Looks to me like a LOTORO fanboi raving about some video he saw on GW2. It almost appears as if he did not even play the game because he spent so much time bashing it. He also contradicted himself by saying there is no cosmetic system....then clearly pointing out how the cosmetic system works.
This whole thread is ridiculous. One person makes negative comments in a preview of SW:ToR, and all of a sudden all the Bioware fanbois come jumping in and bashing that person, bashing the review, and generally acting as if there couldn't possibly be a single problem with their game, talking about how anybody who writes anything negative must be stupid and delusional. Fanbois are so ridiculous and unreasonable, you SW:ToR people should just calm down and accept your game might have problems. SW:ToR is not perfect, and lots of people won't enjoy it.
.... what? This is a thread about a negative preview of Guild Wars 2? Gosh darn it, burn the heretic and her crappy opinion! I fully support all the reasonable and well spoken fans of Guild Wars 2, and Arenanet can do no wrong.
(PS. How come in every thread like this, fans of other games spend time accusing fans of the particular game of being unreasonable and crazy, when the exact same behavior happens in threads about their own game of choice? Even if it isn't the behavior of that particular fan, every game fandom is stuffed full of people who will act like whatever they lambast in fans of other games. What kind of halfassed weak fan can't even have a little righteous indignation when somebody isn't as well informed on the fan's favorite game as all right thinking people should be?)
Welcome to the internets?
In reality I think it is a fairly small percentage of people that react in such an extreme way. Most people don't even bother to post. Extremes are very easy to notice though.

My comment was really mostly just a commentary on how 'crazy' behavior from other clans is perfectly acceptable from your own clan.
Normal behavior is to ignore such behavior from your own people, point to it among OTHER people, and say 'Your people is the crazy peoples. So crazy. Why you not normal like us?' Most people don't go around policing their own side, slapping people and saying 'Stop being so hysterical! Be reasonable, person on my side!', then apologizing to the other clans for the bad behavior on their side.
Though I do respect those that do.
(... and Dinams, my comment was mostly 'all of the above', so... yeah. I was making fun of fans everywhere, from SW:ToR to GW2 to fans for sports teams and American Idol picks.)
edit: I was also making fun of myself, for what it's worth. I am a fan. At least I am AWARE that I am capable of crazy behavior though, so that puts me a leg up on those who do so and are incapable of realizing it!

I find it more ridiculous that there are "clans" to begin with. Rivalry over choice in games? It's simply laughable, I don't know about anyone else but I like games, not just one game; I like a lot of games; I'm not limiting my outlook on one option. I'm looking at them all, which I'm mostly excited about TSW at this point. To me it sounds to have a far more original focus than either TOR or GW2.

Congratulations. You belong to the TSW clan! I mean, you just stated a preference for one game over another, and even went so far as to say why you think that one is superior to two others.
Sure, some people are way more serious about their clan membership than others, but I wasn't talking about some sort of lifetime 'I belong to this game life and soul' thing, just the general behavior of how people will identify with one thing vs. another.

GW2 has new combat mechanics, no crazy fanboys, no trinity, dynamic events, spirits that talk to you, personal story, no smelly nerds, downed state, epic exploration, gianter dragons than TSW, No quests, no sub fee, mega-sized cities, and develpers that haven't made a fail game and TSW can't even muster up a dodge mechanic...pssh ... I think we should use a more objective measure of what games are good and which are not.
First you take the release date and then apply the following calculation:
Great game: The sinus of the day number is positive, the cosinus of the month number is negative and the product of both the sinus and the cosinus of the year number is between -0,25 and 0,25.
Good game: The sinus of the day number is higher then the cosinus of the month number and the product of both the sinus and cosinus of the year number is between -0,5 and 0,5.
Bad game: The sinus of the day number is equal to the cosinus of the month number and the product of both the sinus and cosinus of the year number is between -0,75 and 0,75.
Horrible game: everything else.
So for example: WoW was released 23/11/2004.
Sin(23) = 0,39. Cos(11) = 0,98. Sin(2004) * Cos(2004) = 0,37. So as clearly proven here WoW is a horrible game.
We are the bunny. Resistance is futile. ''/\/\'''''/\/\''''''/\/\ ( o.o) ( o.o) ( o.o) (")("),,(")("),(")(")

I can't accept your proof! You need to use not only the sine and cosine functions to establish how great a game is!
You also need to compare the tangent of the month and the cotangent of the year!

I've always maintained that the whole concept of an objective review for a product mostly based off of 'fun' is ridiculous. You haven't managed to convince me otherwise, even with your fancy math talks!
Seriously, every time I see a 'Objective review!' thread, I just want to drag the person out back and beat them with a dictionary until objective is imprinted into their neurons the hard way.
Objective reviews of games would be like... the little text on the bottom of the game that shows minimum and recommended requirements.
noone cares if you bash GW2. In fact if you actually knew where to look you would see die hard GW fans doing it all the time. The difference is they do it from an informed place.

"The engineer is just a reskinned ritualist that will stagnate pvp game play and turn 5v5 into a healfest where everyone is spamming mitigation and heals. Noone will die and the action style game they say they are trying to create will be killed."
And that's misinformation + pure speculation... it's your own subjective opinion and evidence-less speculation passed off as fact.
1. The devs themselves have said the Engineer is not trying to replace or re-embody the ritualist.
2. The Engineer has some healing but not more so than other classes: The Healing turret and Med Kit are both healing skill which means you can't carry them both, and the elixirs and elixir gun are more about boons and conditions rather than healing. If you are going to complain about healing, complain about the Guardian or Elementalist.
3. The Engineer might be more "static" (as in stay near an area, not stand in one spot ) than other classes and that is not only fine but completely intended. There is supposed to be a profession for a wide variety of playstyles. Furthermore, just because the Engineer is good at bunkering down doesn't mean combat becomes static; the Engineer still has plenty of necessary mvoement as well as having to deal with mobile allies and enemies.
Regarding that blog, it just made me laugh. Even though they are not bashing GW2 the writter of that blog lacks the very basic info (e.g. Worrying about slackers/leechers when the devs ahve said multiple times that only active players count towards an event.)

Clearly your one of those crazy people who like the Mega Drive over the SNES so your completely wrong about everything........*cough*
Holy crap, you called that console by its actual name, the Mega Drive. I know there's one country out there that wanted to be that super extra little bit special by renaming it to the Genesis, and having the SNES in a casing that looked like a giant, grey LEGO, but with the Mega Drive most countries seemed to follow the Japanese naming convention.
You are, however, still a complete and utter wrongface. The Mega Drive was superior to the SNES in every conceivable way. :P
Sigh ! This thread makes me miss Robert Dihn. For a long time (actual years before that infamous dihn ) we had to deal with wave after wave of misinformed trolls about gw2. And some how it shaped the regular posters into a decent fact delivering bunch. And while a lot still is around , there is defently now also a feeling of fanboyism I am not that happy about. Aswell as alot of cases off arguing for the sake of arguing.
I have hanged around here because the amount of fanboys on guru is to high for my taste, and I like that critical voices can be raised here while meet with alot of good counter arguments. This is virtues I like at the posters here, and i wish the fanboys would take heed and follow that good tradition.
It might be time to let this thread sink down from the frontpage.

Just my 2 cents
That article was complete rubbish.
That writer clearly has no place in judging video games.
