So now that we have a good idea of pretty much all we need to know about this game and with it being released later this year, do you plan on buying it?

If yes,why?

If no,why?

If undecided, why?

ALL opinions are welcome and no attacking posters for their point of view.

There are certain features which spark my interest, and there are certain features which slice my interest in two with a double-sided lightsaber.

I think I'll have to play the Beta or read some positive reviews to decide wether or not this game is for me. If GW2 launches earlier, I probably won't play this game. If they launch at the same time, SW:ToR will need to have better reviews than GW2 to convince me.

Nah. They've spent too much money on video, cut scenes, and voice-overs instead of immersive content. If I'm going to drop money for that, I'd rather just rent the movies.

Oh, I'm afraid my wallet will be quite operational by release.......

  • ktanner3ktanner3 Member UncommonPosts: 4,063

I voted yes. The devs have really impressed me with the voice overs, the new take on leveling and crafting, the open worlds and the class setup. The advanced class announcement put my fears to rest about diversity and this will make the old trinity system more interesting.  I see many hours of enjoyment for myself with this game and I look forward to getting the Star Wars experience that SWG never provided.

Although I voted yes I might change my mind if I find alot of bad things from betas or trial if they will make it happen.

So far is looking good but would love to see some decent economy in the works.

The only thing that will keep me from playing this one, is if they allow players to buy stuff which gives advatages ingame for real money. Otherwise I love to see what Bioware has to offer in this one.

Yeppers. Been looking forward to it for awhile. Trooper first then Jedi. Although it won't be the same as my Master Commando and JM on Chimaera, I expect it will be another fun filled sojorn into a place a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...

Yes, because i love Star Wars, and Bioware is ok.  Wether i last long term is another question, as i haven't been overly impressed with what the game seems to be offering at this point.

  • PhryPhry Member LegendaryPosts: 11,004

    No...

Gameplay restrictions implied by the game adhering to a storyline for me.. would be too frustrating..and when you factor in the games lacklustre single player space minigame.... for the moment.. the cons outweigh the pro's .. without some really good gameplay mechanics i can't really see that changing at all image

No. Ugly animations, Standard combat, Holy trinity, Only real selling point is "We have story", from the looks of it, it is mostly a soloers game with people grinding raids for gear for end-game.

Seeing I am sick of themeparks then probably not. Unless the PvP turns out to be something really special.

    Yes.

Looking forward to the stories and exploring the large planets to find the hidden datacrons :D

    If yes, why:

    - A big amount of open and immersive worlds with probably a crazy amount of polish, some of them are huuuge.

    - A fresh Sci-Fi mmorpg setting; speeder bikes / pew pew lazors / flame throwers, etc, etc.

    - Interesting take on companions with crew skills / missions, etc

    - Having your own spaceship as a player home + the stuff you can use it for (crafting, navigating the universe, playing space-on-rails, maybe sleeping, relaxing, etc)

    - Interesting classes with multiple roles system

    - PvP servers with extra* world pvp sauce (*compared to pve servers which might have some too in some area's).

    - Expecting a lot of polish regarding stability and few bugs

    - Deep storylines adding a lot of meaning to the leveling proces: less grinding and repetitive kill quests.

    - More interesting npc's to deal with rather than text box spamming statues.

    - The game's art-direction, artwork and the immersion it will offer.

    - Permanent exploration rewards

    - World bosses

I put no. I'm sure it will be a good game, but it's just not attractive to me what I've seen so far. I like Star Wars, and know it's not really scifi, but I'm also really tired of these fantasy mmo's. And when I say fantasy, I don't mean the lore, I mean the fantasy mmo mold... the stale combat and the limited level up and do end-game crap. The game just doesn't draw my interest much at all when I see a game with freedom like Archage, or fun and action oriented combat like GW2(Which also looks to be much more dynamic of a world, and it's focus not on end game) or Tera.

It also doesn't help when its most redeeming feature doesn't matter to me in an mmo much at all anymore. The fully voice over story stuff sounds real great, but I just thnk the moeny could have been better spent; I'm sure the story will be great, but I really don't play mmo's for great stories, I would just read a book or watch a movie... Or even play a single player rpg.

It's just personal preference, but that single player story aspect is not what I appreciate the most about mmo's. I'm not saying I don't want a good story, I love knowing the lore in games, but not really having "storylines", especially when it's a pivotal selling point. Then when you take that away, the game looks like a generic(not a bad thing) fantasy mmo to me, and I'll be saving my money for updating my computer and for competing mmo's/

But, I'm not saying the game is bad. I'm sure their is a lot of people that will buy it, it will be very successfull, and people will have fun. So I'm not hating on it, just not for me.

While I lean towards probably not, I voted undecided. By and large SWTOR just doesn't seem to have the things that will keep me interested in a game, but I'm not delusional enough to think there are not enough people out there foaming at the mouth for this one to still be a success without me.

  • twodayslatetwodayslate Member Posts: 724

If there is a trial initially (or I get into a beta), then maybe, but if not, then I'll hold off until the reviews come out.  The publisher has taught me to withold the benefit of the doubt when pre-ordering.

The premise of the OP is that we know about all there is to know for this game. NO we don't. There are still a lot of things to be revealed and those will be over the next months as the game ramps up to release. With that said, I have always planned on getting and playing this game for one reason only....it is Stars Wars themed. With that said, I never know what my plans are AFTER I start playing because no one knows for sure if they will really like a game until they actually play it.

Voteed yes.  I don't intend to pick it up at release... the whole fanboy chest thumping (as also seen in Rift) is too annoying and really kills community.  After they move on to the next fad game, I'll grab it.

If you just want to watch your game then perhaps. I prefer to play mine instead.

I really doubt the theme or direction of the game is going to drastically change in a few months, not this far into development. It's not goinh to get a combat overhaul, its not going to offer a lot more freedom, and its still going to be the themepark on rails type of game that they want it to be. Maybe they will announce some new world thats really huge or x feature, but I doubt that it will bea feature that can draw ppl in if they've held it off this long.

It would take some amazing world pvp to get me interested in this game, but i also doubt that will happen considering what type of game it aims to be.

Once again, not saying it's a bad game.

There will be world PvP. Whether it's "amazing" or not is something you'll have to decide on your own.

As for whether or not I'll play it? Yeah. At least 3 months.

You know, Dark, everytime a massive amount of negativity invades my brain about this game from so many posts, you save me from the raging storm and put me back on the mountain top of excitement about SWTOR.  +1 for being awesome.

Voted yes. But I will probably play it like a single player (or small group) game because to me it still looks like that. So I will enjoy the story lines for some time with some friends and leave after probably 1-2 month. Actually I am tired of theme parks but hey, it's star wars.
