RIFT is the most overrated MMO by far. I cant understand how people who played many online games may like it. Copypasted gameplay, dull world, extremely boring quests and so on. The only thing i found good in it was polish (yes, graphics didnt impress me at all).

Maybe when it goes F2P it could be worth playing, but for now its not even close to WoW and LoTRO league

The fact that many people have different opinions of many different things would be my guess as to why people like it.

Is it overly complicated or is it routine? By the laws of logic It can't be both.

only slightly OT here, but...what? the computer youre running right now has overly complicated routines running it right now. complexity and routine do not cancel each other out.

some people's jobs are incredibly complex and yet they do the same thing every single day. math formulas can also be incredibly complex and yet a routine part of a theoretical mathematician's toolbox. highly ritualistic religious ceremonies can be so complex as to cause the average observer to become lost in them. yet for the performers of these rites they are a daily routine.

the list of routine complexity could go on for quite a while here.

an infinite game for the purpose of continuing play."
