Seems like trial members are subbing to the game, more then 50% in the poll bought the game.

For any MMO, what percentage of trial members do you think not only visit the forums but also post on them? Just curious.

QFE lol. But I tried the trial and hated it due to it being so buggy and the server always going down. I thought Darkfall was much better then this if you want a FFA looting fantasy game.
I don't know but more then half on that poll said yes which must mean that trials are at least subbing to game.
No, it just means that trials that ALSO post in forum!
BIG difference!
You can't post on the forums with a trial account. Or at least I couldn't.
Eleanor Rigby.
trials can't post in customer section i think, only public where the poll was made.
Actually no...
.. if if you read the thread and look at the names, many subscribers decided to "help MO" by voting in the poll even though it said it was for TRIAL members only in the thread title, the poll and the OPs first post. I mean, unless you are going to argue that Shinzon, Azharathehunter etc are trial members.
Secondly, even if you count those who obviously were not trial members (like Shinzon) you get 37 votes. See, most trial memebrs who had a bad experience (like the sever crashing 3 times an hour or getting exploit killed even with yellow flags) will simply delete the game and certainly won't be visiting the forums.
So I will have to say that all the poll means is that 37 people, minus the fake votes, have said they will be buying the game. 1500-37(-the fake votes)= 1463 (minus the fake votes) left to go to hit Henricks stated goal of 1500 additional subs. Of course, that isn't including the subs they normally lose as well. For instance you said in IRC yesterday that you weren't playing because you were playing Minecraft and other games and were not currently subbed along with the guy who was running the MortalMarketVent who quit due to the server issues last week....

Well i've taken the plunge with the trial no doubt if my past beta client had worked i'd prob have been an alpha tester but in a way i'm glad as the community forums are very informative and honest about the state of the game and how it was months ago.And to all accounts it was a mess but from what i have seen i'm impressed enough to hold out buying Xsyon as the new features in the next month show great promise and the devs like Xsyon show a real love for their game. And the server is more stable and relatively lag free which is always good to hear
So maybe i like many others will give this a go and then sate my desire for A themepark Mo with GW2
Sorry to quote you for just 2 words, but I'm basically agreeing that this poll is not really useful, but will mostly be pointing out opposite bias.
*As with any poll, this one doesn't represent the total population, just a sample. To get any idea what it means in terms of new subscriptions, you'd have to know the actual number of trials. "1500-37" is pretty meaningless even if the poll were a perfect representation of the trial players. Also the poll doesn't show the couple people that responded in the thread that they were purchasing second accounts but didn't vote in the poll
1)Sample bias -- The poll only samples people actively participating in the forums. This biases it towards people who like the game. It also biases it towards people with strong opinions (both pro and con)http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sampling_bias
2) Established members voting-- Paratus voted no to "rebalance" the poll and negate Shinzon's vote. Aezreal voted no because... well I don't know. All I can say is he was posting on forums other than the public forum and seems to have a fairly negative opinion on MO. Same goes for Azrae1.
3) Double voting -- With such similar names and similar opinions, there is a fair chance that Aezreal and Azrae1 are alts for the same person.
4)Voting by people who made up their mind long before the trial --Cronnix This might be a more specific example of #1, but I suspect that he if he did try the free trial, he judged it in light of his already formed opinion.
Also, since the free trials last 14 days, I'm not sure of the reason to close the poll after 7 days (of the trial).--- Ah NM i just didn't read the second page of that thread closely till I say Lazerus's comment. OTOH Maniac avenger didn't say he was closing the poll because of that
There is no...AND YES.. just no. The title of the thread is wrong as the poll is wrong.. 37 people voted yes.. including multiple folks that were diehard fans and not trial members. So all we know is that 37 people (minus the fake votes) say they will subscribe. Nothing else.

Yep, and it is 66,07%!
Aka, more than half (since there is probabely as many fake no-voters, and Paratus No vote to balance the poll)! Good to see them enjoy the game!
If SV was so confident in their trial retention, wouldn't you think they would post the actual numbers?
I will point out the obvious no one sees. In a game where you absolutely need to go to the forums to leanr how to play, under 100 people voted. %67 of a low pop is still a low pop. The free trial has had no huge influx of people on the forum so that tells me there is no huge influx of people coming into the game.
If you are looking at Henriks Voodoo economics he needs 1500 subs I guess. Now I would like to see at least 400 active people on the forums to even believe they are getting anywhere near 1500 subs.
good, hopefully with enough people buying this game SV will finaly have enough money to actually fix this game and make it playable.

Please stop posting here. Thread has been ruined by people who vote yes/no but are obviously not TRIAL members. In a few days I will make a new thread. PLEASE in that one do not jump in with people trying to ruin the poll. Only vote if you are a trial member.
PS: How many people actually play do you think? I thought we would have hundreds (if not thousands) of votes. I'd say if there are 5,000 that try the game and they get 20% to sub that would be a win.

lol EXACTLY!!!! That is %100 what I meant with my post. And remember this is a game where you NEED to go to the website to get game info.
I think majority of thos who won't sub don't even bother visiting forums, so that alone invalidates the poll. Then, as many pointed out, those who are already subbed decided to "help out" and voted on yes.
Well I have a group of 4 friends that have subbed since the free trial... I guess that is invalidated because they do not vote on the forums!
The population is growing, ignore the haters.
I would think that most people who give MO a trial don't wander in by accident or on a whim. They are looking for a particular type of game and clearly understand what the game is and is not.
It makes sense that they'd have a higher retention rate than some other games which are more generic in terms of features and more likely to draw in players because of advertising or just a whim purchase to try something new.
Xyson is a similar game, I think a higher percentage of people who shelled out 40 bucks to try it end up sticking around.

I MIGHT agree with that... if the Trial had launched like a normal one with no issues. Remember though that the first half of this trial had server stability so bad that it was literally crashing 3 times an hour. Also remember how bad the patcher was working where these guys had to start their own torrent outside the patcher to get the game and then manually copy the files where they belonged.

As above on both counts and i was one of those guys nearly gave up as the patcher was getting no where fast,so had to do the FF14 shennigans and download the four Mortal patches via torrent, seems U-torrent works well as bit comet got bugger all.
Well...I did try the game a week and half ago, and I did not buy it. Why? I can stomach a certain amount of bugs. I can deal with the server going down peroidically. Especially if a game has just launched. For a few months after launch things can always be rough. But NINE months later? On the Saturday I played...pretty much all day. I beleive the server went down 8 times in my play time. That's a little ridiculous. I even played on Sunday, then Monday. Server....up...down...up....down....It's just silly.
What was worse is that instead of taking some responsibility for the whole mess, the lead developer blamed everything on the company he licenses the game engine from. A potentially game breaking patch, which your programmers and server techs have no apparent way of fixing, should not have been released right before letting trial players in. Just reeks of amateurish crap. I don't know all the intracacies of the situation, don't really care to. The experience give me a bad impression, so much so that I probably will never consider purchasing this game.
I actually liked the game. I did enjoy my time when the servers were up. I did die twice to some underwater bugs, losing all my stuff, but it wasn't horrible. The community, although tiny, was pretty cool. These things are not enough for me to buy the game though, given what state the game is in.
^^ This ^^
P.S. Are you the worstluck I play EVE online with? If so... o/*o
Hi Shaun! Yes, yes I am!

The poll is pretty useless for many reasons.
The problem isn't getting people to buy the game anyway. . it is getting them to stay. If I tried the trial now without having played before I would buy it for sure. . and then likely play for a month, unsub and wait to see how things progress. It is retention that is the problem. JMHO of course.
