Hacked Account/ bug??

Not clear right now if its a bug or hacking.
2 more ppl on the thread got the same bug after patch.
Finishing scaning my computer with tons of programs = nothing
My lvl 10 character still has his stuff... is not much, but i think if the acc was hacked they would clean this char too.

The game barely started, and someone already hacked my account....
Lost all my money, and all my itens, from bank and backpack....
Damn im pissed...

The problem with the security stuff is: if you assume that Trion did their work well regarding the security, and the way the game is polished we can assume they did, then it's your job to make sure your account is secure. They let you register, and it's in your responsibility to handle the account information carefully.
Still, Trion aims at the same customers as WoW, and you know how those people are... they get whispered ingame by someone they don't know "congratulations: you won a mount! Get to this and that website, and login with your account information, and claim your mount!", and thousands or millions of people do just that. Or they go to YouTube and see a video, where someone claims "I can do double damage with my character by installing this little program you can download right there!", and people do that. Or they want to powerlevel and take turns with friends, giving them information on the account...
And then they complain about getting hacked.

another site hacked that you used the same id and pw with.
Only using one username and pw for everything.
going to porn sites.
hitting a fishing site.
downloading of illegal moveis, software or music
all those are infentiatly easier to get your stuff from then cracking trions main site.
99% of the time its user error. If it is a sercurity breach on there side then the game is toast and people will leave it in droves.

Well, i've been playing mmos since eq 1, and never, never got a account hacked...
Im not stupid, nobody knows my acc info, never bought gold, never gave acc info for nobody, in foruns nor emails, have no viruses nor trojans on my computer
It may not be a hacked account. My wife has had the same thing happen. All equipment, inventory, and money are gone after a game patch. Several other people on the server had the same thing happen to them. We sent in a support ticket, but it is now the 6th day with no help or response from Trion.
First thing I though is you either got a keylogger, clicked on a bad e-mail, went to a bad website, and/or have a crappy password.
Only time I've been hacked was after I got a trojan from a bad advertising banner. Anyone remember when Curse.com and Allakhazam's got that virus from bad banners? that was the one lol. This is what turned me on to Firefox's addon "NoScript".
There's a saying in tech support. "90% of computer problems start between the keyboard and the chair."
Visiting the wrong web address without correct protection (ooer) can do it. It's often something that seems quite innocuous thats actually far more nefarious that it appears. This is how a plethera of WoW players got hacked.
Another favourite is addons, databases like Curse screens them quite well in WoW, WAR etc, but occasionally one gets through that'll strip your details.
Remember, it's not necessarily something to do with Rift thats compromised your security.

Well, changed my password and hope i wont get hacked again...
My passwords are generated radomly so its like impossible to guess without hacking.
I dont use databases, and almost dont navigate the net on my gaming rig...i use the laptop for that...
But who knows... maybe some crazy virus/logger got me...

Pretend you do. I reccomend a combination of scanners. So far no single scanner can get em all, but use say, AVG, Malwarebytes, and HijackThis and you'll probably find it.
Note: HijackThis only scans registery, takes some time or knowledge fo figure out which reg keys it lists are bad. But I've found many trojans with it vs scanners.

Evidence suggests you do, just because whatever virus scanning and malware finding software you are running hasn't found anything does not mean your system is not infected, just that whatever you may have hasn't been discovered by these companies and added to the antivirus definitions.
I'm curious as to what web browser you use, and what if any security addons you run with it. I'd be willing to bet IE. Also have you been going to class build or Rift "addon" sites? Because if so you could have picked up something by way of a java applet from one of those sites, if your browser is not secure, with a hostile applet you don't need to download anything, just go to the site the script runs on. Also if you did use one of the third party parser addons floating around, I'd be willing to be the hack came from that.
Never assume your system is bullet proof. In this day and age there is no such thing.

Well while i hate to say I hope this is the answer to what happended as its a pretty crappy thing for Rift customers to have to put up with, at least its better than being hacked.

Yeah, gonna try some different antiviruses and malware programs. Im using AVG, malware and spybot for now.. gonna try some new ones...
As for browser, i use google chorme and firefox.
I recommend it to all advanced users as sometimes I've had a virus kill the antivirus scanners, but Hijack this still works. Mainly because it's only an exe and doesn't need to be installed to scan the registery. Through the reg keys it's listed I've been able to manually remove viruses that kill the other scanners.
She didn't have anything in the bank. And only quest items remained also.
We know she wasn't hacked. We were playing, message comes up about servers going down for 45 minutes for a patch (on a saturday morning...come on Trion, really). We go back in after the servers come back up, just to find a naked and broke character. Mine was fine.
She is pretty upset. We had been leveling with some guild friends. Just reached 22. Now they are 29 and we still 22 because we are not playing until it is fixed. Because I talked with others who had there characters fixed, they do a restore and you lose any progress made back to the rollback.
We created new characters to pass the time, but are really pissed with the poor support. It took almost 4 days to receive a generic auto-reply saying that they are sorry for the slow support, that they are understaffed blah blah blah, and to reply if we still have a problem. Two days since the reply and still nothing.
Game rocks, support blows.
Well both those browsers are safer than IE so thats good. I recommend running the addblock and noscript addons with Firefox. I also recommend Spyware Blaster to help immunize your broswers.

Support blows indeed... 6 days and no response is just stupid. The game is so polished, i was hopping support was equally good.
Ill thing i'll play another character for now too.. if i lvl and they roll back the character ill be pissed hehe!
But right now i cant play, i dont have gold to buy new equip and cant fix my soul or use the portals..

I can almost guarantee that the OP has either:
a) used a gold seller
b) used a powerlevelling service
c) used a stupid password, like "password"
d) used the same username / password combo that has previously been used for other games/guild websites etc
e) downloaded an 'addon' of some sort
I have played many MMOs and have never been hacked because I dont do these things...

Same happened to me..After patch all was gone! First time i have ever been hacked..Been playing mmo's forever myself.
i was stupid and used same password to old guilds and such though and old password to WOW. So who knows.
Support was great though i was up and running again in 3 hours. Make sure you put ticket (INGAME) not e-mail. I did both and i didnt get a reply from E-mail untill 8 hours after.

I think we were not hacked then... must be a game bug after patch.... wierd bug... first thing i thought when i saw my bank clear and no money = got hacked
The most common way to get 'hacked' is for you to use the same password for the game as for a RIFT related web site. When WoW moved to an id based on email addresses tons and tons of accounts got hacked instantly because of it. While it is technically the players fault when this happens part of the problem is a horrible decision by the game designers.
