This was one of the first concerns we fielded when we first started talking about doing this internally. Then we realized it probably won't be a problem (this was a great thing that CBT helped us actually put to the test). Even if it is, there will be other things we are implementing that will help. Unfortunately I cannot yet talk about them .

We'll see what happens. Players will not be required to use Mods if they don't want to. I would hazard a bet though that kevlar will be a very popular mod still - even with its trade-off. Fortunately if players don't like it after actually trying it for a while... we can change it.

The initial Open Beta invite list will only be people who received a beta application key.

We will have a character restoration process live when we enter Open Beta. The characters will not have their progression, weapons, vehicles, APB$, RTW Points or Action Time restored. Also, names will be on a first come, first server, per world basis.
More details will be in TechMech's blog in the next week or so.

Pando Media Booster is notoriously sneaky software that uses a users bandwith even when the user isn't actively downloading anything. It also starts up with the computer (Having to be configured NOT to), isn't uninstalled with APB if you decide to remove APB, and doesn't provide any faster download speeds than a direct download. GamersFirst Game manager is probably the most useless software ever, since it requires external programs just to download your software, making it pointless. Either have GamersFirst download the software WITHOUT PMB or have PMB do it without GamersFirst. *not both* Can you PLEASE provide a torrent release or mirror to the full game? This PMB is really bad and I hate having unecessary software on my machine just to beta test something.
Also, uninstalling APB DOES NOT remove itself from the registry. In fact, it just deletes the folder and nothing else. I confirmed this by reinstalling APB later before I formatted and the only choices I had were to "repair" the game, even though the game was supposed to be long gone. Can we get a proper uninstaller that removes registry entries? Thanks~
~Miles "Tails" Prower out! Catch me if you can!
We'll be adding the Open Beta client to several third party websites.
The uninstall issue seems odd. I just uninstalled and reinstalled and didn't have the same issue. What OS are you using and are you uninstalling from the folder or from the control panel?

hi i was wondering if there was going to be more things to do in social i know the stuff u can do now as i played apb before u guys jumped in on it i mean org houses and stuff maybe even some games and stuff
1. Will G1 ever consider reverting back to patch RTW's patch 1.4.3 weapon balance? Polls and the common veteran proves the majority would like the old weapon balance back. Every poll shows 70% want old system, 20% like the current one (half that I talked to didn't even play RTW) and 10% don't even understand what the subject is about. All you're doing is making it easier for us higher skilled players to kill the underskilled players, and making equal skill gameplay much more boring due to the 2 second twitch shooting combat.
2. What are the technical difficulties motorcycles would have? I personally find they'd be heavily use due to agility and speed they'd bring, as well as the amazing acceleration and the overall looks of them. They can even be a cash shop item, would be good for sales.
3. Will the prices of vehicles be fixed? Funny how a Vegas G20 preset with 2-3 upgrades costs 45k, or a jericho v20 with upgrades costs 90k, yet the customizable no slot costs 135k.
4. Will vehicle preset upgrades make sense? Jericho, vegas, cisco, bishada, and mikro should have their upgrades be Nitrous and fast repair, since they are fast cars obviously a speed increasing upgrade is wanted. Pioneer and the vans+trucks should have the reduced weapon damage upgrade, reduced collision damage upgrade, mobile resupply, and extra cargo upgrade, since they are the bigger vehicles, players want them to be more destructive and shield good.
5. Will some major bugs/problems be fixed? Glitch spots, auto-eject when mission starts, people outside mission being able to ram a random car into you causing you to die, people sitting on top of vehicle spawn or parked in front of the car spawn device to disallow you from spawning your car, parking vehicles on/in front of objectives, and ability to use an opposite faction's mailbox since it defeats purpose of not allowing you to use joker machine and such since you can still do same function with the mailbox.
Does APB: Reloaded have any plans to have seasonal and/or social community events live in the game? I'd love to see more depth and changes as the year rolls on by. Examples include seasonal and holiday themed clothing (such as christmas outfits etc,) pvp/pve events with seasonal themes and rewards etc.
Originally posted by birchall hi i was wondering if there was going to be more things to do in social i know the stuff u can do now as i played apb before u guys jumped in on it i mean org houses and stuff maybe even some games and stuff
We are seriously discussing making a new Social District with a casino and other things you can do with other players. You know, making it more Social than it is now. That probably won't go live any time soon but it is something we really want to do.

A Vegas style or Atlantic City style district would be awesome. I hope something comes of it sometime in the future.
I did see your post, I'm not ignoring it, there is a lot there and a response will take longer than I have to post right now. I'll respond as soon as I have time.

YES! We really want to do things like that. We are also planning to have regular GM events and the like. So there will be a lot of fun stuff like that to experience.
will open beta feature any new game modes, features not present in current beta build (1.4.3.68)
i'm sure there are a lot of us that are burnt out on the missions as they are, and not surprisingly, those who have played them several times have them memorized, which makes it pretty dull. Also, any thoughts on people "abusing" the ready system (in quotes because its not really cheating or exploiting, just lame) to only do dispatches/calls for backup
i really wish most of the features of the game kept players inside the action districts not hiding in social playing virtual poker 90% of their playtime. resources could be focused to exploit the features not found in any other games instead of trying bring every other game into apb

We've been talking a lot about this (both internally and publically). The first major update after we get Open Beta live will introduce TrueSkill (the rating system Microsoft uses for XBox Live). This will reduce the chances you'll be put against a high skilled player.
As for a better geared player, we are working more to make spending time in-game equate to being more specialized. This will have the side effect of encouraging players to group and find balanced groups. It will also make it so that you can be a low level player with a high amount of skill and still perform well.

Basically that is what we are thinking. I'd also like an area where you can throw down your ride. Pop the hood and get a couple of hot chicks hanging all over it. Basically really show off with your friends. Of course there needs to be a "why" for things like that and we're discussing all that as well. Meaning, what do you get for showing off or making a system where players can vote who has the best look.
We're also working on a DJ Battle system with the same idea. You mix in real time and players can vote to say who is doing a better job.
Has the picky installer setup been altered or improved in any way?
What I mean by that is, the old installer (pre-F2P) had some sort of preset 'works best with' requirements, and if it recognized that your hardware may not be 100% supported it would refuse to install, even if it met the game's requirements.

this sounds like its getting close to "LFM tank healer dps" making trying to group a PITA, especially with the plans to deparate players by district

Missions are "On the list". I think right now Skill Rating is VERY HIGH on the list and then a look a Missions would be next. So yeah, we're aware of the problems with them and will be introducing new ones.
As for Open Beta, the big new content there is the new Witnessing system. It is a lot more fun than the original iteration and I think will be a great change of pace from missions.
