell within the first 30 days.
I bet they are waiting for a pro guild to take out Greenscale before they release it.
WoW took forever to release any real new content. What they added was content that was supposed to be in the game at release but wasn't because they released the game before it was ready. Mara, Dire Maul, Battlegrounds etc were all supposed to be done before it even released and then one day out of the blue they told the beta testers they were freezing content so they could release.
Not the worst business plan to be honest, having some content waiting to be released right away but I really don't think it was planned that way.

Yes but they re already in their headstart. So are they going to add more servers on the 4th in EU?
Is it March 4th yet? Game has not actually gone retail in Europe yet lol
I can tell you one think guaranteed. EU did need more shards. Unlike NA close to 80% of their
shards said Full.
Judging by the headstart list and now Trion was definitely caught off guard by that massive
spike on Feb 24th of EU.
Hmmm... then why did you use the example of '6PM in england' if it's irrelevant anyway?
Or better said, a better reply would've been 'it's only launching in Europe at the 4th so let's see what it shows then, and for the US servers it's far outside of peak times still'.

The 12 new servers that were added recently were already opened (they are the ones listed as low).
