I'll wait a week or 2 after release to decide. I would like to play but something tells me this game will not be polished at launch. I think they are biting off more than they can chew on release day. We'll see.

No, its not a themepark vs Sandbox issue either, I just will not play any more WOW clones, I dont care how much I like the Star Wars universe. Thats why I say this game was a MASSIVE waste of potential. Its SAD on an epic level.

Im going ot buy it.  Im going to treat the MMO-ness as secondary though.  So will mostly play it as a single player game in the beginning ^_^

If its fun as a single player game, then Im sure to subscribe.  I just hope that I can play together with friends and that I can treat it as a single player game with co op lol

Obviously there's a lot about this game that you haven't read, however I doubt that it would make a difference.

Actually i've read plenty, go ahead and quiz me.

The game just doesn't fit the bill for the type of MMO i'd like to play, it has more to offer to the soloist than a groupist.

thats not true. Sure u can solo the leveling if u want. This game is going out of its way to promote grouping. So much so that they have times high levels will want o go back to oringin worlds.

They are only gonna phase a building not whole areas so people can always see other players and group. While a smuggler and jedi may not group till they leave origin worlds onc u leave origin world u will be able to group at will on planets do class quests side by side and in all likelyhood i will do so with my gf.

They have all the standard mmo fair from bgs, to dungeons to raids That require grouping. They even have a page up so u can create guilds already prior to launch.

All new mmo's since wow make it easy on the solo player but u cont have to solo if u dont wanna. U can go from start to end game solo or in group the entiere way from everythign they say jus tlike any mmo.l

Forced grouping doesnt work anymore in mmo's Being able to group when u want brings in players who perfer to solo and only do socialization in guilds and stuf while levelign on there own.

This is not a solo game with multiplayer and anyone still saying so isnt paying attention. Also they are gonna have guild capital ships to go with player housing on there own so that should be awesome.

I will play it, for the stories, but after that, i dont know. Depends on the end game content.

    Played: SWG-FFXI-EQ2-Aion

    Anticipated in order of Hype:
    ArcheAge
    GW2
    TERA
    SWTOR

Not enough info, but looks promising:
    Blade & Soul

    Voted No.

reason: Don't like the graphic style and not attractive enough for subscription.

Just a question, if you are so against "paying to play a game you already paid for" why the heck are you on MMORPG.com??

Not every game on MMORPG.com is P2P.  I play GW and LoTRO which are both featured on here extensively and neither game is exclusively P2P.  I have no problem with B2P games and am not against spending my money in a game store if I think the F2P game is worth it.  I just feel it is a waste of my hard earned dollars to pay a subscription fee for the privilege of playing a game after I've spent the $30 to $60 to install the game on my computer.

This is just my opinion and I don't hold it against anyone if they choose to pay a sub for playing a game.  I've just never seen a game that is so much better than every other game that it would be worth and extra $180/yr to play it.

I will buy it because I like Star Wars and am hoping the game is great to play.  Now, don't disappoint me, BioWare.

Not sure what percentage you need of solo vs group so i'll just break it down.

For the solo content you have

    PvP

    Solo Quests

    Personal quests

For group based content you have

    PvP

    Group quests

    World bosses

    flashpoints

    raids

I added PvP twice becuase you can both solo (if you choose not to group) or group and go that way. So they fit into both.  But it seems like theres 3 things that are designed to do solo while there are 5 things designed to do group.

You have things like exploring and crafting that you could put under solo but you could easily put them under grouping as well.

As for how much of each are shown is too little to tell, but they did state that it would start off to be solo oriented content (with a big focus on your personal story) then slowly as you progress start focusing on more group based content trying to ease you into it.  Encourage you to group.

Like i said i don't know what percentage you need, so 60% group 40% solo may not be enough for you, so you may still be right, but it's hardly everything soloable either.

Companions don't really make a difference here as i stated in another thread that you will always want a human of the same class over a companion as they won't be equal to a human in intellegence.

and before anyone brings up space combat, that is a mini-game always has been.  So count that as somethig you do on the side to break up the repeativeness that comes with MMOs, kinda similar to GW2 bar brawl.

Help me Bioware, you're my only hope.

Is ToR going to be good? Dude it's Bioware making a freaking star wars game, all signs point to awesome. -G4tv MMo report.

     Solo Content:

Class storyline - Quote: You can experience your whole class story entirely solo, as well as many of the world arcs.

World Quests – These are your standard MMO/RPG quests that you can pick up as you perform other tasks either in group or solo.

World Arcs – These are grand far reaching quests designed to be done in a group but can just about be done solo.

Bonus Quests - You do not ask/find these they happen automatically. For example if you kill a certain creature you may get a quest to say kill 10 of them, it gives various rewards.

Heroic Quests: Heroic Quests are quests of higher difficulty that provide a challenge to groups

--Quote: Heroic quests are of higher difficulty than normal quests, potentially require a group, and might be phased areas.

    Group content:

Flashpoints (or dungeons) - Designed to be done as a group.

(Only 3 flashpoints revealed/mentioned at this point, corresponding to a low/mid/high tier. i imagine they might add more before release, but this game is not brimming with what is seemingly the only group oriented activity prior to endgame.)

    Endgame:

There will be raiding but no details have been released

    PVP Battlegrounds

    World Bosses

I would put Heroic quests and world arcs as group content, but the Companion system is likely to make both soloable without much of a problem.

Also a note on group and companions:

Companions not in Warzones but are in Flashpoints but the group size can not exceed 4

2 players with 2 companions is essentially a full group.

Naturally things are subject to change, and cannot be 100% confirmed until the game is out and people are playing, but this is all official information given out by bioware and various previewers. Actual group content at this point essentially comes down to the flashpoints, which there are very few of at this point, and i'm guessing the occasional Named mob/World Boss.

For me it depends. If this comes out before GW2, then I will be playing this. If GW2 comes before this, then it depends how long GW2 can keep me entertained, but there is still good chance that I'll give this a shot.

I've never liked MMOs but despite my better judgement I'm really excited for this game. I just hope that BioWare doesn't lose themselves adding on to this game, I still want to see an honest-to-god KotOR III.

We actually don't know how much an effect companions will have in this game at this time (or at least i don't) one quote said they are at the power level of about 1/4 of a normla person.  Something along the lines of if you were missing a healer then you and 3 of your group members can bring their healer companions along to fill that last spot.  So i would gather they are about 1/4th the power level (unless thats changed) of a normal person.

I can see them doing solo content and maybe some easy battles. I don't see named mobs or heroics being soloable.  I as a mage never could solo a named mob or heroic content in EQ so i doubt i'd be able to do the same here.  Those tend to hit pretty hard.  Right now they are designed with a group in mind but you could 'feasible" hence the word potentionally be done solo if you found a way.  So it's not required to have a group to do it but your going to be in for one heck of a fight.

As it's designed that way, myself personally i would put it back in gorup content but your free to put it whereever you want.

I just see this game having about as much solo/group content as everything other game, just added a personal story on top.

But to each their own i suppose.

I've never been a big fan of them either. I have yet to find an MMORPG that has enough interesting content and features to justify a monthly charge. Hopefully this game will be it. If not, then I'm back to single player games.
