Cosmetic appearance tabs isnt even a feature anyone wanted in the first place. Its a pointless feature that even Blizzard never implemented.

Huge huge mistake by Trion. Honestly this may be the nail in the coffin. For me and lots of others. Trion clearly does NOT listen to its community.

I don't even play the game, but this is why MMORPG communities suck in those games. I WANTZ ALL NAO!!!11!. GIMMEGIMME!

Cosmetic appearance is awesome, due to the fact you can costumize your character. You know.. some people like that?

I really don't understand the thinking behind comments like this one. I've skipped all the lower level dungeons on all but my first character, partly because it is too much of a waste of time to find a group for them, but mostly because the xp gain and loot drops vs time wasted grouping/running the damn things simply isn't worth it. I've actually been leveling faster by just bypassing this content, hitting a few rifts and moving to the next zone. Considering how many people I see begging for dungeon groups it seems I am not the only one to do this. And on the high end dungeons I only run them with my guildies anyway.

So I fail to see what harm a dungeon queue is going to bring as it seems not having one is leaving dungeon content abandoned by many players. There are a lot of activities in the open world and people seem to spend the bulk of their time there. This isn't Wow where there is NOTHING to do past a certain point but lurk in instances, usually even when you don't want to because your GS is just too low to raid with your guildies, or too low to get invited to arena teams, or too low to be allowed into a group BG event, etc ad nauseum.

I wish gamers would stop looking at the world through Wow-tinted glasses. It has such a toxic effect on the rest of the universe.

Care to back that up? A feature no-one wanted?

I remember reading on the Rift forums a thread that was asking for an appearance tab and the discussions in there were pretty mature and well backed up.

    Here we go, found it.

So if no-one wanted it, why would a thread titled Please give us an "Appearance Tab" (kind of lengthy) gather over 500 replies and 17,000 views?

Elsewhere I kept seeing people say/wish how they could pick and choose what to wear because they weren't happy with what they were forced to wear.

This is easily one of the best features a game could have nowadays as it adds an extra layer of diversification of your otherwise (often) drab looking clone. Anno 2011 players want more customization in their MMOs (you can read this all over) and other MMOs have shown that it is possible.

Players pay through the nose with real life and/or in-game money to look different whenever the option is available (saw this plenty a times in Aion). The more options a player has the happier he/she is.

Rift definitely caught my attention with this, I can tell you that.

The inverse can also be said but only time will tell.

Huge huge step forward by Trion. Honestly this may not be the last nail in the coffin for Rift. For me and lots of others. Trion clearly listened to its community.

That's what every game developer should do.

Dude.. have a little more patience. The guild banks will come, just give it some time.

Guild bank is less important to me that cosmetic tabs. I'm a roleplayer, I like farting around with character appearance. All gaming styles are valid.

Not saying your point of view is invalid, but the game is still in it's infancy, and stuff takes time. More patience, less knee-jerk reactions.

i personally couldn't care less about a bank tab, but i do remember leveling up and getting a piece of armor i really liked to the point where i gave up stats to keep wearing it. i didn't run instances at all leveling so didn't effect anyone but me.

i think the apearance tab is one of the best things ever added to MMOs, no idea why lazy ass blizz never implimented it. i still have that set of armor DKs starts out with (the blue set) in my DKs bank JUST incase they ever get off thier asses and add appearance slot lol

several MMOs has the appearance tab option and i used it in every one i played that had it.

I thought this is what my characters, Donkey and Muleman, were for?  Honestly, it takes me back to the good ole days.

I'd much rather they implement this wardrobe tab, then have guild tabards and special looking guild items to wear in them :D  With alot of customization, not the lame cookie cutter you find in WoW.

Yeah, because that new hat from the cash shop is so freaking overpowered...

Would have much rather seen guild banks be implemented before appearance/wardrobe fluff content.

I thought RIFT was one of the most highly polished releases in recent memory.  That said.. I think they dropped the ball in two areas.  The first was the overall guild content including the guild bank.  It just felt uninspired and/or incomplete.  The second major area lacking was the PvP ruleset.  I think they missed an enormous opportunity to expand the PvP on the PVP servers instead of the "ancient wardstone" system.  I know they say they will be releasing some PvP zones in the future, but that's just like every other developer.  Should have been in game at launch.

Cosmetic stuff... well to me personally it's a non-factor, but if it was deemed to be an important feature by the developers and a part of the fanbase then it should have been in at launch as well.

Overall though I am glad that RIFT seems to have changed the momentum of releasing games in an incomplete state.  It wasn't perfect but it was leaps and bounds more complete than many other recent launches.

Whats a cosmetic tab tho? lol dosnt sound too interesting either..

a cosmetic or appearance tab allow to wear gear to look how you want while getting stats from gear you might need to wear.  so say you found a set of gear you really like the look of at an earlier lvl but cant where due to stats.  this lets you appear to be wearing that set but get stats from other gear

Wow.. Thats actually a very cool feature.. Ive never seen this in a MMO lol.. Can't wait..

Still, guild bank meh.. I could care less if they put that in.. An new and fresh feature like a cosmetic tab is awsome though, also the LFG tool will be nice for me too.. I'am lovin this game so much.. Still only lv 38 but the games kept me entertained for the past 2months.

Lol what MMO have you played?

Lord Of The Rings has the best apperance tab of any mmo,you can wear and dye anything.

Many mmo have this type of system.

Yeah, so new and different that LotRO had it 3 years ago.

Hmmm, never played LotRO for more than a day.  Bored me to tears.  Well it's new to their game and I commend them either way for adding new features continuously and listening to their players.

It may of bored you to tears but the fact is it's not a feature that is new and different.

Guild banks were the last nail in the coffin? Sounds like you were already in the ground.

AION, WoW, EvE, FE, HOTK, SWG, and a few others.. None of them had an appearence tab, i think AION came the closest allowing you to dye and re arange armor appearence but that dosn't sound nearly as simple as an appearence tab.. And i never played LOTRO because the lack of pvp.

EQ2 has had appearance tabs since 2007,  and SWG has had  it since 2009

Guild banks and Appearance tabs are not found in every MMO, they are hardly essential. But both are useful and I am glad we will get appearance tabs. Hopefully guild banks will be in the next patch, but time is a factor and someone will always think that this should have been sorted out before that etc.
