Every engineer seems to be able to have 5 turrets down at the same time, and put down several mines, and they're ranged fighters..
This profession could be a horror to face when trying to take a keep in WvWvW... just imagine: every keep, EVERYWHERE, will be packed with rifle-wielding engineers, and a crapload of mines and turrets.
I really hope they limit the overall number of turrets engineers can put down at a time. Otherwise taking a keep like that could easily be pretty aggravating. And not in a fun way.
Well this profession looks pretty cool. Now I just need to read through all the interviews, blogs and the profession page before I understand how this profession will sorta work.
But it seems that yet again the community was right on this one. Means the Mesmer is the next reveal.
I appreciate the reveal but this class is way too ridiculous (and possibly overpowered) for my tastes.
How is it rediculous? Have you been following the lore of GW2 and seen the Charr movies?
And how could it possibly be known if it's overpowered or not? We've only seen STAGED gameplay movies. Just because it is more high-tech than other professions does not mean that turrets own meteor showers.
I've seen a lot of people complain about things being overpowered but this is the first time I've seen someone say it less than an hour after the class was even revealed~.
I've got a feeling that the Engineer is going to be a class that takes a lot of skill to play effectively as. Although their skills look OP, I have a feeling that they are going to make it so skills like Absorb require good timing, along with all the timed bombs etc.
Atleast I hope this is true otherwise I can imagine certain players just to use gimmick builds that require little/no skill.

Yeah, if you're worried about turrets, this seems like a good answer.

LOL, word, looks like ridiculous is right, just not for the profession

You are telling all this to me, a HUGE fanboy of GW and GW2. Mainly it was the grenades that gave me concerns, just hearing and seeing how the cooldown was very small for them and watching how easy it was to take out an entire group of baddies. Having said that, I know that everything was toned down quite a bit for the presentation and enemies will be much tougher, but it still concerns me. I'm just saying this is probably my least favorite class, and am a bit disappointed.
So I just won't play it, and let anyone who wants to enjoy the class, because I'm sure it will be very interesting. Just too much sci-fi for me.

I sincerely apologize, however it just fits with the direction Anet has taken with the Charr.
I'm not a big fan of the Engineer at the moment either but at the same time I realize how little can be said about how it will play and how strong it is until we see someone actual playing as one and we know the exact function of it's skills, traits and other mechanics.
Yet I find it strange that they wanted to wait with mesmer till the last, I'd have expected that they would reveal the mesmer and keep the mystery new profession to the last. Anyway, looking good
I'm not surprised. In fact, I was kind of expecting it. I'm totally biased so this certainly isn't based on logical deduction or subjectivity but --of course they'd save the best for last! I'm just going to have to wait a bit longer for *my* new wallpapers to be released.
Engineer looks good though. Sounds like it could make for some very complex and challenging gameplay.

they dont make underpowered enemies for this they use the skill presentations on much lower lvl enemies to make them die quicker. Considering how MANY bombs it took him to kill them, and the fact that cooldowns are reduced by a lot for the videos I cant say they will be any more use than as a form of CC in the actual game; a very good CC at that tho.

Oh wow I didn't even catch that comment. Yeah all the enemies on these videos are supposed to die quickly. It's all to display the abilities and graphics, not show actual combat.
This looks like the April´s Fools joke "Commando".....
I don´t like it at all.....
Ijust cannot imagine a Sylvari throwing granades, placing sensored mines and using automated turrets....
The Sylvari may be plants but they are not treehuggers, they are curious and open to anything. Sylvari Necromancers for example consider death to be a natural part of life instead of going all protect-life-at-all-costs-I'm-such-a-hippie.
Gw2 is looking better and better everyday. Wow a game truely to be excited about.
Playing: PO, EVE Waiting for: WoD Favourite MMOs: VG, EVE, FE and DDO Any person who expresses rage and loathing for an MMO is preposterous. He or she is like a person who has put on full armor and attacked a hot fudge sundae.
From what it looks like, I'm expecting the Engineer to be the crowd control master class with ability to sprinkle the battlefield with turrets, mines and all kinds of cc hurt.
So far it also looks more like a defensive/kiting oriented class in contrast to for example the Thief which is clearly an offensive, highly mobile class.

I guess it was guessed that there would be one and it would be cool.
