Best new released MMO I have played in a VERY long time!!
I'll admit that I was a fan of World of Warcraft... but over time the game got stale and so damn boring. Due to my boredom I would always try to stray away to ANY newly released MMO and then shortly after... I would always end up coming back to WoW because everything else ended up sucking after a week to a couple months of game play...
This game is unlike ANY new MMO release that I have ever played... so smooth... hardly any down time... no bugs that I have run into or seen yet... SO MUCH FUN!!!! OMG... and I hate to admit it... it almost feels like WOW 2.0... It took so many good things from wow and other MMOs and combined them into a packed of ABSOLUTE PURE WIN!!!

Gratz to find a game you like.
It will be intersting toi see how many people that will stay after the first month, that will be the true trial by fire for the game.
It usually is around 60% or even lower, Rift might do a lot better or worse depending on how good the endgame is and how well Trion patches things.
I agree with you that it is the best released MMO in a long time. Not that it says a lot, TCoS is second on my list and it flopped badly, all the rest of them have been really poorly coded.
Finding something you like is still always great.

The rifts are okay but get boring after the first few.
other than that played since beta+launch got really bored .. its not worth the money or ur time to play this game.
You are very correct about it being beyond polished and a very stable release.
However although Rfit is a good game in its own right, its still a very traditional MMO.
Pretty much the same as all before it, just a bit of spit and polish and the same old same old tab target 123 mob dead, end game grind for gear.
But a very solid game in its own right that will please allot of WoW players, need I say more?

I was never able to get into wow. I was playing Anarchy online during wow's heyday, and well didnt even know other games existed i was so into it. Tried to play wow briefly, couldnt get into it, with its large and established community, and knowing what i had to do to get to where everyone else was (with gear score, achievements ect) So i never got to experience it.
I feel this game is a good makeup for that. SO far i enjoy it for what it is, not what it isnt. Ive been pretty big on sandboxes lately, however they always promise the world but fail to deliver on the basics. This game has great basics, and so far the dungeons offer more than just tank n spank fights, and the open world questing offers more than quest spam. I am happy for now. Will it last a long time? DOnt care, i dont play games to get married to them, i play them for as much fun as i can get with them then move on, without feeling sucked or disgruntled after leaving them.
Willing to bet money you have not even tried this game...
While I done enough rifts since beta to find them lacking diversity, the other day I logged nearly in the middle of a RIFT and it was great.
I wasn't wondering anymore whether I would craft or look for a group or what not, I was immediately in the action and it was FUN.

cant really tell what was so hard... stand nuke adds... move out of the stuff on the ground... kill boss... profit. So the end game is simple mechanics. Im sorry after seeing that I personally will not be playing this game. I tested beta and it wasnt bad but was waiting how the end game looked. But THANKS DUDE YOU SAVED ME 50 BUCKS> LOLOLOLOLOL

Personally, I found the game insanely boring, and I'm perplexed at how so many seem to think it's some "revolution" in the gaming industry. It's the same crap that's been rehashed time and time again since WoW came out. The only difference is that this time a developer actually took the time to polish it before releasing. Apparently, that's all you need to do to have a successful product in this industry. Sad...

That always annoys me too when people get so pissed off that you have a negative opinion towards a game they love.

I got invited to play Beta and played maybe 10 hours or so of it. Wasn't impressed really.
The tech tree's were different, and the rifting was some what fun but you can only do one thing over and over again lol

Yes I have played WoW/Aion/EVE etc. They are all great in there own rights. Rfit has the rifts but I don't think it really has anything that will keep people around except those extremely bored and not wanting to be apart of WoW or w/e

People like this game because it takes all the fun stuff from games past and leaves out all the stuff we don't like. It's like people (us who like Rift) enjoy chocolate ice cream, brownies, and cookie dough. Then Ben & Jerry's (TRION) creates an ice cream called Half Baked. Half Baked isn't a "Revolution" or "Next Gen". It's simply some damn good ice cream for those of us who like chocolate ice cream, brownies, and cookie dough.

I don't know about anybody on this site saying this game is next-gen, but then again TRION themselves said it.
i enjoy it for what it is. are we only allowed to play/like something that is a revolutionary games? if that were the case, i think there would be about 2 dozen video games on the market, and only one of them would be an MMO.
a lot of people enjoying it don't say it's anything vastly new, but have other things that keep us playing. 'fun', i belive was the common reason among those enjoying the game, not because its 'new'.
yes, you are entitled to your own opinion, but it helps when you have accurate data to draw from. the only people i have EVER seen say 'RIFT is revolutionary' are people posting on this site, of which whom I am nearly positive are trolls, knowing what to say to get all the 'MMO hipsters' riled up. good job on being gullible to those that this applies to...
in-game, i have never seen anyone talk about Rift being anything 'new', at least on the server i'm on. but many people talk about how much they enjoy playing with the souls, very often.
and with how many half-assed MMO's have released, how can a company actually selling a finished game be sneered at so often? THAT is far more sad IMO.

The game is fun. Although as an alt-whore I'm having withdrawl issues. I only need four toons.
Amen! If you wanna spend your time bashing a game, how about targeting a game that gets released before it's finished and then charges a subscription fee for their fans to essentially beta test.
Amazing how defensive some of you get at a differing opinion. You like the game, that's fine. I don't, and as I said, I'm perplexed at the fact that so many do when it's clearly a rehash of the same old thing.
Again, It's only my opinion. If you can't handle a different viewpoint, maybe you shouldn't be on a discussion forum in the first place.

Did I imply anywhere that I felt I was being flamed? Nope. It just confuses me that some of you feel so offended by a differing opinion that you think you need to "defend" your own. I didn't dispute your opinion, I just don't agree with it. If you feel the need to look at it in a deeper context than that, it's not my problem.
Edit: Also, to be clear, the quote that you posted from me wasn't even directed at you, but more towards the people that seem to take differing opinions personally.

After I have drank and re-thought my position(yes I type like this while drinking...don't ask why...am I saying this out loud or typing....anyways). My current theory on MMO's:
1. SWToR: It's Star Wars guys..come on. Only time I ever did anything with this is when I was drunk or was getting high and I played it on SNES. Anybody ever really figured out how the hell you make luke or yoda into a MMO? SERIOUSLY?
2. GW2...who here actually played GW1 like it was the best MMO ever? No we all played Aion or some other god forsaken failure. wtf was GW1 even about. All I know about GW1 is GW2 is supposed revolutionalize the mmmo world.
3. Rift..uhohhhhh get a whole bunch of devs together figure out what sucked after WoW Vanilla and update it = RIFT!. Trion is LITERALLY doing the exact thing Blizzard did to Everquest and some people are just RAGING!
These are my opinions and guess what we will never agree. Most of you are hater praying for some mix of mmo's + fps + RvR + next coming of jesus = ???

Here is what I know about Rift: ( this is coming from someone who played AION for 16 months)
1. Trion is responding within a few days to any bug I or anyone reports
2. They are not nerfing raid. Hardcore guilds are pointing out bugs and they are getting fixed and NOT NERFED
3. They are challeging Blizzard. OMG WELCOME TO AMERICAN ECONOMICS!! Competitions. I know SoE a Japan based operation or NCSoft a Korea base operation can not understand this, but TRION does.
4. I enjoy the game. I really realllllly like taking my time leveling. It is fun.
5. They have yet to bend over to forum qq when it comes to nerfing my class.
6. The haters are STRONG which indicated the game is GREAT!. Keep going haters I am loving you for this one.
