Originally posted by Meowhead Okay, I'm really curious about TSW... and Archeage is looking really fascinating to me... ... but I picked Blade & Soul anyway. Why? Well, GW2 is my main game, for gameplay... ... so Blade & Soul allows me to indulge the part of me that likes art. Even though I love GW2 art (And have the art books), I have a soft spot in my heart for Hyung-Tae Kim. I also have his art books, and I have two of the games he did art for (Even though those games are bad) I'm looking forward to a game that so closely replicates his art style. ... plus, some of the mechanics seem neat, and I really like the travelling. ... but yeah, mostly shallow reasons for B&S. Haha. I'll admit it!
I have my eye on B&S as well for the same reasons as you. But I look at it as Invictus on steroids, not really the type off MMO I invest my major gaming time in. I will check it out though.
ArcheAge and The Secret World are currently tied in my book. Just wait til we get more info in World of Darkness. Those three games along with B&S, GW2, and TOR should offer something for everybody, I mean EVERYBODY.
I still hope Firefall or End of Nations can deliver. Then someone recently posted a stream of Tera gameplay and the world looked beautiful. Some concerns about TSW and AA are still here. Blade´n Soul I know nothing about.
WoD, ah if it captures the atmosphere from Vampire Bloodlines, the many different ways to play it - i drool!
But i really dont see it released the next 3 yrs.
"Torquemada... do not implore him for compassion. Torquemada... do not beg him for forgiveness. Torquemada... do not ask him for mercy. Let's face it, you can't Torquemada anything!"
I feel so lonely being the sole person who is looking forward to B&S that much!
Then again, I'm probably the only person with multiple Hyung-Tae Kim artbooks and posters. :<
I guess liking this guy's art makes me an outcast from truly tasteful MMO lovers who enjoy things like TSW and Archeage more.
I was excited for B&S when they first released the footage of it. Being a fan of anime/manga and over the top action, it's right up my alley. I'm just warey of playing another NCSoft game.
I'll likely play them all but most looking forward to TSW. I like the idea, and the setting, the skill system, the investigation system sounds good.... I'm rather interested to see how it all pans out.
As for ArcheAge, I think it looks pretty flashy, but I don't think it will hold a long lasting appeal to me. I think I'll likely find more enjoyment out of TERAs combat system. I don't know enough about B&S OTHER than the art, and thats not good enough for me to be interested in it.
TSW for many reasons, interresting game setting with huge potential, compelling factions (better than the usual "we hate you because your skin is green" bolox we usually get), real world settings and not least 3 faction pvp.
Expresso gave me a Hearthstone beta key.....I'm so happy
As far as I'm concerned, FC has made the best MMO ever in AO and the best-looking MMO ever in AoC. Can't wait to see what they do next. Flawed launches don't bother me nearly as much as dull unimaginative games that most companies with "flawless execution" seem to be making.

Good lord, this might as well be porn....lol.
As to this, I don't know. I loveddddddddddddddddd The Longest Journey/Dreamfall. And AoC 1-20 was the best MMO experience ever. But the rest of that left such a bad taste.
ArcheAge COULD be great, but I really need to see more.
TERA, I've watched, but I almost get an Aion sort of game.
B&S Yeah, same thing as ArcheAge.
So if I had to pick one.....HMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmm. Yeah, can't choose!
Very curious about TSW, due to the setting and the concepts of connecting the game with ARGs. Keeping it on the back burner though since I know so very little about the actual gameplay.
Not quite as excited about ArchAge anymore after reading the in-depth mage gameplay article. Not the direction I would have liked.
We know next to nothing about Blade and Soul coming to the Western market so I am not really hyped for this one yet. The setting does look amazing, but the other MMO's coming out also provide gorgeous vistas and settings. Archage looks promising, but I have the same issue with the game as I do with Rift, I dislike he aesthetics of the game. The secret world looks quite promising, but we don't know enough about it yet. Tera is the most promising one for me. The Korea launch was not exactly perfect, but they have done a lot on the game since then. Since the Western launch seems to be delayed until the game is in a polished state I am quite excited for this game.
Reasons: Tornquist. Lovecraft/Stephen King. AoC level of graphics. Most original and inspiring setting from all MMO's.
The poll made me think of, I don't know if it was Blade & Soul or C9, but it was an Asian game where the player characters jumped from hilltop to hilltop half jumping half gliding in a Chinese 'House of Flying Dagger' fighting movie style. The combat and world looked very good, it sounded like a nice on-the-side game to play from time to time.

I know exactly the feeling. It's like this girl you know that when looking at it rationally has all the traits that you've been looking for on paper, yet you catch yourself thinking 'why am I not in love or even attracted to her'?
It's like they say, 'the heart wants what the heart wants', sometimes it's entirely undefinable what makes it warm up to one thing yet stay cold to another thing even if the latter has the better credentials. Well, when it comes to games that applies to a lesser degree of course

Your not alone, very much looking forwards to B&S as well.
Me three! I was majorly obsessed with the characters, even before knowing who the artist was or that it was drawn for a game. I can't sit still. So many great looking/sounding games to be released soon! I'm excited for all of them so I won't pick 1.
ArcheAge is THE GREATEST mmorpg ever made EVER in the history of MMORPGS.
Want to build a village on a desert island in the middle of nowhere? Want to be pirates? Maybe you want to keep the high seas safe and kill pirates? What about sieging castles and taxing the land? SO MANY OPTIONS.
ArcheAge has been described as a hybrid sandbox game with PvE similar to popular western games with Lineage PvP and Ultima Online open world.... JUICE!!!!

Archeage for sure.
I am still sitting on the fences for TSW, I just don't understand the concept, but I am not discarding it.
I am just waiting to understand a bit more.
Undecided...

I'm just not a fan of the artstyle in B&S, sorry Meowhead. But I'm willing to have an open mind about the game.
Out of those four games, I'm definitely more excited for The Secret World.

How is TSW up there? LOL

TSW, is the only MMO I'm paying attention in the moment, I'm not interested in anything else, but still, I'm going to wait and see

TSW for me I just love the hole idea of it
AA a close second as im a fan of open world sandbox mmos

ArchAge as it's features and concept impress me most. Sandboxy games that look good graphically are a rare occurance anyway.
Just hoping it won't be f2p + cash shop. Any word on their pay model already?
My brand new bloggity blog.
ArcheAge. Themepark/sandbox hybrid. It's what I want EVERY MMORPG to incorporate, and only now is someone finally take the chance to see it happen.
Second choice is Secret World, but it's Funcom. So...that speaks for itself.
Your not alone, very much looking forwards to B&S as well.
Why is that girl in the B&S picture trying to stick a knife up her....
I mean, i enjoy "twisted", but that's just disturbing.

From the choices provided i am more hyped about TSW by far even though i like asian style games i tend to burn out on them fast...
Playing GW2..
