i would probably look to the start of pre-purchases around that estimated date, with an open/world beta (stress testing) for those who pre-order around black friday.
All i see is TBA 2011 which transaltes by all logic into To Be Announced in 2011, which would mean you might get it announced at 31.12.2011 for all it matters. I would really not expect it this year, we have only 6 month till end and no news about CBT/OBT, not enough actual news on how the gameplay works, only vague infomartion. Q1/Q2 2012 is the earliest i could see it out.
The last two quarterly financial statements have strongly hinted we could see GW2 in Q4 of 2011, in the West.
That could change, based on testing and feedback, but the Nov. 2, 2011 seem highly possible to me.
I don't think these sites make the dates up, (well, not the more repuatble and highly connected ones). I think it probably reflects information they have received privately, with the caveat that the date is subject to change, until the devs are willing to officially announce a date.

I don't understand. We have blog posts and developer videos telling us how the game plays out. We even have demo footage of random people playing the game at conventions. I don't understand how that is only vague information.
We are definitely on target for a Closed Beta this year. We’re going to do a closed Alpha and Beta test and we’re totally on target for those things.
Whether there’s more than that? We’ll announce that stuff when we get closer
Yeah, if they haven't even started alpha testing yet then no way in hell GW2 comes out this year.
Alpha tests have been going on for a very long time now as seen from their videos. Espeically the alpha test dragon boss that was released so long ago.
November is when they wish they released the game. Will it happen? Maybe... Beta should start soon after E3, september the latest. November does feel very close for the state of the game that we have seen so far. I guess they're currently focussing on populating the item store, and also refining many of the quests and dungeons, and the story guys are writing day and night and submit their stories to the integration team like mad.
I think they could do it for november, but until they release anything about PVP we won't see a beta. So, first, PVP info (maybe at E3), then Beta test, 3 months laterwe may hope for a release.

ArenaNet doesn't go to E3.
Aww, really? Disapointed here, means they probably had nothing new to show already?
What are you doing this summer? ArenaNet is making big plans for this year’s tradeshow season and we want you to join us. Read on for a breakdown of what we’re up to this year!
Just like last year, we won’t be attending E3 this year. Instead, we’ll continue to focus on shows that allow us to share Guild Wars 2 directly with gamers.
San Diego Comic- Con (July 21-24) How could we miss the granddaddy of all pop-cultural conventions? We’ll send an elite team of artists and devs down to the San Diego Convention Center to meet fans and do signings. Drop by the NCsoft booth to play Guild Wars 2 and try your hand at the engineer!
Gamescom (August 17-21) in Cologne, Germany will be our first European show this year, and as usual we will bring a playable demo along and will show you a bunch of new surprises that we can’t talk about yet - you’ll have to stop by our booth to see for yourself! We will also have our traditional costume competition for our European fans, so start gathering your crafting materials!
Rest is for the weak! The weekend after gamesom, our entire studio will descend upon PAX Prime (August 26-28) here in Seattle. This is our home turf, so expect big surprises, cool swag, interesting panels, and a ton of Guild Wars 2 demo stations.
Sure, summer is officially over by the time we reach October, but we’re not done yet! We’ll return to Europe once more for the massive Paris Games Week (October 21-25), where we’ll bring our hands-on demo for our French fans – enez nous dire bonjour si vous passez dans le coin!
That’s what we’ve got planned so far, but keep an eye/ear open for further announcements. It’s going to be an awesome summer for Guild Wars 2 fans!

Its ok. This happens for every single mmo ever released, and will probably happen several times again up until the actual release.

The game will be available from November. Their new officesuite is a clear indication and also they will want the Christmas sales. Good luck all !

I'm waiting for a page dedicated to the features: WvWvW, 5v5, and Minigames.

The old blog post on Mini-games. I doubt they will really tell us about them so they can be a surprise.
