I love this game, but wish they had more options for crafting. Like the housing part and stuff, would be great to add a crafting system similar to EQ2 where if your not paying attention you can mess up or even injure yourself. If they brought a dynamic crafting system such as that this game will be beyond EPIC in style and content. I want to craft but have a dynamic crafting system that many MMO's leave out, just one click button and go type crafting is boring to me.
I'm with you on that Bezado. Its much more fun when crafting requires the attention of the crafter. I think Vanguard has the best crafting system going then EQ2. I would love to see something like that in Archage. However, I think neither Vanguard or EQ2 have made the best system so I hope Archage just takes that idea and takes it further. I can just imagine how a great crafting system like the one in Vanguard could be made even better. Heck, I'm sure SOE would have made improvements to it themselves after launch if Vanguard would have actually made a recovery and done well subscription wise.
The game looks so good. If it doesn't come to NA then I guess I'll just have to learn Korean.
Yes I agree very much. The systems need more dynamics to them to make for a change that appeals more to players who want that immersiveness that these RPG's are suppose to offer us.

I disagree with this wholeheartedly, because this has been shown to cause casualties of throwing things out to fast. I wouldn't want my game to be done quicker and left out things just so it could possibly compete with another title. Not every gamer who's playing a certain title now will be the ones who will play the next title. You have to keep in mind that gamers and MMORPG gamers in general never sit still for to long anyway.
And is it really necessary for them to throw out the game faster just to compete against a game that has no guarantees of being the next best thing? I think if the game is great people will come, they will follow, you don't have to rush things.
I see your point and agree, but you missed my point, Sales, period. We on the fourms are not even close to the majority playing these games nowadays or we would not be complaining so much. Do you really think SWTOR is going to take a hit in sales if the product is quick released, not at all, not sales, fact is if that game sux it will still outshine other mmos in sales which makes releasing ArcheAge here in the NA not a great option in a competitive fashion (of course I want a polished game jeez, they just need to hustle to compete).

Hmm nope, didn't miss your point about sales cause it was never even mentioned. You mentioned succeed as in the game is doing well with playerbase from what I read of your post. Even if it was about sales my point still is valid for that argument as well because if the game sucks obviously a rushed game will be it wont make much in sales. Also like I mentioned that players don't tend to stay long, when another great game comes out they will move to it, if it's absolutely awesome you can guarantee it will bring lots of players.
The awesome crafting and such might take away from the boring old combat system, time will tell, maybe they will make combat a little more interesting then the WoW tpe combat thats over done.
The horses looked/sounded interesting? Are the riding animations better than "normal"? By which I mean, are they realisitic? Can your horse still go from a gallop to a dead stop?
Will you be able to destory peoples buildings and property? Build your own and defend resources? Kill indiscrimantely. Then theres the possibility of the grind. Please no grind.
Destroying houses?, the only way houses can be destroyed is if you refuse to pay the landlords property taxes... its automatically destroyed. In theory, if you own a chunk of land in the 3rd continet (which you can), you can jack up taxes (whihc you can set freely if you own the land) and destroy everyones houses like a jerk. Other than that, houses are indestructible.
PVP is faction based, you can kill enemies with no penalty and can kill allies (faction) with severe penalties im posed upon you.
Open seas are open seas, no limits pvp wise.

Good article, very excited about the game, just wanted to point out for some reason when I hit the "like" button for the facebook linkage it tells me there is an "obstructed element" which may be a "hijacking attempt." I know you guys aren't doing anything bad just wanted to point out that error so you can perhaps find a way to remedy it, unless its on my end, in which case very sorry about that...
Hmm, reminds me a lot of Lineage 2, more so than Aion or Tera ever did. Anyway, I'll probably get my hands on it sooner or later (open beta). Let's hope they find themselves a publisher so we can see the game in English one day.
How much do levels affect the PvP and production if trade skills?
If levels are like most other games, PvP needs to be chopped up into "zones" of skill groups. And the same basic thing for trade skills, are there different levels of the same sword that one can make as they progress?
These would be a bad thing, in my opinion, if that's the way the game is made. I prefer a more UO like system.
pvp is ffa unless restricted by nations ruleset. however killing friendlies increases your crime status. AS that increases and you go through crime ranks you might end up as "Criminal/Pirate" - a sort of "third faction" member. Criminals are hostile against everyone and can be attacked by anyone. There are certain zones, towns, locations in the world that are completely friendly(like irl tortuga was to pirates), however overall criminals are fair game to be hunted(there are talks in the community about possibility of npc bounty hunters traveling through the world as possibility). Theoretically being a mean badguy who loots and pillages everyone is ALSO a possible and viable playstyle and offers a lot of unique gameplay features.
Also killing someone can put you on trial(that is you have to attend "real" ingame court hearing and be sentenced for example to prison). In most of ways, killing friendlies is treated as murder is in real life.
AS for crafting, improvement and development of crafted weapons is practically unlimited, while there are restrictions on just how great and powerful can normal looted weapons get.
This is a very big problem for a PvP game, I would think. In other words, high level characters, or those with uber gear, are going to be dominant. That means the heaviest of powergamers. It's only going to drive most of the rest out.
The same quest based leveling as has been the genre's focus since WoW released? No thanks. I'm not a crafter, and the class system will only entertain until the novelty of your class combo wares off, just like in RIFT. When it all comes down to it, for someone that loves the journey more than the destination and is combat gameplay oriented, it matters how you level. If it's through solo quests, bouncing from one hub to the next, doing unheroic poorely disguised chores to level up on, I'm not interested. I'd rather not play MMO's at all than to do one more of those stupid quests for xp. I REALLY miss grouping up and grinding in SWG and DAOC.
The horses looked/sounded interesting? Are the riding animations better than "normal"? By which I mean, are they realisitic? Can your horse still go from a gallop to a dead stop?
was looking to the video linked in archeage website and almost felt asleep.. really.. whats the point in developing another game that looks like aion 2 or rift 2 or lineage 5 or w/e.. they all look the same like sharing most of the animations or something.
all arrows beeing shot glow ( we all know arrows when shot in real life glow right? ), all melee slashes leave an white flashign trail behind ( everyone can test it with just a butter knife, swinging it aorund in the air and watching in awe the amount of white trails left behind together with the shhhhh sounds of course ).. etc etc..
then you have all the static npcs around using some magic trick making !'s and ?'s apearing above their heads like idiots.. npcs that will be in the same place from dawn to sunset, form the beggining of times till the end.. in an ever static world where nothign changes, ever.
rnt we tired of theese gaming formats yet? C'mon devs, be bold, bring something new.

try actually reading the reviews, the ?! questing is to ease people into the game. The animations and gfx are not why people are eagerly following this either (gfx look fine to me)
rpg/mmorg history: Dun Darach>Bloodwych>Bards Tale 1-3>Eye of the beholder > Might and Magic 2,3,5 > FFVII> Baldur's Gate 1, 2 > Planescape Torment >Morrowind > WOW > oblivion > LOTR > Guild Wars (1900hrs elementalist) Vanguard. > GW2(1000 elementalist), Wildstar

Wow you must not been paying attention while watching the video's or reading anything about ArcheAge...
This game is bringing it, it has it all in spades, the list things this mmo is going have for it's players to do is something people have been asking for a long time.
ArcheAge is the perfect blend of themepark with sandbox/social elements, with meaningful pvp.
Someone should make a list of all the things that ArcheAge is doing and bringing to the table!
It just floors me what all I have read and seen in the videos that it's going to have.
Played: MCO - EQ/EQ2 - WoW - VG - WAR - AoC - LoTRO - DDO - GW/GW2 - Eve - Rift - FE - TSW - TSO - WS - ESO - AA - BD Playing: Sims 3 & 4, Diablo3 and PoE Waiting on: Lost Ark Who's going to make a Cyberpunk MMO?

THIS.
Like I said earlier, these idiots who go by videos are getting NOTHING that the game really offers. Search for ArcheAges features, then come back.

Lol, it wasn't to long ago when you were drooling over RIFT .
I have to agree with a lot of what he said to be honest.. I mean come on if any os uf looked up and saw a ! floating above our heads we would start waving about and swatting at it like mental patiens. As for the static world, GOD , OH MY GOD YES!!!. its something I have said a gabillion times, I'm so sick fed up with walking into a town at night to find the exact same NPC just standing there.
HOWEVER, I do think that Archeage from what I have read so far is a step in the right direction, real world physics engine running in the background, or at least a good approximation of one which will make things feel alive.
As well as the games size, and scope and how dynamic things will be with sea travel, dynamic player housing , castles, god I'm drooling just thinking about it all, I also heared that if you commit crimes the cops come and jail you haha thats brilliant.
have to saw WOW very nearly destroyed my love for the genre, and Archeage looks like the game thats going to bring it back so while it might not be perfect its a far sight better than whats out now.

No, they should make a list of what this game actually has.
Games are not made of potential and wish lists, half the stuff mentioned in this thread is either made up or pure speculation. As it stands Archeage does even come close to the hype people are making for it.
After reading this article I am starting to doubt if this game is what us sandbox fans are waiting for. So far it sounds just like any other quest driven, themepark with extensive crafting. Not really enough to be the AAA virtual world MMORPG we are waiting for.
Originally posted by mCalvert The sandbox elements will make it or break it for many NA players. Will you be able to destory peoples buildings and property? Build your own and defend resources? Kill indiscrimantely. Then theres the possibility of the grind. Please no grind.
Yes to all those points. Killing in the free territories and ocean is free-for-all and unrestricted. For now since the political system is still not on, pvp in continents is free for all too, so you might need to band with other players to protect your properties.
Then there's the third continent which is not bound by political system and is made entirely for player-built castles, cities, villages and all the bloody shenanigans that can come up from that.
Alas, another promising "sandbox" completely and totally ruined by resorting to FFA PvP as a crutch instead of meaningful and innovative game mechanics.

"But I also now know that the game looks great, runs well (despite heavy latency being so far from the servers)..."
How far are you from Atlanta? Thats where the servers are.
Another fluffy MMO like we need it, why don't they do something western for a change always crappy pussy type MMO's from that side of the world...
Asbo
And yet here it is,the big hype over new game,it get released and all shit on it.
Atlanta ? What makes you think that ? The servers are most likely in Korea.
