Finaly im having a blast in an MMO
New games are all the same. I decided to give Line age 2 a second try after years they made A LOOOT of improvements.
Seems to me that almost every Flaws are gone. No more cheaters and gear is not easier to get The grind is pretty easier but still a long way to go from the start . If you know what you are doing you can level extremely fast like 1-75 in 2 weeks.
The gameplay isnt as good as the Cookie cutters but after getting used to it i realy Enjoy the point and clic even tho i was a fan a DarkFall Now im having a blast in Lineage 2. Im on the Naia Server i just joined a guild that helped me out with all the questions i had and they gave me Money and some top notch gear. The average people is around 30yo and pretty mature i realy like the comunity and the Ambience. The population is good enough to make huge zergs for Sieges. The Olympiad pvp is realy fun. I like games with lots of buffs like this one.
They made a Newbie Helper that gives the buffs you need to level and they last 1 hour. Comon gear at the vendor for a cheap price till level 76. I started a Necromancer and i gotta say the skill cap for the class is very high. Its hard but fun at the same time. My wife rolled a Shillen Elder .
Best time i had in an MMO in a while BUT had to get used to it. At the begining it was hard. The UI has it flaws but once you know and it works its fine you can setup keydings how you want them and everything is there. Its just not the Western Standard MMO with the cookie cutter interface but it works for me.
Finaly im Happy i found the game i was looking for and its a 7 years old game lol
The expansion coming out Fall 2011 is going to increase the max level to 99 and reduce by a lot the grind from 1-85 so new players arent going to be extremely far behind since its going to kinda Reset the value of the adena.
Lineage 2 had a bad reputation for cheaters and farmers but they created a button you press if you see a boter or a cheater and he is getting banned in no time.

Lineage 2 is still the best mmo out there to me. Necro is one of my favorite toons and hands down its the best mage.Your wife rolled the perfect toon with you because Shillen Elder is the best Buffer / Recharger for mages. Hope you continue enjoying the game and I look forward to hearing about your progess. I am also really looking fowrad to Goddess Of Destruction.
I know right i asked people in Giran what would be the best Class for her and most said Shillen Elder. The synergy is very good.
I had very low expectations when i bough the game. I tried to find some good pvp movies on youtube and all i saw was Clickers and people with low skill.
If you are looking for an MMO that require Skills in pvp some classes in Lineage 2 seems to have a very high skill cap and anybody with good pvp background will have a very good time in this HardCore pvp Game.

I would still be playing Lineage II if there was no Goddess of Destruction update in the horizon. It was my first, but messing with the classes that way kills it for me.
No offense but after 7 years the game needs an update... you have absolutely no idea if the changes are going to be good or bad . In fact they might improve the game like most people are expecting. I dont think they are going to Screw the game up The class changes arent even official yet. Yes they are going to rework the classes but they also allow people to have 2 classes in 1 character and both spec to the max level. They are reworking their system to make groups easier to make. I think these changes are going to be very welcome since groups are hard to form in this game so we wont waste as much time trying to find a buffer or X type or a Tank since most people will have sometimes group frienly in pve AND their main pvp class.

You dont need excuses if you want to quit and go play a shooter or a more Casual less Hardcore type of mmo. Just do it.

theirs a very good reason for why lineage2 has a bad reputation for cheating, and just because their added a button, a long time ago dosen't mean its gone. i woulden't recommend this game for new players seeking the pvp aspect of l2.
There are cheaters in every MMO's I saw Speed Hacked and Exploiters in Darkfall online and many other pvp games. People Exploiting Rating in WoW arena for items ... Gold sellers are in every online game for a Reason... people are buying the golds or adena or w/e. Lineage 2 had a bad reputation since the grind was huge when the game first came out. So people were using programs that basicaly farmed Adena for them while they were afk... Is it ground breaking and ruining the pvp aspect ??? I dont think so. At the end of the day you will all be the same level ... the cheaters were there first but they now getting banned pretty quick thats what i was saying.
People just dont understand that in every PvP MMO out there will be people that cheat and especially at the end game level. You can go ask people that play EVE, DArkfall or any other PVP game. Telling somebody not to play a game because of that is just plain stupid. I play Lineage 2 everyday and I pvp all the time just for fun. It would be differenent if Lineage 2 was a gank fest game where you was getting killed everytime you steped outside of town for no reason but Lineage 2 is not like that. Lineage 2 is a full open pvp game but its up to you if you want to participate in the pvp aspect of the game. It is not forced on you like other games. Bottom line is that its a FUN game.
of course every game has cheaters, just ncsoft been handling it very bad, or not cared at all about cheaters, so it took em 7 years to finnaly do something aginst bots or did their just leave on their own with the server population doing so terrible, and the ecomics being broken?
at least the population must be doing horrible, when their decided to unban previoisly eula offenders...

not only has botting been a big problem in this game with the power that comes for being high lvl compared to lower lvlede players, theirs also the constant use off program in pvp, and every party that have wars up will know when a enemy group is coming cause off raders.
here's a video from the l2 russian offical server's to point out how strong high lvl's are and everyone at pvp is pretty much 83+ on Naia, just look at any pvp video's.

the reason im not recommending this game for the pvp aspect for new players is because unless your 83+ atm with good gear, you be worthless or die in seconds. and with GoD the new lvl for being even abit reliable in pvp is likely to raise, so i can't see the fun in lvling from lvl 1 to 85+ before you start to pvp or just another toon that drops in a second.
Doesn't Lineage II have open world PvP at all times, as well as the total looting of your sorry-ass, low-leveled corpse?
Yes, it does have open world PvP but without the full loot system. You don't drop items when your killed. You can only drop some of your items if you are 'red' (Killing another player while they don't hit you back).
No looting, except with high Karma (PK penalty).
So is the fact that most pvp is at End game level in a 7 years old game is suprising ? Look at other games like a Fully Arena Geared Mage in WoW could probably kill 10+ level 70 characters at the time. I dont realy see your point there... High level behing strong compared to low levels isnt a problem at all.
I am not reacting like a Fan boy or anything ... just saying that Radars and Cheats are in EVERY MMOs Dark Age of Camelot had LOTS of Radar users as well. People using programs to pvp in DarkFall online. ALL their good pvpers are using Macros for pvp since they have too many skills they need to click there is no more Keybindings available so they need to do some Macros to make it possible. even Shift + key and Ctrl + key combinations are all taken by a skill. So for their Rayz for exemple they all bind it to the same key and if the first one is on cooldown its doing the second one.
Thats just a couple exemple but in Lineage 2 it is not ruining the whole game. The economy is also going to be reset with the new expansion coming out since at level 99 the adena people have right now will be worth nothing compared to what we will be getting at level 99
And what is your level and class and experiece to say that if you are not 83+ you are worthless? What happens at 83 that turns a regular player into a god? What kind of gear and +++ skills do you have? I am a 82 Kameal Soul Hound and I can beat S84 toons everyday whether its Olympaid or just messing around in the Arena. I have a friend Kameal Beserker that started playing about 6 months ago. I ran into him yesterday at the arena and to my suprise he is now level 81 and loves the hell out of the Olympiad.
Dont tell a person not to play this game because you dont like and stop blamming the game and ncsoft because you dont have what it takes to make it. The economy in this game is at an all time low right now so if you cant afford your gear then you are just total fail. If you dont like Lineage 2 then why do you keep comming here with the same hate? Just leave and go play something else.

and yes all games have cheaters, i just find it disturbing the way ncsoft handled cheating for l2, and about cheating not running l2, well in my opinon it did excatly that, its been out off hand for to many years and NA/EU servers keeps bleeding subs.
back in C3 or maybe it was C2 subs where increasing and lineage2 hit 120.000 subscribers, thats around when the botting got out hand, and know theirs 2 servers left out off 11?
besides botting isen't the only problem in l2 its the constant use off program in pvp and ncsofts action off doing nothing aginst it.
for my exeperinces well i only ever got 1 thirdsubclass toon cardinal to lvl 79, the video just their to show how powerless or easy to kill you be, not getting to end lvls and having good gear with high elemental protection.
for lvl 83 well it might be 81 or 82 or something atm depends on your class since some off the good skills open up at thoes lvls, but gear matters alot to and it isen't cheap trying to acquirie it. but knows GoD coming with lvl cap 99 and R grade gear doubt its gonna be easier trying to catch up for the pvp aspects then.
i admit i never been good at economics, not the reason why i left was more because its very hard finding groups for pve in the game unleass your 80+ and without a constant group its quite impossible.
at least GoD might adress some off the problems for pve and the mentality off constant or no pve grouping
btw you left your old spellhowler? and for not making it in l2, you seem to have not made it in darkfall ^_^.
You talking to me? I have never played Spellhowler and I also never played Darkfall other then doing the trial and uninstalling it afther about 10 minutes. Lineage 2 has always been my only mmo since I started playing MMOs. I have tried everything out there during my Lineage 2 breaks but never lasted more then a month or two before I was right back to Lineage 2. There is nonthing out there better then Lineage 2 and deep down inside you know it whether you want to admit or not. Why else would you keep talkiing about it?
I had a pretty good time play several games. My favorite one is Darkfall when it was in its prime but now a day we need to run for hours to find a pvp fight since the landscape is huge and people are all hiding in their city behind tower protection. Or they just zerg.
Dark Age of Camelot in its prime is my second favorite. I tried to Return and didnt feel this old magic it once had.
I tried new games seeking desperatly for an other good title and felt like they were all trying to emulate their predecessor which were better in every aspecs....
Then i saw a post about Lineage 2 saying the game improved and read about what the next expansion would bring to the table and decided to give this game a second try after quiting soon after launch. I am very happy with my decision because i can finaly Feel this little magic and who cares how many servers of the game are available as long as the one i am playing on is Alive. There are enough people in the game to make my computer lag at times and everytime you try to run into a main city.
The reason why you only see 2 servers is because depending on which language your game is the other servers arent available so basicaly. There is also 1 russian server and i dunno about the rest of the world but i heard it is still the most popular mmo in Asia so an other couple servers there. Add the fact that about 200k people playing ilegaly for free.
W/e i just made this post to tell the world i was happy about the game. I am realy having fun and i hope in the futur more games like Lineage 2 are going to be made. Im not a fan of the point and click but the rest of the game make up for it.
i dont consider lineage2 the best game, only thing their did right was exp loss on death and making clan wars.
their had to many classes, often resulting in swordsinger, bladedancer or warcryers being boxed, and the game play being boring for most classes in groups.
also their had big inbalances in the classes in the past, and getting high lvl always been rewarded, if your 3 lvls under a pve mob you get a pentalty like 30 % less damgede on it, their wantet to add that for pvp to, but the korens subscribers stopped it.
so why i keep talking about it? because i don't belive that the bots are gone or that ncsoft finnaly did something after all thoes years to make em leave, i rather belive the server population is bad that their left because theirs not enof people left to buy adena.
throughout the years ive been playing, theirs always been cheaters, and reporting em for weeks did nothing, obvious bots would still be there months after, and ncsoft just banned a few for pr, their more interested in subscription payment.
and it shows why else should thir unban previous botters?

I am thinking of returning to L2 yet again for another run, how friendly is the game gear wise for a new player, I really just want to start over instead of continuing my characters, I still have a few mil of adena tho, only worry atm is will I have to create a dwarf and buffer accounts to be viable at the higher lvls?
You can up to buy low A grade weapons and armor at the Luxury Shop in Giran (Sword of Miracle, Tallum Blade, Dark Crystal Robe...). The rest, like in most other games, is easier if you don't try to craft them in the same expansion that they were released.
If your clan has a dedicated dwarf and they're all friendly you don't NEED one.
I've never dual boxed a buffer, to me the difference isn't worth the trouble.
