LOL! If they really let pre-mades play against pug groups this game is a failure and deserves to die. Thanks i will not look for this game again.
The minimum amount of a warfront raid is 10. The warfronts come in 10, 15 and 20 people variants. People can only enter as a group of 5, not as a raid. It is still a very big advantage but it's not a full premade raid.
Yes premade helps, but premade does not always equal win. People who come out with comments like " il take you all, and desiccate you one by one " and refuse to help on the objectives are the cause of loses more than any class imbalance in Rift design.

pre-made vs pugs in warfront,(battle grounds for wow ppl)
Q. they have so called battle group, what it mean is you q up with your server and 3 more, it doesn't change, the excet 3 other servers, always. im in a pvp server in EU, we q up with 1 more pvp server and 2 other pve servers. pve people mostly only do war front for Daily quest.
there are 21 EU pvp server's and still i only q with 1 of them and 2 other pve servers, meaning if your a casual pvp players that want to come, pick a war front, and pvp some, its not in your favor, if there is a pre-made on the other side you will meet them again, and again and again....
no pve=pvp rule set(yet, they just stated that the have the ability to change skills for pvp-pve)
no in game TS/vent (pugs do better when they can speak(take global agenda))
no clear index/response to the pvp people ( we just rose over 14 k threds in the pvp section), trion hs gone silance snce the lanuch about pvp.
world pvp is a joke, there is no motive to even do it since you dont gain or lose, there are no faction side quest (as servers quest for one faction to kill xx another or win a zone and hold it) the only thing you gain for killing a player is some xp and favor (pvp$), and favor come so easy so its not that.i cant even think how many times guardians (im a defiant) just rode by me as i was not even there to kill them (i did,) you can see rift groups with the opposite faction in it! (even though the idea is nice, its just to much holding hands on a pvp server, in pve things die by themselves, or something happen because skill has nothing to so with it).
afkers and botters- already.
that's about it, the gfx are great, pve is fresh, people are nice, the game is stable and run smoothly, servers are always at medium to high atm so lots of people in the world.no bugs.
After enduring PVP in Wow for the last 4 years Rift is a wonderful breath of fresh air. The same problems exist in Wow - Premades vs Pugs...it's just the nature of the beast. Joining a guild that likes to PVP and forming your own premade for Warfronts would take care of that.
Balance in PVP is a myth but Rift allows each player to have up to 4 builds which can be switched out on the fly almost immediately. We were in a WF the other night and no one was healing so one of my pugmates just quickly switched over to his healer and we ended up coming back from a -400 point deficit to win.
World PVP will happen whether you like it or not and if you're on a PVP server or not. If you're doing a Rift on a PVE server you can get flagged for PVP when the other faction comes to the same rift and you "accidently" hit one of them while killing the mobs: Instant world PVP and all out 3 way battle between factions and Rift mobs.
Although I respect your opinion that Rift PVP is a joke it's not a fair or accurate statement. PVP in Rift is alot of fun and much more balanced than Wow's PVP or any other game's IMO.
Currently playing SWTOR and it's MUCH better than it was at launch.
The PVP in Rift is fine for the game being so new. WOW has been around like forever and they still don't have balance so what makes you think that Trion can do it in a few weeks : / sheesh. Everyone seems to be having a great time PVP and PVE in Rift and I'd have to say it's been the best start for any MMO that I've seen.
Lol. Go back to wow, see how unbalanced it is. Then, come back to rift learn to build a character then learn to pvp and then make a decision of balanced or unbalanced. I thoroughly enjoy pvping in rift as a reaver/paladin build or a warden/shaman/sentinel build. If your pug is getting owned by premades, try stepping up and giving a little direction. It's not hard to mark targets....or just get your own premade and come up with strategies.
You guys seriously expected balance in a new released MMO? Come on!
Online RPGs with good balance: Guildwars. End of list.
And ANET have a guy whos only job is watching PvP and checking the balance. It took a lot of hard work to get the game balanced.
Games like Wow and EQ2 still have horrible balance after more than 6 years.
Not to mention games like Eve or DFO wheres there isn't any classes but the difference between veterans and someone who played a month is huge.
Rift might become balanced but don't hold your breath. It will surely become a lot better but the soul system more or less make it impossible to balance and when it is close to good they will release an expansion.
If you want balance you should play a FPS game, or Guildwars. And that is just because GW has been along for 6 years without raising the levelcap together with lots of hard work and the fact that items also is balanced in the game.
If you expect PvP perfection then yes Rift won't be great. And yes there are some rather frustrating things. For example is possible to basically get completely CC'd and lockeddown. You basically might as well get up and get a drink and come back.
But the PvP is fairly fun and playable and their are, for the most some solutions. When I play a cleric I can heal through CC and stop even classes that are OP or at least messed up. A warden ( for example a 20/20/0 warden druid sentinel at level 30) with two instant spike heals can completely stymy a saboteur and can stop and even kill champions as well. They have 4 instant cast heals (two hots, one of which is stackable to x4, two spike). A snare with bombard and KB melee back to ranged. Load yourself up with your hots and use spike heals to counter the detonate or champ crits and let the HoTs put you back to full health when they are using charages or spamming smaller less spikey attacks. Then blast em iin between and they eventually die.
The funny thing is when I play warfronts with this build in the 20's and 30's which is just filithy with sabs because they can completely whack other classes. They just spam over and over even when the math should be obvious, then I just kill. I have chased down like 10 different sab players and killed them like dogs. Some just keep trying over and over thinking some how that last detonate just didn't work for some reason even though I just countered their detonate in 2 seconds or time.
Now on my rogue, sabs were kind of ridiculous. I was fine with a modest amount of damage then bam I dead. But that is because the healers are bad.
I played rogue to 40 so far and now am leveling a cleric. Sab charages are very obvious they are large and have a particual look. As soon I see anyone getting chraged up, i do not cleanse because it won't work, I load them up with 5 hots. This takes the same amount of time as 4 charges. Then i use one instant spike heal. This counters a sab.
The sab mechanics are a bit off in the lower levels, mainly because they can do so much upfront spike. But warden, ie. hot, healers specifically can counter them. Most of the other healers cannot because they simply do not have enough spike heal to counter the spike damage and basically its often too late to do it that way.
To counter a sab you must get a rogue back to full health BEFORE detonate. Otherwise they may get one shotted. This is rather off.
The sab issue is a two fold problem. First they are not properly accounting for the spike damage. Second, while there is a counter, it is extremely limited to one or two types of cleric. Even certain healing clerics will not counter the spike mechanics as they simply take too long to cast. A long cast big heal won't work adequately against sabs. Especailly since mobility is extremely important in pvp.
I find the PvP healer/blaster spec I have powerful and fun and is a good pvp healer. It also happens to counter two of the imbalanced classes to some extent. A champion or riftblade can still whack you but its hard. Whereas a champion or riftblade will axe most rogues without any real trouble and should always beat an equally skilled one without much trouble. Saboteurs are not OP later in the game though.
But frankly alot of people simply don't know how to counter some of these tactics yet..
Another thing to realize is the somewhat over the top CC has a solution in later levels. Mainly through the PvP souls. However you cannot progress in the PvP souls until level 50 where you obtain pvp ranks.
This is a mistake in deisgn. You can get completely CC'd out of your jock by level 30 or so. But can't counter it adequately until 50? Stupid.
That the pvp souls have a tree to reduce CC seems like a good idea. But if they want to have some kind of endgame PvP advancement having it gate the pvp soul is a terrible terrible idea.
Rift is ok for PvP. But yeah its wonky and if you want a smooth pvp experience it will be frustrating.
You guys seriously expected balance in a new released MMO? Come on!

I agree totally with the fact that ANET has conquered many of the PvP balance issues. The game as a whole is pretty restrictive though, so we'll have to see if GW2 can pull the same thing off with more P2P-style MMO features. I would also submit Dark Age of Camelot for the PvP balance awards though. Yes, you could gank, and yes, those Hibs were a pain in the butt (Eldritches!) but overall it is a fantastic game, even now. Rift's PvP is flawed as is every PvP system in every game. But I think Rift has taken suggestions from many other MMOs and improved upon them. I don't get all the hate toward Rift for using these proven features from established games as the Blizzard Behemoth did that from day one! Oh well. I enjoy it and I suppose that's enough for me.
Same thing here as in warfront chat, blame the pve or RP server for the failures of your group. In alot of cases I see Pve or RP servers leading the same people whining in chat. Obviously this will not always be the case, because PVP servers will be playing more, but FFS the game has been out , what a month? Everyone is still new, not to mention we all know balance is hard to achieve even at top level let alone every bracket of a game that just came out. You don't even have viable statistics to back you up. What classes vs what classes, did your group have heals, did it have too many heals, were you short players or were they short players. Perhaps your 50, I didnt recall, but were all their players 39 and did your team have a bunch of low 30's. I won't say there is no unbalance because there is, but it's what you make of it.
As far as an in game vent/ts, forget it. I have no desire to hear people cry/moan/whine like girls/babies every time they are losing. And in some cases swearing profusely like an idiot over a game that should be fun. If I can come in as a top player every warfront and maintain my composure , so can they. So , o ... screw that, typing in chat is fine for a pug, your enemy has to do it unless its premade, in which case you would more than likely get curb stomped anyway If they know what they are doing.
For one the Op is trolling if you guys haven't figured out by now. But to respond to the guys complaining about pvp. NO and I repeat no voice chat is not recommended or standard for guys. In fact it causes alot of backend issues. You see very few games if at all actually do it. WOW did it and is still paying the price for that fool mistake patching it every chance they get. Also I've been in pugs in games where I stepped up got vocal and helped a pug beat a premade. It's not hard you got one minute to say something use it. Try and not be disrespectful and people listen. When things work out people listen more! The gamer who wants to be lone ranger dies alone and falls in line.
Be pro gamers not pro whiners because something isnt easy mode. Blizzard spoiled alot of people it made some of you stop acting pro. And act more I need a assist from the system to win. That's not game play and not showing skill thats called subliminal paying to win. Like people complaining thiers no dungeon finder. WTF is wrong with your fingers you can't get in a guild. Or go into chat 10 minutes and put together a group. That you can (EVEN) hand pick for less fail. But NOOOO thats too hard for lazy ass people. I'm glad atleast one company is saying F that noise and making people learn2play. And they are making money doing it which I hope Blizzard is watching and stop acting carebear. Because their sub base even with all the wow babies complaining while in rift took a massive hit. And its gonna get worse as rift mind you out all of 2 weeks.....Will continue to rise.
Not to mention juggernaut GW2 and Star Wars coming and semi ok Tera if you really wanted to see the end of wow. This year is it. It won't be one game to do it but a progressive knock out blow of games ripping away its already bored community. But back to the subject about rift and its non easy modeness remember this quote below
"You don't see Nintendo making Zelda easier because little timmy from texas can't beat Gannon the first 10 times."
have to admit....wasn't fun going against a premade of domi + multiple sabs. Getting squirrl'd and having multiple sabs stack charges on you gets old quite fast.
in other words, if your into to pvp stay away from rift atm.
balance atm does not exist.
Yes it does, but it's based on groups and not on balancing class vs. class. With the number of hybrid options available, class vs. class balance will never exits. Adapt to the idea.
pre-made vs pugs in warfront,(battle grounds for wow ppl)
Q. they have so called battle group, what it mean is you q up with your server and 3 more, it doesn't change, the excet 3 other servers, always. im in a pvp server in EU, we q up with 1 more pvp server and 2 other pve servers. pve people mostly only do war front for Daily quest.

Dude seriously, you need to learn to adapt. Among other things only 5 of the 15 people in the warfronts can que in as a pre-made at one time. Yes, they make a huge difference, but it's not unbeatable.
no pve=pvp rule set(yet, they just stated that the have the ability to change skills for pvp-pve)
Because we specifically asked them to not to do this. PvE players want a different experience from PvP players, and Trion was willing to put in the extra work to set things up that way at our request.
no in game TS/vent (pugs do better when they can speak(take global agenda))
Agreed, this sux, but you can work around it. It's not necessary.
no clear index/response to the pvp people ( we just rose over 14 k threds in the pvp section), trion hs gone silance snce the lanuch about pvp.
They've answered so many requests since beta it's insane. Where have you been? Trion listens and is more responsive than any MMO company I've seen or even heard of.
world pvp is a joke, there is no motive to even do it since you dont gain or lose, there are no faction side quest (as servers quest for one faction to kill xx another or win a zone and hold it) the only thing you gain for killing a player is some xp and favor (pvp$), and favor come so easy so its not that.i cant even think how many times guardians (im a defiant) just rode by me as i was not even there to kill them (i did,) you can see rift groups with the opposite faction in it! There are already groups on both sides working to organize world PvP. Perhaps you should actually get involved on your server instead of whining about things?
afkers and botters- already.
So what else is new? This is a problem in every MMO, and no one has a perfect solution for it. Trion reduced the amount of time a toon can do nothing in warfronts in order to boot them as fast as possible.
that's about it, the gfx are great, pve is fresh, people are nice, the game is stable and run smoothly, servers are always at medium to high atm so lots of people in the world.no bugs.
Wow that's it huh? And a counter-argument exists for every point you made. The closest thing to a legitimate gripe is the lack of integral voice communication.
IMVPO the demands of PVP and PVE are in many cases contrary. I said it several times already: If you really want good PVP, play a game MADE for PVP. Like Planetside. Or to a degree WAR. Or any of those games like TF2 or what which require no monthly fee at all.
I think MMOs should not even have a PVP and PVE. Either make a really good PVE+story game and focus on that, or do a really good PVP game. Splitting ressources usually ends up making both half assed. Besides the need in terms of combat for PVE and PVP are mostly in direct opposition. Like CC and AoE and aggro asf. It just doesn't fit. Just my 5 cents.
People don't ask questions to get answers - they ask questions to show how smart they are. - Dogbert
I was not aware Rift was advertised as a PvP-based game.
Well, most games nowadays are hybrids. They just can't survive on just PvE or just PvP.
Besides, PvP soul, dedicated PvP servers, contested areas and so on are features of a game that promotes PvP as well. It may not be the main feature, but it is certainly a strong one. Well, on PvP servers at least.
have to admit....wasn't fun going against a premade of domi + multiple sabs. Getting squirrl'd and having multiple sabs stack charges on you gets old quite fast.
Personally I dislike the AoE mana drain, but that's what you get when you have your whole team bunch up.
I was not aware Rift was advertised as a PvP-based game.
Lets see... I think the whole Faction VS Faction design choice should have been advertisement enough....and then there were the advertised pvp beta weekend events...and the whole intro video promoting the idea that each side wants to kick the crap out of the other, and then the interviews about fighting over RIFTS as a main design element.
Honestly these people, pve carebare types, trying to convince themselves that Rift isnt designed around pvp mechanics is sadly, way too predictable. It seems the pattern is for them to jump on a game and demand/push/reinforce its pure pve-ness, in which the developers generally will cater too. Then you have Vanguard 2.0, only dumbed down to the point of silliness and with an equally small population.
The games of this genre need to be designed around both PvE and PvP, as they are two sides of the SAME COIN. This game is going after WoW's target audience, as such, it being the clone type it is, will be designed around PvP (faction vs faction) from the ground up with PvE to set the stage.
I just wonder how ppl like op want to achieve balance in PvP with so many possible combinations u can build your class, imo it's impossible and only game that ever came close was gw, but they still balanced it for group for combat and not 1v1
Premades vs Pugs - not diferent to other games, still solution is soooo easy - find a guild to do premades with ... it's way more fun to do premade than to do random pug.
no ingame ts - this is a joke right ? only mmo game i know which has it is wow and in my years there, i have used it once ( to test it) and never ever met anyone who used it, seriously last thing i would want is to listen to pug crap - just reading it is enough ...
world pvp - well imo world pvp is joke in any mmo i have played, no difference here. It's true that its different to Aion (for example) in that players of opposing faction are much less hostile to each other, but if for you 'red means dead', nothing stops you.
You just lost *all* credibility..... you don't need the "top" talent from the pvp soul/// all the lower ones are good too....yeah break out of CC is totally worthless.. armor piercing.... 10% critical versus players.... yeah totally worthless.... /facepalm.
Threads like these sure make me miss the good ol' days when bragging rights and the thrill of victory were enough of a reward to sustain a pvp player.
The mentality that you must be rewarded with tangible goods of some sort, whether it be items, points or what have you, for killing another player is just something I disagree with.
Winning in and of itself is more than enough of a reward, imho.
You just lost *all* credibility..... you don't need the "top" talent from the pvp soul/// all the lower ones are good too....yeah break out of CC is totally worthless.. armor piercing.... 10% critical versus players.... yeah totally worthless.... /facepalm.
Agreed, it is blatantly obvious that the OP is making judgments based on low to mid-end player vs player experience.
Builds that lack the PVP soul at endgame, who intend on being competitive in any way, shape or form, are immensely hamstrung without at the very least a few of the benefits the PVP soul provides. Which, in turn, gives the enemy a massive advantage when you are engaging an enemy player ( who is competent with the role they play) that does have the PVP soul within there build.
Worthless? Far from it, in reality. It also doesn't require anywhere near a 21 point investment to become a viable, and efficient, part of your PVP build. 12 points is more than enough, anything else is personal preference.

I was not aware Rift was advertised as a PvP-based game.
Thats right the entire game is a failure because someone that is better prepared can beat you...............
Personally I dislike the AoE mana drain, but that's what you get when you have your whole team bunch up.
Did the OP actually say the vpvp souls suck?
Really?
You just lost *all* credibility..... you don't need the "top" talent from the pvp soul/// all the lower ones are good too....yeah break out of CC is totally worthless.. armor piercing.... 10% critical versus players.... yeah totally worthless.... /facepalm.
Um, yeah, they did. They specifically mentioned aspects of their PvP system in their original adds for the various cons and previews.
